Expertise in a certain stimulus domain enhances perceptual capabilities. In the present article, the authors investigate whether expertise improves perceptual processing to an extent that allows complex visual stimuli to bias behavior unconsciously. Expert chess players judged whether a target chess configuration entailed a checking configuration. These displays were preceded by masked prime configurations that either represented a checking or a nonchecking configuration. Chess experts, but not novice chess players, revealed a subliminal response priming effect, that is, faster responding when prime and target displays were congruent (both checking or both nonchecking) rather than incongruent. Priming generalized to displays that were not used as targets, ruling out simple repetition priming effects. Thus, chess experts were able to judge unconsciously presented chess configurations as checking or nonchecking. A 2nd experiment demonstrated that experts' priming does not occur for simpler but uncommon chess configurations. The authors conclude that long-term practice prompts the acquisition of visual memories of chess configurations with integrated form-location conjunctions. The major loss mechanism of photogenerated polarons was investigated in P3HT:PCBM solar cells by the photo-CELIV technique. For pristine and annealed devices, we find that the experimental data can be explained by a bimolecular recombination rate reduced by a factor of about 10 (pristine) and 25 (annealed) as compared to Langevin theory. Aided by a macroscopic device model, we discuss the implications of the lowered loss rate on the characteristics of polymer:fullerene solar cells.  相似文献

Here, we present the synthesis and characterization of low-density single-walled carbon nanotube-based aerogels (SWNT-CA). Aerogels with varying nanotube loading (0–55 wt.%) and density (20–350 mg cm?3) were fabricated and characterized by four-probe method, electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and nitrogen porosimetry. Several properties of the SWNT-CAs were highly dependent upon nanotube loading. At nanotube loadings of 55 wt.%, shrinkage of the aerogel monoliths during carbonization and drying was almost completely eliminated. Electrical conductivities are improved by an order of magnitude for the SWNT-CA (55 wt.% nanotubes) compared to those of foams without nanotubes. Surface areas as high as 184 m2 g?1 were achieved for SWNT-CAs with greater than 20 wt.% nanotube loading.  相似文献

Sintering and microstructure evolution of alkali-free calcium–alumo–borosilicate glass/α-Al2O3 composites (mean particle size ca. 2 μm) for low-temperature cofired ceramics were studied during heating at 5 K/min by heating microscopy, thermal analysis (DTA), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electron microscopy (SEM). Composites fully densify at ≈830°C, not essentially influenced by the dissolution of alumina and glass crystallization. Thus wollastonite, as first crystalline phase, was detectable at 840°C. Above 900°C, a pronounced crystallization of anorthite is evident, reaching 60 wt% at 1050°C. Rietveld analyses of XRD data revealed that anorthite precipitates at the expenses of alumina, which declines from ≈33 to <10 wt%, and wollastonite, which fully declines from its maximum of ≈19 wt%. Based on XRD, we discuss the evolution of crystal mass fractions, the residual glass composition, the glass viscosity, and the effective shear viscosity of the composites under study during heating.  相似文献

The radiation damage caused by argon ion bombardment during ion etching of thermally grown SiO2 films at an energy below 1 keV and a dose of about 1018 cm?2 has been studied by evaluating MOS C-V curves, FET characteristics, as well as Rutherford ion backscattering spectra. The bombarded samples revealed that ion beam etching in this energy range causes a damaged layer of 5–10 nm thickness at the single crystal silicon surface. Moreover, traces of metal atoms are found in the damaged layer together with argon atoms (≈ 1021cm?3).  相似文献

Single crystals of silicon doped LiFePO4 with a silicon content of 1% are grown successfully by the floating zone technique and characterized by single‐crystal and powder X‐ray diffraction, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, and chemical analysis. Electron paramagnetic resonance demonstrates the presence of only Fe2+; no traces of Fe3+ are found. Impedance spectroscopy as well as step‐function polarization/depolarization (DC) measurements are carried out using the cells Ti/LiFe(Si)PO4/Ti and LiAl/LiI/LiFe(Si)PO4/LiI/LiAl. The electronic and ionic conductivities as well as the Li‐diffusivity of the sample in the major crystallographic directions ([h00], [0k0], and [00l]) are determined. Within experimental error the transport properties along the b‐ and c‐axes are found to be the same but differ significantly from the a‐axis, which exhibits lower values. Compared to undoped LiFePO4, Si‐doping leads to an increase of the ionic conductivity while the electronic conductivity decreases, which is in agreement with a donor effect. The activation energies of conductivities and diffusivities are interpreted in terms of defect chemistry and relevant Brouwer diagrams are given.  相似文献

Polymer solar cell modules based on the standard polymer–fullerene system of to-date, P3HT–PCBM, have been prepared and characterized. We have observed a loss of only 20% when up-scaling the active area of the solar cell by a factor somewhat larger than 10. An average solar cell efficiency of 3% and a module efficiency of 1.9% for three serially interconnected solar cells of 5.4 cm2 each are reported. The route for further optimization of module performance is discussed based on analyzing the existing loss factors within this design.  相似文献

The tracer diffusion coefficient is analyzed for the case in which internal ionization equilibria have to be considered, using the concept of conservative ensembles. The relationships of the tracer diffusion coefficient with other phenome-nological parameters, viz., the chemical diffusion coefficient and the diffusion coefficient derived from the ionic conductivity, as well as with the defect diffusivities are given. The importance of mobile partially ionized or neutral defects is highlighted. In this respect the formulation of the tracer diffusion as an ambipolar diffusion of the different isotopes is helpful.  相似文献
