The new generation of engineering professionals needs to know not only the scientific and engineering principles, but also have extensive knowledge about arts, literature, and social sciences. They need far-reaching vision for the future in order to understand grand challenges on the technical-level, the system-level, and the social aspects of topics that are of importance to the modern society. One solution is to emphasize fundamental courses such as mathematics and physics with new interpretation to correlate with real-world applications. Neuronal migration anomalies are a spectrum of brain malformations caused by insults to migrating neuroblasts during the sixth week to fifth month of gestation. To study the characteristics of MRI findings in migration anomalies, MR images of 36 patients (28 children and 8 adults) with migration anomalies were evaluated. Five patients had lissencephaly, eight had pachygyria, twelve had schizencephaly, six had heterotopias of gray matter, three had hemimegalencephaly, and two had polymicrogyria. The frequency of migration anomalies was 0.51% of all cranial MRI studies and 1.21% of pediatric cranial MRI studies at our hospital. The major clinical presentations of these patients were seizure (64%), development delay (42%), motor deficits (42%) and mental retardation (25%). Twenty-five patients (69%) associated with other brain anomalies, including: other migration anomalies in 12 cases (33%), absence of the septum pellucidum in 10 cases (28%), Dandy-Walker malformation/variant in 5 cases, arachnoid cyst in 4 cases, agenesis of the corpus callosum in 3 cases, holoprosencephaly in 2 cases, mega cisterna magna in 1 case and cephalocele in 1 case. Some of them presented with multiple complicated anomalies. As MR imaging provides superb gray-white matter distinction, details of cortical anatomy and multiplanar capability, it can clearly delineate the detail morphologic changes of the brain caused by neuronal migration disorders as well as the associated anomalies.  相似文献

In this paper a GCL (Geometry Conservation Law) – preserving finite element model is developed to simulate the fluid-structure interaction phenomena. The boundary locations are part of the solution procedures. Within the moving grid framework, the employed numerical method involves the operator splitting technique, balance tensor diffusivity (BTD), Runge-Kutta time-stepping method, and an element-by-element conjugate gradient iterative solver. Flows around a self-vibrating cylinder and elastically supported cylinders are investigated to validate the present method. The simulated results agree well with available data in the literature. The lock-in phenomenon that may cause the unstable motion of cylinders is also revealed. It is significant from the simulated 2×2 four cylinders result that the rear two cylinders approach to each other at a time earlier than the front two ones.  相似文献

In multihop wireless ad hoc networks, it is important that all mobile hosts are synchronized. Synchronization is necessary for power management and for frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) operations. IEEE 802.11 standards specify a clock synchronization protocol but this protocol suffers from the scalability problem due to its inefficiency contention mechanism. In this paper, we propose an automatic self-time-correcting procedure (ASP) to achieve clock synchronization in a multihop environment. Our ASP has two features. First, a faster host has higher priority to send its timing information out than a slower one. Second, after collecting enough timing information, a slower host can synchronize to the faster one by self-correcting its timer periodically (which makes it becoming a faster host). Simulation results show that our ASP decreases 60% the average maximum clock drift as compared to the IEEE 802.11 and reduces 99% the number of asynchronism in a large-scale multihop wireless ad hoc networks.  相似文献

In wireless sensor networks, query execution over a specific geographical region is an essential function for collecting sensed data. However, sensor nodes deployed in sensor networks have limited battery power. Hence, the minimum number of connected sensor nodes that covers the queried region in a sensor network must be determined. This paper proposes an efficient distributed protocol to find a subset of connected sensor nodes to cover the queried region. Each node determines whether to be a sensing node to sense the queried region according to its priority. The proposed protocol can efficiently construct a subset of connected sensing nodes and respond the query request to the sink node. In addition, the proposed protocol is extended to solve the k-coverage request. Simulation results show that our protocol is more efficient and has a lower communication overhead than the existing protocol.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an integrated model for the joint determination of both economic production quantity and level of preventive maintenance (PM) for an imperfect production process. This process has a general deterioration distribution with increasing hazard rate. The effect of PM activities on the deterioration pattern of the process is modelled using the imperfect maintenance concept. In this concept, it is assumed that after performing PM, the ageing of the system is reduced in proportion to the PM level. After a period of time in production, the process may shift to out-of-control states, either type I or type II. A minimal repair will remove the type I out-of-control state. If a type II out-of-control state occurs, the production process has to stop, and then restoration work is carried out. Examples of Weibull shock models are given to show that the use of PM reduces costs.  相似文献

In recent years, we can easily observe that animations, comics, and games (ACG) have great output value and market influence on the entertainment and digit media market. The ACG industry is not an industry of a single country or region but a global industry. In addition to its own revenue, the derivative products (or licensed merchandise) of ACG can extend the ACG industry to win more business opportunities. The ACG industry is mainly marketed towards younger people, who are the major users of social network sites. Hence, the electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) on social network sites often becomes a reference basis of the young people’s attitudinal acceptance and purchase intention in purchasing ACG-related derivative product.In this paper, we analyze the influential factors of positive eWOM’s communication motivations that affect consumer acceptance on social network sites, and apply the uncomplicated decision tree data mining algorithm to compute the association rules between these influential factors and consumer acceptance, expecting to understand the relationship between eWOM on social network sites and consumer acceptance. The results of this study can help the business decision-making in CRM and marketing of the industry of ACG-related derivative product. This study found that the degree of perception of ACG product and the degree of taking pleasure in sharing ACG-related information with others have a significant correlation with consumer acceptance.  相似文献

InGaN-GaN and InGaN-AlInGaN multiquantum-well (MQW) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were both fabricated and their optical properties were evaluated by photoluminescence (PL) as well as electroluminescence (EL). We found that the PL peak position of the InGaN-AlInGaN MQW occurs at a much lower wavelength than that of the InGaN-GaN MQW. The PL intensity of the InGaN-AlInGaN MQW was also found to be larger. The EL intensity of the InGaN-AlInGaN MQW LED was also found to be larger than that of the InGaN-GaN MQW LED under the same amount of injection current. Furthermore, it was found that EL spectrum of the InGaN-AlInGaN MQW LED is less sensitive to the injection current. These observations all suggest that we can improve the properties of nitride-based LEDs by using AlInGaN as the barrier layer  相似文献

A numerical investigation has been conducted to explore the steady nonlinear low Prandtl number flow/thermal transition in a differentially heated cubic cavity. For small values of Rayleigh number (Ra), it is observed that initially there was only one symmetric steady-state solution. When the Ra was amplified, the system bifurcates from one fixed-point solution to the two stationary solutions, namely, Mode I and Mode II pitchfork bifurcations. This is due to the symmetric nature existing along the vertical and diagonal planes. The flow structure in the present nonlinear system consists of a pair of asymmetric counter-rotating helical cells in a double helix structure, foliated with invariant helically symmetric surfaces containing the fibre-like fluid particle orbits. Also the evolution of different symmetry-breaking orientations on the transverse and diagonal planes of the cavity was noticed. In the Mode I orientation a symmetric vortex coreline was observed. However, in the Mode II orientation a pair of anti-symmetric vortex corelines was observed. Detailed topological study was made based on the rule of Hunt and the structural stability criteria. Also the simulated results were corroborated with numerical evidence. The existence of the critical Ra values was ascertained with the aid of the predicted L2-error norms, thermal/flow iso-contours and streamlines. The route of Mode I orientation was made of the alternate symmetric and asymmetric flows as Ra was augmented.  相似文献
