Symmetric BEM formulations for 2-D steady-state and transit potential problems

This paper presents a new concept for symmetric boundary element method (SBEM) applicable to 2-D steady-state and transit potential problems. Two kinds of SBEM formulations are derived. Symmetry is obtained simply through matrix manipulation, and no hypersingularity appears. Therefore, SBEM is much easier than the traditional symmetric Galerkin BEM. Compared with the traditional asymmetric BEM, the present SBEM can reduce the computational cost for time domain problems only. However, when applied to BEM/FEM coupling procedure, SBEM can reduce the computational cost for both steady-state and time domain problems. Three numerical examples are included to illustrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the present formulations.     

High-yield synthesis of single-crystalline 3C-SiC nanowires by a facile autoclave route

Single-crystalline 3C-SiC nanowires have been synthesized in large scale through a one-step autoclave route by the reaction of SiCl₄, (C₅H₅)₂Fe and metallic Na at 500 °C. Electron microscopy investigations show that the nanowires have typical diameters of 15-50 nm, lengths up to several tens of micrometers and grow along the [111] direction. The possible growth mechanism of the nanowires is discussed.     

碳酸化分解工艺的改进与实践

本文针对烧结法生产氧化铝过程中,铝酸钠溶液的碳酸化分解工艺,由间断分解到连续分解的改进进行了论述,指出连续分解是碳酸化分解的发展方向。     

广钢3#高炉大修炉渣处理工艺探讨与分析

本文对处理高炉炉渣的图拉法工艺设计进行了总结，并对广钢3#高炉使用中出现的问题做了分析，生产实践表明，该工艺安全可靠，水渣质量好，而且有利于环境保护。     

Traction-based Completed Adjoint Double Layer Boundary Element Method in elasticity

This paper is concerned with a traction-based Completed Adjoint Double Layer Boundary Element Method to solve for the surface traction of a system of rigid particles embedded in an elastic matrix. The main feature of the method is a single layer representation of the displacement field, which leads to a system of second-kind integral equations for the traction field, the extreme eigenvalue of which could be deflated, allowing iterative solution strategies to be effectively applied. The method is therefore most suitable for large-scale simulations of particulate solids. The method is benchmarked against some known analytic solutions, including the difficult stress singularity problems at sharp edges. The effectiveness of the method in dealing with a large number of inclusions is also demonstrated with an elongational deformation problem involving up to 25 inclusions.Research supported by the Australian Research Council (to NP-T and X-JF) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (X-JF).     

Imaging of follicular dendritic cell tumours of the liver

Follicular dendritic cell tumour of the liver is a recently recognized entity. To date, only two cases have been described, both in the pathology literature. Histologically, it resembles an inflammatory pseudotumour and immunohistochemical and ultrastructural studies are required for its diagnosis. The ultrasound, computed tomography and angiographic features of two cases of follicular dendritic cell tumour of the liver are described in detail. One of the patients had multiple recurrences of this tumour. The imaging features are very similar to those of hepatocellular carcinoma. As follicular dendritic cell tumour is considered to be of low-grade malignant potential, in contrast to the dismal prognosis for hepatocellular carcinoma, it is important to be able to accurately distinguish between the two types of tumour prior to initiating definitive therapy.     

A new minimum zone method for evaluating flatness errors

A new minimum zone method for flatnes error analyis is proposed in this article. Based on the criteria for the minimum zone solution and strict rules for data exchange, a simple and rapid algorithm, called the control plane rotation scheme, is developed for the flatness analysis of a flat surface. Experimental work was performed, and some examples are given in terms of the minimum zone and least-squares solutions.     

粘土作为高放废物处置回填材料的可行性研究

本文以西北粘土为对象,对其压实行为、热传导、膨胀特性,以及吸附和渗透性能进行了初步研究,借以探讨西北粘土在高放废物处置中用作回填材料的可行性。试验表明,以西北粘土为基材,经过适当的热改性和吸附改性,在初始含水量约为9%,于70MPa 下成型,用作高放废物处置中的回填材料是可行的。
