The application of a recurrent neural network structure to adaptive antenna arrays in a CDMA system is presented. This novel approach enables space and time diversity combining of the signals, and is evaluated over multipath fading channels. PURPOSE: To develop a device for percutaneous transrenal ureteral occlusion. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The device was a double-body Gianturco-R?sch biliary stent constrained at the junction of the two stents to create an hourglass shape. One stent was coated with silicone. One device was percutaneously placed in each of nine pigs through a 9-F Teflon sheath. Urographic and hematologic follow-up was performed for up to 12 weeks. RESULTS: Seven pigs showed immediate, complete ureteral occlusion, and two pigs exhibited persistent incomplete high-grade obstruction. All animals exhibited varying degrees of hydronephrosis and hydroureter. No device migration was noted. Minor complications were encountered during device placement in three pigs. Mucosal folds and villus-like projections that arose from the lamina propria protruded into the lumen of the ureter at the cranial end of the covered stent and around the wire of the caudal stent. Varying degrees of mural inflammation and edema were noted. CONCLUSION: Transrenal ureteral occlusion with the described device appears to be a viable method for treating urinary fistulas. 相似文献

Infantile myofibromatosis (IMF) is a distinct clinicopathologic entity characterized by solitary or multicentric tumors present at birth or in early infancy with a typical biphasic (central hemangiopericytoma-like, peripheral leiomyoma-like) histologic pattern. We present a case of IMF in two siblings with onset of disease in late childhood. Histology of the primary as well as several later tumors was characterized by a monophasic cellular appearance with a prominence of tiny capillaries initially suggesting an unusual vascular tumor. Diagnosis was established by the development of more characteristic biphasic lesions during the course of disease. Immunocytochemistry (Ulex, factor VIII, JC/70A [CD31], PAL-E, BMA120, EN4, QBEnd10 [CD34], SMS actin) and ultrastructural studies showed no (marked) differences between different types of IMF. The monophasic cellular pattern should be recognized as an unusual histologic manifestation of IMF, in particular in patients outside the classical setting or presentation. 相似文献

A simple bisection algorithm for the synthesis of planar inductors using a fast electromagnetic analysis algorithm is presented in this work. Both bisection and electromagnetic analysis algorithms are based on a set of heuristic and physical rules obtained from the study of the electromagnetic behavior of these planar devices. With this procedure, the benefits are two fold: (i) the number of iterations is kept moderately low in the synthesis loop, and (ii) the analysis at each iteration step is speed up without compromising accuracy. Gravity supports all the life activities present on earth. Microgravity environments have effect on the biological functions and physiological status of an individual. The present study was undertaken to investigate the effect of simulated microgravity on important regulatory enzymes of carbohydrate metabolism in liver using HLS mice model. Following hind limb unloading of mice for 11 days the animal’s average body weights were found to be not different, while the liver weights were decreased and found to be significantly different (p < 0.05) from control mice. Further, in liver the specific activity of hexokinase enzyme was reduced (p < 0.02) and the phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase activity was significantly increased in simulated microgravity subjected mice compared to control (p < 0.003). Immunoblot analysis show decreased phosphofructokinase-2 activity in HLS mice compared to control. Liver lactate dehydrogenase activity significantly reduced in simulated microgravity subjected mice (p < 0.005). Thus in our study the rodents have adapted to simulated microgravity conditions, with decreased glycolysis and increased gluconeogenesis in liver and reciprocally regulated. 相似文献

Lens ion homeostasis depends on Na,K-ATPase and NKCC1. TRPV4 and TRPV1 channels, which are mechanosensitive, play important roles in mechanisms that regulate the activity of these transporters. Here, we examined another mechanosensitive channel, piezo1, which is also expressed in the lens. The purpose of the study was to examine piezo1 function. Recognizing that activation of TRPV4 and TRPV1 causes changes in lens ion transport mechanisms, we carried out studies to determine whether piezo1 activation changes either Na,K-ATPase-mediated or NKCC1-mediated ion transport. We also examined channel function of piezo1 by measuring calcium entry. Rb uptake was measured as an index of inwardly directed potassium transport by intact mouse lenses. Intracellular calcium concentration was measured in Fura-2 loaded cells by a ratiometric imaging technique. Piezo1 immunolocalization was most evident in the lens epithelium. Potassium (Rb) uptake was increased in intact lenses as well as in cultured lens epithelium exposed to Yoda1, a piezo1 agonist. The majority of Rb uptake is Na,K-ATPase-dependent, although there also is a significant NKCC-dependent component. In the presence of ouabain, an Na,K-ATPase inhibitor, Yoda1 did not increase Rb uptake. In contrast, Yoda1 increased Rb uptake to a similar degree in the presence or absence of 1 µM bumetanide, an NKCC inhibitor. The Rb uptake response to Yoda1 was inhibited by the selective piezo1 antagonist GsMTx4, and also by the nonselective antagonists ruthenium red and gadolinium. In parallel studies, Yoda1 was observed to increase cytoplasmic calcium concentration in cells loaded with Fura-2. The calcium response to Yoda1 was abolished by gadolinium or ruthenium red. The calcium and Rb uptake responses to Yoda1 were absent in calcium-free bathing solution, consistent with calcium entry when piezo1 is activated. Taken together, these findings point to stimulation of Na,K-ATPase, but not NKCC, when piezo1 is activated. Na,K-ATPase is the principal mechanism responsible for ion and water homeostasis in the lens. The functional role of lens piezo1 is a topic for further study. 相似文献

The bit error rate performance of broadband wireless fixed access (FWA) systems over multipath fading channels is investigated in this paper. Linear MMSE equalization is examined theoretically for 16‐QAM and QPSK modulated FWA systems and shown to yield unsatisfactory performance. The theoretical analysis is validated by Monte‐Carlo simulations and proved to be reasonably accurate. It provides us an insight into the physical limitations imposed by the FWA channels and suggest solutions to improve the capacity and performance of future FWA systems. Pharmacologic and methodologic advances over the last decade have resulted in a body of information implicating serotonin as a mediator in the genesis of pre-eclamptic hypertension. Platelets contain the largest storage of serotonin in peripheral blood and have the ability to take up this amine from surroundings, store and release it by several mechanisms. Plasma and platelet serotonin concentrations and platelet serotonin uptake have been measured in 8 non-pregnant women, 12 normal pregnant women and 8 women with severe pre-eclampsia. Plasma serotonin concentration was significantly higher in severely preeclamptic women, compared with age and gestation matched normal pregnant women. In addition, plasma serotonin concentration was directly related to systolic and diastolic blood pressure with severity of the syndrome. Furthermore, platelet serotonin concentration in women with pre-eclampsia was significantly higher than in non-pregnant controls, but it was not significantly different from the normal pregnant women. Moreover, serotonin is effectively taken up by platelets through a saturable transport process. The calculated apparent Km for serotonin uptake process did not differ significantly among non-pregnant women, normal pregnant women and women with pre-eclampsia. However, Vmax values were significantly higher in women with pre-eclampsia than in the normotensive pregnant women. As the actions of serotonin in the periphery could be terminated primarily by active uptake system by platelets and placenta, significant alterations in the rate of transport could result in physiologically significant changes in serotonin levels. These data raise the possibility that abnormal regulation of transporter function is involved in the etiology of pre-eclampsia. 相似文献
