The phase morphology developing in immiscible poly(styrene‐co‐acrylonitrile) (SAN)/ethylene–propylene–diene monomer (EPDM) blends was studied with an in situ reactively generated SAN‐g‐EPDM compatibilizer through the introduction of a suitably chosen polymer additive (maleic anhydride) and 2,5‐dimethyl‐2,5‐di‐(t‐butyl peroxy) hexane (Luperox) and dicumyl peroxide as initiators during melt blending. Special attention was paid to the experimental conditions required for changing the droplet morphology for the dispersed phase. Two different mixing sequences (simple and two‐step) were used. The product of two‐step blending was a major phase surrounded by rubber particles; these rubber particles contained the occluded matrix phase. Depending on the mixing sequence, this particular phase morphology could be forced or could occur spontaneously. The composition was stabilized by the formation of the SAN‐g‐EPDM copolymer between the elastomer and addition polymer, which was characterized with Fourier transform infrared. As for the two initiators, the blends with Luperox showed better mechanical properties. Scanning electron microscopy studies revealed good compatibility for the SAN/EPDM blends produced by two‐step blending with this initiator. Dynamic mechanical thermal analysis studies showed that the two‐step‐prepared blend with Luperox had the best compatibility. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2011  相似文献

The determination by atomic absorption spectroscopy of the iron, nickel, copper, zinc and cadmium content of two cultivars of white yam (Dioscorea rotundata Pair) and their source soil from three farms, and also of random samples of the cultivars from five geographical areas in Kaduna and Plateau states of Nigeria, is reported. The analyses show all the metals except Fe to be in trace amounts in the tissues of both cultivars; the barks contain two to four times more. The iron content was found to be about 20 times higher in the bark than in the tissue. Less than 0.7% of the metals present in the soil could be extracted with NH4NO3 solution. Yam bark, which contains reasonable amounts of the above metals, could be useful as cattle feed. Yam tissue, having a high content of Zn compared with Cd, could be recommended for the diet of hypertensive patients.  相似文献

Poly (DL-lactic acid) [DL-PLA] microcapsules containing phenobarbitone (core:polymer, 1:2) were prepared using three different molecular weight polymers, 20,500, 13,300 and 5,200. Buffer pH 9 ware used to study dissolution rate at temperatures of 10°, 15°, 20°, 25°, 30° and 37°C. The release mechanism followed “Higuchi's” square root of time relationship at all these temperatures and allowed calculation of release rate from the straight line portion of release curve. These microcapsules showed an initial burst phase release followed by a lag phase; both of these phases are affected by the temperature of dissolution and polymer molecular weight. The normalized release rate [Kh2/SSA] was found to lower linearly with the lowering of temperature with all three polymers. Arrhenius plot of the normalized release rate allowed calculation of the activation energy (Ea) for the polymers. It was found to lower linearly with the increase in DL-PLA polymer molecular weight.  相似文献

Chaotic natural convection flow of a molten gallium in a square enclosure with the upper and lower surfaces being insulated was studied by two-dimensional numerical simulation. Constant temperatures are imposed along the left and right walls of the enclosure with a volumetrically heated enclosure. In addition, a nonuniform partially active magnetic field is applied in a vertical direction. The flux lines spread out into a fringing field so the effective cross-sectional area of the gap is larger than that of the pole face. A chaotic regime is considered under steady state boundary condition. This study was done for an internal Rayleigh number of 107, external Rayleigh number of 105, and Prandtl number of 0.024. The study covers various magnet pole effect widths of 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 from enclosure width and the magnetic field strength ranges 0.0 ≤ B o  ≤ 10 Tesla. The transport equations for continuity, momentum, and energy are solved. The numerical results are reported for the effect of the partially active magnetic field on the velocity vectors, counters of temperature, streamline, and heat transfer coefficient. The numerical study shows that a magnetic field is damping chaotic oscillation behavior and decreases the amplitude of oscillation. Also, at a certain magnetic field strength the chaotic flow tend to becomes periodic flow at certain amplitude and frequency, and at high magnetic field strength the flow in the square enclosure flow tends to become steady laminar flow with stable average Nusselt number values; so, the random oscillation behavior disappeared. The effect of a nonuniform magnetic field tends to push the fluid to flow away from magnetic field region.  相似文献

In this study, horseradish peroxidase/nickel oxides nanoparticles/glassy carbon (HRP/NiO NPs/GC) electrode was prepared by first applying nickel oxides nanoparticles on glassy carbon surface and then horseradish peroxidase immobilized on the NiO NPs. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) have been used as a diagnostic tools to identify the synthesized NiO NPs. Immobilized HRP showed an electrochemical redox behavior pertained to HRP(Fe(III)–Fe(II)) by direct electron transfer between protein and nanoparticles with a formal potential (E0′) of ? 55.5 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl and 141.5 mV vs. NHE) in 50 mM phosphate buffer solution (PBS). The anodic charge transfer coefficient (α) and heterogeneous electron transfer rate constant (ks) were 0.42 and 0.75 s? 1, respectively. Biocatalytic activity of HRP/NiO NPs/GC electrode for reduction of hydrogen peroxide and application to hydrogen peroxide determination was exemplified.  相似文献

Electrospun polymers have many applications in the industry.However, the structure of these polymers has been less widely considered by researchers.In this work, the structural effect of electrospun and casted films of polyacrylonitrile(PAN) and polyvinylidene fluoride(PVDF) polymers on water vapor transmission were investigated.Sorption of water vapor was measured at 35, 60 and 80 ℃ and different relative humidities.The diffusion coefficients were calculated based on mass changes of the polymer sample.The water vapor transmission rate(WVTR) was also measured at 35 ℃ and 90% relative humidity.The results indicated that electrospun nano-fibrous polymers(ESNPs) absorb much higher water vapor compared to non-porous casted polymers.The interaction of water molecules with mentioned polymers was investigated based on Flory-Huggins theory.The Flory-Huggins interaction parameter of electrospun films was less than casted films, suggesting much better interaction of water molecules with electrospun films.It was also found that electrospun films have anomalous kinetic behavior and do not obey the Fickian diffusion model.Finally, it was revealed that ESNPs show less resistance to water vapor transmission and they are good candidates for the applications of water vapor separation using membranes.  相似文献

A coercivity as large as 2.4 kOe has been achieved in the Ni/NiO composite film after an annealing under a magnetic field of 10 kOe and an O2 partial pressure of 0.001 torr. The coercivity was attributed to the strong exchange coupling of Ni and NiO. Small grain size of Ni and NiO was observed after the post-annealing. The enhanced coercivity is probably associated with the domain wall pinning by local energy minima, the distribution of Ni and NiO, and the domain structure in the interface of Ni/NiO generated under the presence of the magnetic field during the post-annealing.  相似文献

This paper addresses a model-based audio content analysis for classification of speech-music mixed audio signals into speech and music. A set of new features is presented and evaluated based on sinusoidal modeling of audio signals. The new feature set, including variance of the birth frequencies and duration of the longest frequency track in sinusoidal model, as a measure of the harmony and signal continuity, is introduced and discussed in detail. These features are used and compared to typical features as inputs to an audio classifier. Performance of these sinusoidal model features is evaluated through classification of audio into speech and music using both the GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model) and the SVM (Support Vector Machine) classifiers. Experimental results show that the proposed features are quite successful in speech/music discrimination. By using only a set of two sinusoidal model features, extracted from 1-s segments of the signal, we achieved 96.84% accuracy in the audio classification. Experimental comparisons also confirm superiority of the sinusoidal model features to the popular time domain and frequency domain features in audio classification.  相似文献
