The aim of this study was to assess the cleaning capacity of the octenidine hydrochloride (OCT) used as root canal irrigant by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis. Sixty human unirradicular extracted teeth were randomly distributed in 6 groups (n = 10) according to irrigant solutions which were used during root canal preparation: G1, 0.1% OCT; G2, 2% chlorhexidine (CHX); G3, 2.5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl); G4, OCT + 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA); G5, 2.5% NaOCl + 17% EDTA and G6, distilled water. All specimens were instrumented with ProTaper system up to F4. Teeth were sectioned and prepared for SEM. The smear layer was evaluated using a 5‐score system and the data were analyzed by Kruskal–Wallis and Dunn (α = 0.05). In all root canal thirds there was no significant difference between OCT, CHX, NaOCl, and water groups (p > .05), and these groups showed higher smear layer values than NaOCl + EDTA and OCT + EDTA groups (p < .05). There was no significant difference between NaOCl + EDTA and OCT + EDTA groups (p > .05). It was concluded that OCT used as a single root canal irrigant presented poor cleaning capacity and could be used in association with a final irrigation with EDTA to obtain smear layer removal. 相似文献

Oxidation stability is a parameter of great importance for biodiesel quality control to both producers and subsequent consumers. To maintain the quality of biodiesel, currently the most effective and economical method is the addition of antioxidants that prevent or retard the biofuel oxidation reaction. In this study, efficiency and cost of synthetic antioxidants added to B100 biodiesel from soybean oil and pork fat were evaluated, using butylhydroxyanisole (BHA), butylhydroxytoluene (BHT) and tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), in pure form or in mixtures, according to a simplex-centroid mixture experimental design. Results demonstrate an increased induction period (IP) in all trials when compared to the control sample, and TBHQ was the only antioxidant alone that met all the specification standards, while BHT and BHA alone met only the American standard specifications. The antioxidant mixture that presented the highest synergistic effect was that of TBHQ and BHA. Multi-response optimization indicated an optimum formulation containing 75 % TBHQ and 25 % BHA with an IP of 7.27 h at 110 °C and the antioxidant mixture cost of 31.31 USD, to be added for a ton of biodiesel. This simplex-centroid mixture experimental design shows an ability to be applied in the biodiesel, oils and fats industry to evaluate the oxidation stability and the occurrence of synergism between different mixtures of synthetic or natural antioxidants and their costs. 相似文献

The performance of carbon fibers depends on the quality of the precursor and the conditions of the thermal treatment. In detail, for a PAN precursor fiber the viscosity of a spinning dope and the draw ratio during the spinning process needs to be considered. Through wet spinning, different types of PAN precursor fibers with defined spinning parameters, including solid content, solvent content in a bath, and especially draw ratio resulting in defined cross section diameters, were fabricated and analyzed with tensile tests, density investigations, SEM, TGA‐MS, FTIR, and XRD. The results show that the mechanical properties of the fibers correlate to crystallinity. The cross section diameter is strongly related to the morphology of the fibers after thermal treatment. By extending the postdrawing of PAN fibers high tenacities were obtained at the cost of the cross section shape. In addition, TGA measurements reveal trapped residues of the wet spinning process as well as show several chemical reactions takes place at the same time at different temperatures. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Calculation of the flow pattern in a new small homogenising valve design (Stansted, U.K.), able to reach operating pressure as high as , was investigated in the first part of this paper using a Computational Fluid Dynamics method. Numerical simulation results are used in the present paper to better understand the emulsification process in the Stansted high-pressure homogeniser.Deformation of drops is supposed to occur in the intense elongational flow caused by the restriction between the piston and the seat of the valve. Deformation may be mainly followed by drop disruption in the narrow valve gap. Break-up probably also occurred in the highly turbulent region, located just at the exit of the gap, and underlined by the numerical investigation. Cavitation and the rate of recoalescence, first assumed from numerical results, are determined thank to experimental methods. Intensities of both phenomena strongly increase with homogenising pressure. Final droplet size of model oil-in-water emulsions is then the result of equilibrium between droplet break-up and recoalescence, which strongly depends on operating pressure. 相似文献

In this study, for the first time a full-scale membrane bioreactor (MBR) was investigated with focus on organic compounds in activated sludge over a period of approximately 2 years. Soluble extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) in the sludge supernatant and permeate as well as bound EPS extracted from fouled membranes were determined photospectrometrically and revealed a typical composition of three main components in the order metals>humic acids>carbohydrates>proteins. Results showed an important influence on membrane fouling by soluble humic substances and carbohydrates in complexes with metal cations. It was found that Fe(2+) and Fe(3+) play a decisive role in natural organic matter (NOM) complexation and subsequent membrane blockage. The determination of molar mass distribution in supernatant and permeate by size exclusion chromatography (SEC) revealed a significant retention of macromolecular compounds by the porous membranes in the range of 10-50%. 相似文献

This work investigated the pH, titratable acidity and total solids of the cassava starch fermentation water, using the traditional method and a method modified through the addition of glucose. Sour cassava starch production controlled by the characteristic of the fermentation water produced the best product (biscuit specific volume of 7.66 ± 0.41 mL g?1) at 33th day of fermentation in the modified method and at 85th day (biscuit specific volume of 6.53 ± 0.59 mL g?1) in traditional method. But, comparatively to the commercial sour cassava starch (biscuit specific volume of 3.48 ± 0.12 mL g?1), both traditional and modified methods, controlled by titratable acidity of fermentation water, can be retired from the fermentation tank in the 19th and 32th day of fermentation, with biscuit specific volume of 4.75 ± 0.30 and 5.17 ± 0.46 mL g?1, respectively. Determining fermentation time can help to standardise sour cassava starch and to promote future applications of the fermentation water as a raw material. 相似文献
