Dynamic instability of decentralized wind energy farms is a major issue to deliver continuous green energy to electricity consumers. This instability is caused by variations of voltage and frequency parameters due to intermittencies in wind power. Previously, droop control and inverter-based schemes have been proposed to regulate the voltage by balancing reactive power, while inertial control, digital mapping technique of proportional-integral-differential (PID) controller and efficiency control strategy have been developed to regulate the frequency. In this paper, voltage stability is improved by a new joint strategy of distribution static compensator (DSTATCOM) six-pulse controller based reactive power management among decentralized wind turbines and controlled charging of capacitor bank. The frequency stability is ensured by a joint coordinated utilization of capacitor bank and distributed wind power turbines dispatching through a new DSTATCOM six-pulse controller scheme. In both strategies, power grid is contributed as a backup source with less priority. These new joint strategies for voltage and frequency stabilities will enhance the stable active power delivery to end users. A system test case is developed to verify the proposed joint strategies. The test results of the proposed new schemes are proved to be effective in terms of stability improvement of voltage, frequency and active power generation.  相似文献

Reactive dyes containing the bis-( N -carboxymethylamino)monoquaternary-triazine-bis-ethylsulphone [bis-( N -CMA)-MQT-bis-ES] group and related derivatives have been synthesised. When boiled under mildly acidic conditions, such dyes are able to form two small vinylsulphone dye molecules through a process of 1,2-trans elimination. The bis-( N -CMA)-MQT-bis-ES dye was applied using different dyeing procedures (novel dyeing methods 1 and 2). The dyeing and soaping-off results of bis-( N -CMA)-MQT-bis-ES dye were compared with a model sulphatoethylsulphone dye applied using the conventional alkaline fixation method used for applying this type of reactive dye to cotton. The bis-( N -CMA)-MQT-bis-ES dye showed higher exhaustion and fixation values applied using novel dyeing method 2 compared with the sulphatoethylsulphone dye applied using the alkaline fixation method. The soaping-off efficiency for the large bis-( N -CMA)-MQT-bis-ES dye applied using novel dyeing method 2 was the same as that obtained for the sulphatoethylsulphone dye applied using the alkaline fixation method.  相似文献

OBJECTIVES: The goal of this study was to provide estimates of race- and sex-specific survival rates over a 10-year period for a cohort of 49,752 Medicare patients admitted to the hospital in 1984 with a diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. METHODS: Data were derived from Medicare Provider Analysis and Review Record inpatient claims files and the National Death Index file. RESULTS: For a primary diagnosis of pulmonary embolism, median survival times among Black men and women were 2.5 years and 5.2 years, respectively; for White men and women, the median survival times were 4.3 years and 5.9 years, respectively. Median survival times for Black men and women and White men and women with a secondary diagnosis of pulmonary embolism were 0.4 years, 0.7 years, 0.8 years, and 1.4 years, respectively. Survival rates declined with advancing age. CONCLUSIONS: Overall, survival rates among Blacks were lower than those among Whites, and men had lower survival rates than women. These survival estimates provide new insights into outcomes following pulmonary embolism in hospitalized elderly people.  相似文献

Global wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) production is constrained by different biotic and abiotic stresses, which are increasing with climate change. An improved root system is essential for adaptability and sustainable wheat production. In this study, 10 pairs of near-isogenic lines (NILs)—targeting four genomic regions (GRs) on chromosome arms 4BS, 4BL, 4AS, and 7AL of hexaploid wheat—were used to phenotype root traits in a semi-hydroponic system. Seven of the 10 NIL pairs significantly differed between their isolines for 11 root traits. The NIL pairs targeting qDSI.4B.1 GR varied the most, followed by the NIL pair targeting qDT.4A.1 and QHtscc.ksu-7A GRs. For pairs 5–7 targeting qDT.4A.1 GR, pair 6 significantly differed in the most root traits. Of the 4 NIL pairs targeting qDSI.4B.1 GR, pairs 2 and 4 significantly differed in 3 and 4 root traits, respectively. Pairs 9 and 10 targeting QHtscc.ksu-7A GR significantly differed in 1 and 4 root traits, respectively. Using the wheat 90K Illumina iSelect array, we identified 15 putative candidate genes associated with different root traits in the contrasting isolines, in which two UDP-glycosyltransferase (UGT)-encoding genes, TraesCS4A02G185300 and TraesCS4A02G442700, and a leucine-rich repeat receptor-like protein kinase (LRR-RLK)-encoding gene, TraesCS4A02G330900, also showed important functions for root trait control in other crops. This study characterized, for the first time, that these GRs control root traits in wheat, and identified candidate genes, although the candidate genes will need further confirmation and validation for marker-assisted wheat breeding.  相似文献

This study presents the successful synthesis of praseodymium oxide, Pr6O11 and hausmannite manganese oxide, Mn3O4 nanoparticles, along with a novel synthesis of (Pr6O11/Mn3O4) nanocomposites by employing the hydrothermal route followed by post thermal annealing. X-ray Diffraction, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-ray characterization techniques are being adapted to analyze the physical characteristics of all the synthesized materials. XRD results reveal the crystalline nature of the synthesized materials. FE-SEM results display the irregular nanograins of Mn3O4 and a regular network of interconnected Pr6O11 nanoparticles. Nitrogen adsorption/desorption tests confirm the mesoporous nature of all the synthesized electrode materials. The Pr6O11/Mn3O4 ??2 electrode material exhibits an outstanding specific capacitance of 794.58?F/g at a current density of 0.5?A/g, as compared to the 521.24?F/g for the Pr6O11 electrode material. These investigations provide an easy and efficient method to develop nanocomposites (Pr6O11/Mn3O4) with better electrochemical characteristics, as electrode materials for supercapacitor applications.  相似文献

Abstract: Powdered infant formula has previously been linked to the transmission of various bacterial pathogens in infants resulting in life‐threatening disease and death. Survival studies of 2 common foodborne pathogens, Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi and Shigella dysenteriae, in powdered infant formula have not been previously studied despite the potentially devastating consequences from ingestion of these organisms, particularly by newborns, in case of a natural or deliberate contamination event. Therefore, to better predict the risk of S. Typhi and S. dysenteriae infection from consumption of infant formula, the present study was undertaken to determine survival of these microorganisms in dry infant formula under varying atmospheric conditions. A 2‐strain cocktail of S. Typhi and a 3‐strain cocktail of S. dysenteriae were stored for up to 12 wk in dehydrated infant formula in an ambient air or nitrogen atmosphere. Viable counts of S. Typhi at 12 wk in infant formula revealed a 2.9‐ and 1.69‐log decrease in ambient air and nitrogen atmosphere, respectively. Viable counts of S. dysenteriae at 12 wk in infant formula revealed a 0.81‐ and 0.42‐log decrease in ambient air and nitrogen atmosphere, respectively. These results show that S. Typhi and S. dysenteriae can remain viable for prolonged periods of time in powdered infant formula, and the presence of nitrogen enhances survival. Practical Application: Our goal in this work was to study the survival of S. Typhi and S. dysenteriae in dehydrated storage conditions in infant formula. This interest is partially generated by the possibility of using these 2 microorganisms to deliberately contaminate the food supply. The outcome of this study will help us to have a better idea how to respond and react to the risk of deliberate food contamination.  相似文献

Supplementary cementing materials (SCM) have become an integral part of high strength and high performance concrete mix design. These may be naturally occurring materials, industrial wastes, or byproducts or the ones requiring less energy to manufacture. Some of the commonly used supplementary cementing materials are fly ash, silica fume (SF), granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), rice husk ash (RHA) and metakaolin (MK), etc. Metakaolin is obtained by the calcination of kaolinite. It is being used very commonly as pozzolanic material in mortar and concrete, and has exhibited considerable influence in enhancing the mechanical and durability properties of mortar and concrete. This paper presents an overview of the work carried out on the use of MK as partial replacement of cement in mortar and concrete. Properties reported in this paper are the fresh mortar/concrete properties, mechanical and durability properties.  相似文献

Many studies have been conducted on the filtration of microparticles using the acoustic radiation force of ultrasonic standing wave. The present work concerns a flow-through particle filtration method by utilizing frequency varying ultrasound. The periodical frequency sweep of the ultrasonic standing wave translocates particles across a microchannel, where particles in fluid flow are filtrated without barriers. The present filtration technique in a microfluidic channel was proposed conceptually in the 1990s. However, its experimental realization on actual particles in a microfluidic channel has not been carried out in a notable way. Several sizes of polystyrene microspheres (10 μm to 90 μm) and silicon carbide (SiC) particles (37 μm) suspended in water were applied as a test sample. For filtration of those particles, a Y-branched microfluidic channel with one inlet and two outlets was made out of steel and acrylic as a form of modulized device. Ultrasound of a few MHz in band frequency (1.75 MHz to 3.05 MHz) was transmitted into one side of the channel wall to generate a standing wave field in fluid flow. The periodical frequency sweep operation showed successful filtration performance, whereby particles in water flowed into one outlet and purified water flowed into the other outlet of the Y branch of the channel.  相似文献

Studies on the evaporation phenomenon of a pure ethanol droplet have been mostly confined to the semianalytical modeling in stagnant ambient. Investigation into this aspect in a convective environment by considering the Navier–Stokes equation is also minimal. Hence, in this study we analyze and investigate the evaporation characteristics of a single-component spherical-shaped isolated pure ethanol droplet under force convective air environment by considering both gas- and liquid-phase motions, nonunitary Lewis number in the interface, variable Stefan flow (blowing) effect, and the transient droplet heating. The finite difference method is utilized while solving the governing equations of the spherical polar coordinate system for species, momentum, and energy transfer. The maximum Reynolds number and ambient temperature are kept at 100 and 600 K, respectively. The present work is validated by comparing the normalized surface regression curve of the droplet with the earlier experimental and theoretical results. Using the current simulated data, flow and temperature profiles of both gas and liquid regions are visualized in streamline and isotherm contour plots at various instants of time. It is observed that at a moderate Reynolds number a detached vortex forms at the downstream location of the droplet. However, the detachment length increases with time. The temperature gradients along the droplet surface are observed at the initial stage. Moreover, the heat-up period occupies about 20% of the total lifetime of the droplet. The droplet life and heat-up period decrease with an increase in free-stream velocity. In addition, the saturation temperature increases with ambient temperature.  相似文献

Thermal stress and thermomechanical coupling behaviors are essential to design 3D braided composite materials under impact loading. Here we report the thermal/mechanical coupling properties of 3D carbon fiber/epoxy matrix braided composite under impact compressions. The compressive behaviors of the 3D braided composites with different braiding angles have been tested. A high-speed camera system was used to capture the compressive deformation and damage developments. Two material models described as “with thermal parameter (WT) model” and “without thermal parameter (NT) model” were established to calculate thermal stress induced from impact compression. Both the two models give reasonable predictions. The plastic deformation energy of the composite is found to increase with braiding angle, resulting in higher temperature and greater thermal stress. The difference between the stress curves obtained from two models increases with the increase in braiding angle. Although the effect of thermal stress on the stress–strain curve obtained from two models is not obvious for the composite with smaller braided angle, the stress level of the resin and fiber tows of the WT model is higher than that of the NT model. The resin of the WT model has damages earlier and more serious. Likewise, the interface damage is also more serious.  相似文献
