This study examined the effects of gradually replacing grass silage with whole-crop barley silage on feed intake, ruminal and total tract digestibility, and milk yield in lactating dairy cows. Four dairy cows in early lactation, equipped with rumen cannulas, were fed 4 diets over four 21-d periods. The diets consisted of 4 forage mixtures of grass silage and whole-crop barley silage supplemented with 8.9 kg/d of concentrates [dry matter (DM) basis]. The proportion of barley silage in the forage was adjusted to 0, 0.20, 0.40, and 0.60 kg/kg of DM. Ruminal nutrient metabolism was measured on the basis of digesta flow entering the omasal canal. Ammonia concentrations and volatile fatty acid profiles were determined in the rumen fluid. Ruminal digestion and passage kinetics were assessed by the rumen evacuation technique. Replacement of grass silage with barley silage had no effect on DM, digestible organic matter, or neutral detergent fiber (NDF) intake, but starch intake increased, whereas nitrogen and digestible NDF (dNDF) intake decreased. Increases in the proportion of barley silage linearly decreased milk yield, and the molar proportion of acetate in the rumen, and increased that of propionate, butyrate, and valerate. Decreases in milk yield due to inclusion of barley silage were attributed to decreases in diet digestibility and nutrient supply to the animal. Barley silage linearly decreased organic matter digestibility in the total tract and NDF and dNDF digestibility in the rumen and the total tract, and decreased nonammonia N flow entering the omasal canal. No significant differences between diets were noted in the digestion rate of dNDF or passage rate of indigestible NDF from the rumen. Decreases in organic matter and NDF digestibility were attributed to the higher indigestible NDF concentration of barley silage compared with that of grass silage and to the smaller pool size of dNDF in the rumen.  相似文献

The fundamentals of technology diffusion are introduced in this paper. Mathematical and heuristic (loose) modeling are defined and illustrated with real data. Starting with the embryonic phase, diffusion undergoes growing and mature phases and ends in the aging phase. The cumulative adoption function (of time) denoting the total number of users of a certain product is the output of the diffusion model used to either predict future trends (e.g. sales) or estimate certain model parameters. Problems often encountered in mathematical modeling and analysis are presented. Some of these shortcomings can be alleviated through loose modeling. A case study of mobile telephone diffusion in Finland is presented to illustrate some of the modeling principles and analysis.  相似文献

A wireless radio transmitter with an integrated variable-impedance antenna is demonstrated. The transmit signal is connected via a switch to the antenna at one of several feed points that correspond to different load impedances that are optimal for the power amplifier at different transmit power levels. It is shown that this can be used to improve the efficiency of the transmission at low and medium transmit powers. The variable antenna load is demonstrated with a planar inverted-F antenna, but the method can be applied to any antenna with suitable impedances.  相似文献

Methylazoxymethanol acetate (MAM) is a substance that inhibits migration of neurons in the embryonic brain. After intraperitoneal injection of two different doses of MAM to pregnant rats, microcephaly with or without complete development of the cerebral cortex was observed in every litter. High MAM doses (30 mg/kg) resulted in the lack of superficial layers (II-IV) of the cerebral cortex when the deep layers (V, VI) were seen. The claustrum was present but composed of loosely packed, medium-size, triangular or fusiform neurons with anarchic oriented long axes. After administration of low MAM doses (14 mg/kg) two different parts (medial and lateral) of the insular claustrum were observed. Our results suggest that neurons of the insular claustrum create two different subpopulations of cells, which were similar to that observed in primitive insectivore (e.g., hedgehog), but fuse in development.  相似文献

Camelina is an ancient oilseed crop that produces an oil rich in cis-9,cis-12 18:2 (linoleic acid, LA) and cis-9,cis-12,cis-15 18:3 (α-linolenic acid, ALA); however, reports on the use of camelina oil (CO) for ruminants are limited. The present study investigated the effects of incremental CO supplementation on animal performance, milk fatty acid (FA) composition, and milk sensory quality. Eight Finnish Ayrshire cows (91 d in milk) were used in replicated 4 × 4 Latin squares with 21-d periods. Treatments comprised 4 concentrates (12 kg/d on an air-dry basis) based on cereals and camelina expeller containing 0 (control), 2, 4, or 6% CO on an air-dry basis. Cows were offered a mixture of grass and red clover silage (RCS; 1:1 on a dry matter basis) ad libitum. Incremental CO supplementation linearly decreased silage and total dry matter intake, and linearly increased LA, ALA, and total FA intake. Treatments had no effect on whole-tract apparent organic matter or fiber digestibility and did not have a major influence on rumen fermentation. Supplements of CO quadratically decreased daily milk and lactose yields and linearly decreased milk protein yield and milk taste panel score from 4.2 to 3.6 [on a scale of 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent)], without altering milk fat yield. Inclusion of CO linearly decreased the proportions of saturated FA synthesized de novo (4:0 to 16:0), without altering milk fat 18:0, cis-9 18:1, LA, and ALA concentrations. Milk fat 18:0 was low (<5 g/100 g of FA) across all treatments. Increases in CO linearly decreased the proportions of total saturates from 58 to 45 g/100 g of FA and linearly enriched trans-11 18:1, cis-9,trans-11 18:2, and trans-11,cis-15 18:2 from 5.2, 2.6, and 1.7 to 11, 4.3, and 5.8 g/100 g of FA, respectively. Furthermore, CO quadratically decreased milk fat trans-10 18:1 and linearly decreased trans-10,cis-12 18:2 concentration. Overall, milk FA composition on all treatments suggested that one or more components in camelina seeds may inhibit the complete reduction of 18-carbon unsaturates in the rumen. In conclusion, CO decreased the secretion of saturated FA in milk and increased those of the trans-11 biohydrogenation pathway or their desaturation products. Despite increasing the intake of 18-carbon unsaturated FA, CO had no effect on the secretions of 18:0, cis-9 18:1, LA, or ALA in milk. Concentrates containing camelina expeller and 2% CO could be used for the commercial production of low-saturated milk from grass- and RCS-based diets without major adverse effects on animal performance.  相似文献

Reverse osmosis process for the concentration of black currant juice was carried using AFC-99 tubular membrane at 30 °C and 45 bar. The contents of selected flavonols and anthocyanins were analyzed after centrifugation; enzyme treatment by Panzym Super E and by Rohapect berry followed by centrifugation; and ultrafiltration black currant juices and juice concentrates. The total soluble solid (TSS) content of the juices increased from the initial 17.6–17.9 °Brix to 24–24.8 °Brix in the case of the centrifuged juice in the concentration process. Similarly, it increased from 14.5–15.5 °Brix to 23.1–23.4 °Brix for the Panzym Super E treated juice, and from 16.1–16.9 °Brix to 22.5–23.1 °Brix for the Rohapect berry treated black currant juices. The ultrafiltered juice had the lowest initial TSS content between 14.1 and 14.9 °Brix and it increased to 22.1–23.1 °Brix. The average permeate fluxes during the concentration process were 7.3 L m−2 h−1 for the centrifuged juice, 11.9 L m−2 h−1 for the Panzym Super E treated juice, 9.2 and 13.1 L m−2 h−1 for the Rohapect berry treated and ultrafiltered juice, respectively. Analysis indicated that the enzymatic treatment resulted in the increase of anthocyanin and flavonol content of the juices. The centrifugation process decreased the amount of anthocyanins and flavonols to some extent. The juice clarified by ultrafiltration had significantly lower concentrations of anthocyanins and flavonols, while the juices treated by Panzym Super E had the highest levels of these flavonoids. This study recommends enzymatic pre-treatment by Panzym Super E, since it improves the permeate flux in reverse osmosis during the concentration process, and results in a juice concentrates highest in anthocyanins and flavonols.  相似文献

This study investigates commuter and driver exposure to aerosol particles in buses and trams in Helsinki, Finland. Particle number and PM2.5 concentrations were determined in the cabin and the driver's compartment. In addition, the < 2.5 µm black carbon concentration was measured in the driver's compartment and PM2.5 was collected for elemental analysis in the cabin. The measurements were repeated on two generations of buses and trams including two measurement days in each vehicle type. Fine particle number and mass concentrations in the driver's compartments were only slightly increased compared to Helsinki background air. Daily average ratios of number and mass to the background varied in range 0.8-4.3 and 1.0-2.9, respectively, both being the highest in the older bus type. However, the drivers were exposed to elevated levels of black carbon, which some studies have addressed to be strongly correlated with adverse health effects. The daily average ratio of black carbon to the background varied between 2.4 and 11.4. Additionally, the black carbon concentration had spatial variation. The drivers were exposed to higher peak concentrations of black carbon in downtown area. Particle concentrations were smaller in the driver's compartment than in the cabin. The newer technology in the newer model of the tram and bus seemed to decrease driver exposure to aerosol particles.  相似文献

A scattering technique for measuring reactive antenna input impedance is described. The antenna scattering is measured with three different loads: an open circuit, a conjugate match, and a reactive match. The load reactances tune the antenna into resonance at the measurement band. Theory and error considerations are presented, as well as measurement results of two ultra high frequency radio frequency identification antennas. The measurements were performed in a gigahertz transverse electromagnetic mode cell. The measured impedances are within about 10% of the simulated values for a dipole-like antenna. The results of a planar inverted-F antenna are somewhat more complex, but also supported by the presented simulations and the coaxial impedance measurement results.  相似文献
