A study of the physiological behaviour of the synthetic compound Orthonil (alpha-chloro-beta-(3-chloro-o-tolyl)-propionitrile revealed a strong auxin activity in higher plants. Otherwise, Orthonil appeared not to be a herbicide-auxin. It is metabolized intensively in plant tissues. Among the identified metabolites, two compounds were detected which also exert a high auxin activity. It is concluded that at least a part of the apparent auxin activity of Orthonil may be due to alpha-(3-chloro-o-tolyl) acetic acid, one metabolite of Orthonil. Although Orthonil strongly stimulates elongation growth, this growth is not accompanied by a stimulated ethylene evolution as is the case with other auxins. A possible metabolic pathway of Orthonil is discussed.  相似文献

Systolic hypertension was studied in 92 patients, aged 60 to 103 years, some of them being followed-up for periods up to 8 years. The examination included that of haemodynamics, functional state of the heart and gas composition of blood (by the dye dilution technique, polycardiography, teleradiography, Sechenov and van Slyke methods, the micro-Astrup technique). The previously reported concept of the author was proved, i.e. the immediate haemodynamic cause of arterial pressure elevation in this pathology consists in an increased cardiac output against the background of an increased total elastic resistance of the arterial system. The elevation of the cardiac output is due not only to the neuro-humoral disorders in the regulation of arterial pressure in old age, but also to the adaptational factors directed to the improvement of oxygen transport and consumption by the tissues when the premeability of the vascular-tissuemembranes is impaired.  相似文献

The cytochemical properties of metaphase chromosomes from Chinese hamster and human cells were studied by flow cytometry. This technique allows precise quantitation of the fluorescence properties of individual stained chromosome types. Chromosomes were stained with the following fluorescent DNA stains: Hoechst 33258, DAPI, chromomycin A3, ethidium bromide, and propidium iodide. The relative fluorescence of individual chromosome types varied depending on the stain used, demonstrating that individual chromosome types differ in chemical properties. Flow measurements were performed as a function of stain and chromosome concentration to characterize the number and distribution of stain binding sites. Flow analysis of double stained chromosomes show that bound stains interact by energy transfer with little or no binding competition. For most hamster chromosomes, there is a strong correlation between relative fluorescence and stain base preference suggesting that staining differences may be determined primarily by differences in average base composition. A few hamster chromosome types exhibit anomalous staining which suggests that some other property, such as repetitive DNA sequences, also may be an important determinant of chromosomal staining.  相似文献

The study compared diagnostic potential of magnetocardiography (MCG), electrocardiography (ECG) and echocardiography (echo-CG) in 18 patients with arterial hypertension (AH). 32 healthy males served as control. Elements of MCG from normal subjects have been analyzed morphologically in 36 points of precordial leads. Left ventricular hypertrophy was registered at echo-CG, MCG, ECG in 11 (61%), 16 (84%) and 7 (34%) of the AH patients, respectively. Left atrial hypertrophy was discovered primarily by echo-CG and MCG. Defects in ventricular repolarization were recorded by MCg in 7 (39%) patients basing on MCG, echo-CG and rarely ECG signs of left ventricular hypertrophy. MCG is recommended as an effective tool in diagnosis of "hypertensive heart".  相似文献

U8 small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA) is essential for metazoan ribosomal RNA (rRNA) processing in nucleoli. The sequences and structural features in Xenopus U8 snoRNA that are required for its nucleolar localization were analyzed. Fluorescein-labeled U8 snoRNA was injected into Xenopus oocyte nuclei, and fluorescence microscopy of nucleolar preparations revealed that wild-type Xenopus U8 snoRNA localized to nucleoli, regardless of the presence or nature of the 5' cap on the injected U8 snoRNA. Nucleolar localization was observed when loops or stems in the 5' portion of U8 that are critical for U8 snoRNA function in rRNA processing were mutated. Therefore, sites of interaction in U8 snoRNA that potentially tether it to pre-rRNA are not essential for nucleolar localization of U8. Boxes C and D are known to be nucleolar localization elements (NoLEs) for U8 snoRNA and other snoRNAs of the Box C/D family. However, the spatial relationship of Box C to Box D was not crucial for U8 nucleolar localization, as demonstrated here by deletion of sequences in the two stems that separate them. These U8 mutants can localize to nucleoli and function in rRNA processing as well. The single-stranded Cup region in U8, adjacent to evolutionarily conserved Box C, functions as a NoLE in addition to Boxes C and D. Cup is unique to U8 snoRNA and may help bind putative protein(s) needed for nucleolar localization. Alternatively, Cup may help to retain U8 snoRNA within the nucleolus.  相似文献

It has been experimentally found that larval and pulmonary paragonimiasis types are caused by the trematode Paragonimus westermani ichunensis. The development of either paragonimiasis in nontypical definitive hosts depends on the stage of larval development when they penetrate into the mammal. Only the P. westermani ichunensis trematode is likely to develop with the participation of Juga mollusks on the territory of the Primorye.  相似文献

We characterize the meander of re-entrant excitation in a model of a sheet of mammalian ventricular tissue, and its control by resonant drift under feedback driven stimulation. The Oxsoft equations for excitability in a guinea pig single ventricular cell were incorporated in a two dimensional reaction-diffusion system to model homogeneous, isotropic tissue with a plane wave conduction velocity of 0.35 m s-1. Re-entrant spiral wave solutions have a spatially extended transient motion (linear core) that settles down into rotation with an irregular period of 100-110 ms around an irregular, multi-lobed spiky core. In anisotropic tissue this would appear as a linear conduction block. The typical velocity of drift of the spiral wave induced by low amplitude resonant forcing is 0.4 cm s-1.  相似文献
