Bifidobacterium cells were encapsulated in a mixed gel composed of alginate, pectin, and whey proteins. Two kinds of capsules were obtained: gel beads without membranes and gel beads with two membranes formed by the transacylation reaction. In vitro studies were carried out to determine the effects of simulated gastric pH and bile salts on the survival of free and encapsulated Bifidobacterium bifidum. The protective effects of gel beads without membranes and gel beads coated with two membranes formed by the transacylation reaction were evaluated. After 1 h in an acidic solution (pH 2.5), the free-cell counts decreased by 4.75 log units, compared with a <1-log decrease for entrapped cells. The free cells did not survive after 2 h of incubation at pH 2.5, while immobilized-cell counts decreased by about 2 log units. After incubation (1 or 3 h) in 2 and 4% bile salt solutions, the bifidobacterium mortality level for membrane-free gel beads (4 to 7 log units) was higher than that for free cells (2 to 3 log units). However, counts of bifidobacteria immobilized in membrane-coated gel beads decreased by <2 log units. Cell encapsulation in membrane-coated protein-polysaccharide gel beads could be used to increase the survival of healthy probiotic bacteria during their transit through the gastrointestinal tract.  相似文献

This article presents a network-controlled approach of user terminal mobility within anIP based WirelessLAN Access Network. In a first part, this article makes a review of the mobility support, on the subject of emergingWLAN technologies asHIPERLAN/2 andIEEE 802.11, on the one hand, and, regardingIP networks as currently studied withinIETF, on the other hand. Both types ofIP mobility protocols are presented, either global mobility protocols such as MobileIP, or local mobility management protocols (micro mobility). In the next part, the overall principles of our mobility management approach are explained; this approach is based on the implementation of a new network entity dedicated to the control of user terminal mobility. The last part details a practical implementation of this approach. The implementation is carried out on the basis of Hierarchical MobileIPv6 (HMIPv6). The experimental results confirm the importance to carefully plan and control the user terminal mobility within largeIP based Access Networks, as this brings benefit to the user as well as to the operator.  相似文献

In order to study an original detection architecture for future cosmology experiments based on wide band adding interferometry, we have tested a single baseline bench instrument based on commercial components. The instrument has been characterized in the laboratory with a wide band power detection setup. A method which allows us to reconstruct the complete transfer function of the interferometer has been developed and validated with measurements. This scheme is useful to propagate the spurious effects of each component till the output of the detector.  相似文献

This paper presents experimental data for penetration of nanoparticles in the 4–30 nm size range through fibreglass filters perforated with defined pinholes at 5 and 15 cm/s. Results show that, when the filter is damaged, penetration increases with decreasing particle diameter. This lower performance is more significant for filters with high airflow resistance. A model explaining the experimental data has been designed based on balanced, laminar airflow inside the pinhole; these conditions were confirmed by detailed study. The experimental points agreed very closely with this model.  相似文献

The sensitivity of criteria in detecting unsafe food was studied for a hypothetical ready-to-eat food supporting growth of Listeria monocytogenes during storage. The effects of the prevalence of the pathogen and of the duration of the shelf-life on the probability for servings to be unsafe and on the probabilities of detecting unsafe food were evaluated. The results obtained in this example show that the probability for servings to be unsafe increases with the prevalence and the shelf-life while the probabilities of detecting unsafe food depend above all on the prevalence of the pathogen. The current criteria used for L. monocytogenes can then sometimes be relatively ineffective to prevent the consumption of unsafe food with regard to the shelf-life of foods. The exposure assessment approach described in this study could be used to establish shelf-lives consistent with a defined acceptable risk.  相似文献

Jumping is used in nature by many small animals to locomote in cluttered environments or in rough terrain. It offers small systems the benefit of overcoming relatively large obstacles at a low energetic cost. In order to be able to perform repetitive jumps in a given direction, it is important to be able to upright after landing, steer and jump again. In this article, we review and evaluate the uprighting and steering principles of existing jumping robots and present a novel spherical robot with a mass of 14 g and a size of 18 cm that can jump up to 62 cm at a take-off angle of 75°, recover passively after landing, orient itself, and jump again. We describe its design details and fabrication methods, characterize its jumping performance, and demonstrate the remote controlled prototype repetitively moving over an obstacle course where it has to climb stairs and go through a window. The increasing interest of supercritical (SC) fluids for inorganic materials synthesis recently stimulated the development of innovative synthesis processes and strategies. The supercritical CO2 aided sol–gel process, developed for preparing various ceramic oxide powders with attractive applications in cosmetics, chromatography, catalysis or solid oxide fuel cells, usually suffer from both reproducibility problems and poor knowledge of the key parameters defining the final powder characteristics. In the present work a specific effort has been put on the understanding of reaction mechanisms and process parameters like co-solvent polarity and ageing time of the starting solution, which appeared to play a crucial role for the control of powder characteristics. Two different reaction mechanisms have been proposed to explain the formation of tetragonal yttria-doped zirconia powders by a batch process in either CO2/pentane or CO2/isopropanol mixtures. The first mechanism corresponds to a CO2 anti-solvent precipitation process while the other one is based on a condensation reaction as in the conventional sol–gel process. This improved understanding in particle formation allows better control of powder characteristics and reproducibility.  相似文献

The stability of parthenolide, the active ingredient in feverfew and a potential anti-inflammatory bioactive in beverages was evaluated at different pHs (2.9, 3.7, 4.6 and 6.0) during heat processing at 40–100 °C. The residual concentration of parthenolide was analysed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography and degradation kinetics determined using a non­isothermal method. Parthenolide degradation with thermal treatment followed pseudo-first order kinetics. The stability of parthenolide was significantly affected by pH and processing temperature. Feverfew infusions at near neutral pH levels exhibited good stability but a significant decrease in stability was observed at lower pHs. This model is likely to be a useful tool to predict the optimum pH and time-temperature profile required to retain parthenolide during heat processing.  相似文献

The assessment of the evolution of micro-organisms naturally contaminating food must take into account the variability of biological factors, food characteristics and storage conditions. A research project involving eight French laboratories was conducted to quantify the variability of growth parameters of Listeria monocytogenes obtained by challenge testing in five food products. The residual variability corresponded to a coefficient of variation (CV) of approximately 20% for the growth rate (μmax) and 130% for the parameter K = μmax × lag. The between-batch and between-manufacturer variability of μmax was very dependent on the food tested and mean CV of approximately 20 and 35% were observed for these two sources of variability, respectively. The initial physiological state variability led to a CV of 100% for the parameter K. It appeared that repeating a limited number of three challenge tests with three different batches (or manufacturers) and with different initial physiological states seems often necessary and adequate to accurately assess the variability of the behavior of L. monocytogenes in a specific food produced by a given manufacturer (or for a more general food designation).  相似文献
