Glazes are responsible for the majority of the final surface properties of ceramic products, including their chemical corrosion resistance in contact with solutions of either acid or alkaline reaction. It is known that by adjusting their molar compositions it is possible, to some extent, to control the reactivity of glazes with such solutions. However, the allowable range of molar composition changes is limited, because this would, at the same time, modify other glaze parameters, such as fusibility, colour, gloss, or hardness. The investigation results presented in the article demonstrate that there is a potential for a significant improvement in the chemical corrosion resistance and other surface parameters of glazes through selecting the grain size of particular groups of raw materials used. On the example of glazes intended for sanitary products it has been proved that the proper selection of the grain size of quartz, feldspars and all rest raw materials results in a distinct reduction of the degree of corrosion caused by the action of water solutions of NaOH and HCl. 相似文献

The size of bubbles generated using a single‐hole sparger, a multi‐hole sparger and a flotation cell were measured. While the size of bubbles generated from the single‐hole sparger does not depend on frother concentration, the bubble size strongly depends on frother concentration when the multi‐hole sparges, or flotation cell, are utilized. The bubbles size ceases to depend on frother at the concentrations exceeding the value characteristic for each frother and referred to as the critical coalescence (CCC). All the bubble size vs. frother concentration curves converge on a single curve. Aqueous solutions of the frothers that are characterized by low CCC values from foams quite stable under dynamic conditions. Since bubble coalescence can be inhibited by frother concentrations exceeding the CCC, sparing systems can be studied and compared only at frother concentrations that exceed CCC. 相似文献

Two clinical forms of functional dyspepsia (FD) are listed in the Rome III criteria: postprandial distress syndrome (PDS) and epigastric pain syndrome (EPS), differing in the recurrence of ailments depending on the diet. Continuous EPS (CEPS) is observed in some EPS patients, also at night, but its cause is still unknown. We showed previously that melatonin (MEL) homeostasis may be associated with FD. In the present work we evaluated selected components of melatonin homeostasis in patients with CEPS. The study included 30 patients with CEPS, 21 women and nine men, aged 21–49 years and 30 control subjects (EPS excluded); organic and mental diseases, as well as Helicobacter pylori infection, were excluded in both groups. The average severity of abdominal pain in the last three months was estimated in a 10-point scale (Visual Analog Scale). The levels of mRNA expression of arylalkylamine-N-acetyltransferase (AANAT) and hydroxyindole-O-methyltransferase (HIOMT), the main components of MEL homeostasis, were determined in gastric mucosa with real time PCR. The fasting serum level of MEL (at 09:00 a.m.) and circadian urine excretion of 6-sulfatoxymelatonin (6-HMS) were determined with ELISA. AANAT expression in antral mucosa of control subjects was 1.76 ± 0.41, in the gastric body 1.35 ± 0.38, and in the dyspeptic group 1.42 ± 0.38 (p < 0.05) and 0.92 ± 0.55 (p < 0.05), respectively. HIOMT expression in the control was 2.05 ± 0.70 in the antrum and 1.57 ± 0.69 in the body and in the CEPS group, it was: 1.51 ± 0.57 (p < 0.05) and 0.74 ± 0.31 (p < 0.001), respectively. MEL concentration (pg/mL) was 9.41 ± 3.09 in the control group and 5.62 ± 1.34 (p < 0.01) in the CEPS group. Urinary 6-HMS excretion (μg/24 h) was 11.40 ± 4.46 in the controls and 7.68 ± 2.88 (p < 0.05) in the CEPS. Moreover, a negative correlation was found between the tested parameters and severity of epigastric pain. These results indicate that patients with CEPS may display low level of AANAT and HIOMT expression in gastric mucosa, resulting in decreased MEL synthesis. 相似文献

Oxidation of pyrite by nitrate (autotrophic denitrification) was identified as the main cause for sulfate increase in drinking
water wells in an agriculturally used watershed, located in the north of Lower Saxony (Germany). Nitrate, which inducts this
microbial catalyzed process, is drained into ground water predominantly from agricultural fertilization. The increase of sulfate
in the ground water can only be stopped by reducing nitrate leaching into the ground water. To analyze the negative influence
of agricultural fertilization on the quality of ground water different fertilization strategies were deducted for an investigated
area of 890 ha. Calculated on the basis of nutrient balance of soil surface, the current average nitrogen balance in the investigated
area amounts to 91 kg N ha-1 a−1. Farm-gate balance of nutrients is a strong indicator for assessing potential nutrient losses caused by leaching. This indicator
shows comparable accuracy to the calculated nutrient balance of soil surface which demands, however, much more data input
for calculations. Nitrate concentrations in seepage water in 2 m depth layer of the soil from agricultural fields were simulated
with the model HERMES for the whole investigated area (agricultural land + forest). The nitrate concentration in seepage water
was calculated for the whole area on the basis of farm-gate nutrient balance as an annual average, which amounts to 14.0 mg NO3–N l−1 (62 mg NO3 l−1). In order to keep the nitrate concentration of the ground water below the threshold value for drinking water (EU-water directive:
11.3 mg NO3–N l−1 (50 mg NO3 l−1) and to limit pyrite oxidation, different scenarios with simulation studies to optimize fertilization measures were developed.
Only those scenarios which assured reduction of an average nitrate concentration in the drainage water below 11.3 mg NO3–N l−1 (50 mg NO3 l−1) without profit cuts for the farms were analyzed.

The defect structure of CoO is considered, using defect activities instead of concentrations. The proposed model, based on the Debye-Hückel (D-H) theory, assumes only one type of predominant ionic lattice defect, i.e., doubly ionized cation vacancies. Application of the mass-action law to the formation of doubly ionized cobalt vacancies results in the following equilibrium constant: K ={ V n Co }{h˙ }2 / p O2 1/2 = 3 × 10−4 exp[−120.6 (kJ)/ RT ]. Using a modified Jonker's formalism, we have determined the equilibrium constant of the intrinsic electronic equilibrium: K i ={e'}{h˙ }= 12.8 exp[−3.0 (eV)/ kT ]. The 4:1 cluster model has been considered and its application to the available experimental data for the deviation from stoichiometry, electrical conductivity, and the Seebeck coefticient has been analyzed. It has been shown that the degree of ionization of the cluster is −5. The equilibrium constant of formation is K 5 = [( V Co )Co i ]5− [h˙ ]5 p O2 3/2 = 4.6 exp[−167.5 (kJ)/ RT ]. It has been shown that the applicability of this model in describing CoO properties is limited to higher values of the deviation from the stoichiometric composition (y). At low y , defects in CoO can be considered as isolated. Then doubly ionized cobalt vacancies are assumed to be the predominant lattice defects. Their equilibrium constant of formation, determined from experimental data in the vicinity of the Co/CoO phase boundary by using an ideal approximation, is K V = [ V n Co ][h˙ ]2 p o2 −1/2 = 3.2 × 10−4 exp[−121.1 (kJ)/ RT ]. Excellent agreement between the equilibrium constant K V determined for low p O 2 and that resulting from the Debye Hückel model within the entire range of y has been found. 相似文献

Hypertension is accompanied by the over-activation of macrophages. Diuretics administered alone or in combination with hypotensive drugs may have immunomodulatory effects. Thus, the influence of tested drugs on mouse macrophage-mediated humoral immunity was investigated. Mice were treated intraperitoneally with captopril (5 mg/kg) with or without hydrochlorothiazide (10 mg/kg) or furosemide (5 mg/kg) by 8 days. Mineral oil-induced peritoneal macrophages were harvested to assess the generation of cytokines in ELISA, and the expression of surface markers was analyzed cytometrically. Macrophages were also pulsed with sheep red blood cells (SRBC) and transferred to naive mice for evaluation of their ability to induce a humoral immune response. Tested drugs increase the expression of surface markers important for the antigen phagocytosis and presentation. SRBC-pulsed macrophages from mice treated with captopril combined with diuretics increased the secretion of antigen-specific antibodies by recipient B cells, while macrophages of mice treated with hydrochlorothiazide or furosemide with captopril increased the number of antigen-specific B cells. Tested drugs alter the macrophage secretory profile in favor of anti-inflammatory cytokines. Our results showed that diuretics with or without captopril modulate the humoral response by affecting the function of macrophages, which has significant translational potential in assessing the safety of antihypertensive therapy. 相似文献

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of visual impairment in the aging population with poorly known pathogenesis and lack of effective treatment. Age and family history are the strongest AMD risk factors, and several loci were identified to contribute to AMD. Recently, also the epigenetic profile was associated with AMD, and some long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) were shown to involve in AMD pathogenesis. The Vax2os1/2 (ventral anterior homeobox 2 opposite strand isoform 1) lncRNAs may modulate the balance between pro- and anti-angiogenic factors in the eye contributing to wet AMD. The stress-induced dedifferentiation of retinal pigment epithelium cells can be inhibited by the ZNF503-AS1 (zinc finger protein 503 antisense RNA 2) and LINC00167 lncRNAs. Overexpression of the PWRN2 (Prader-Willi region non-protein-coding RNA 2) lncRNA aggravated RPE cells apoptosis and mitochondrial impairment induced by oxidative stress. Several other lncRNAs were reported to exert protective or detrimental effects in AMD. However, many studies are limited to an association between lncRNA and AMD in patients or model systems with bioinformatics. Therefore, further works on lncRNAs in AMD are rational, and they should be enriched with mechanistic and clinical studies to validate conclusions obtained in high-throughput in vitro research. 相似文献

Cas endonuclease-mediated genome editing provides a long-awaited molecular biological approach to the modification of predefined genomic target sequences in living organisms. Although cas9/guide (g)RNA constructs are straightforward to assemble and can be customized to target virtually any site in the plant genome, the implementation of this technology can be cumbersome, especially in species like triticale that are difficult to transform, for which only limited genome information is available and/or which carry comparatively large genomes. To cope with these challenges, we have pre-validated cas9/gRNA constructs (1) by frameshift restitution of a reporter gene co-introduced by ballistic DNA transfer to barley epidermis cells, and (2) via transfection in triticale protoplasts followed by either a T7E1-based cleavage assay or by deep-sequencing of target-specific PCR amplicons. For exemplification, we addressed the triticale ABA 8′-HYDROXYLASE 1 gene, one of the putative determinants of pre-harvest sprouting of grains. We further show that in-del induction frequency in triticale can be increased by TREX2 nuclease activity, which holds true for both well- and poorly performing gRNAs. The presented results constitute a sound basis for the targeted induction of heritable modifications in triticale genes. 相似文献
