The environmental stress cracking (ESC) of acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) copolymer caused by a non-ionic surfactant (poly-oxyethylene alkylether) was studied by constant-load tensile creep tests and edge crack tension (ECT) tests. The fracture surfaces were investigated by a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the morphology of the crack tip was investigated by a transmission electron microscope (TEM). It was found that the results of the creep tests performed in the non-ionic surfactant were very different from those performed in air. SEM images of the fracture surfaces showed that there were three different mechanisms of fracture and that specimens had a tendency to rupture by ESC when the stress was small. The results of the ECT tests and the TEM images showed that the change in the mechanism of the fracture was attributable to the change of morphology at the crack tip.  相似文献

This paper proposes a novel control method based on the virtual AC/DC/AC conversion for the matrix converter. The virtual AC/DC/AC conversion method is a very simple strategy to control the input current and the output voltage for the matrix converter. There are two new topics proposed in this paper. First, this paper proposes the minimum switching loss modulation on the virtual rectifier. In our proposed modulation, only two arms switching in the virtual rectifier using DC link current control by the virtual inverter can obtain clean sinusoidal input current. Second, a novel lean controlled carrier modulation on the virtual inverter is proposed. The leans of the triangle carrier are controlled by the duty ratio of the rectifier side pulse. The lean controlled carrier reduces harmonic distortion of the input current by avoiding interference between the rectifier control and the inverter control. These new proposals are confirmed by simulation and experimental results. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression is associated with advanced-stage cancer and contributes to tumor progression, invasion, and metastasis. Membrane type matrix metalloproteinase (MT-MMP) has a potential transmembrane domain at the C terminus and activates pro-MMP-2, which is mainly produced from interstitial fibroblasts. Its expression on the membrane of invasive tumor cells results in the pericellular space degradation at cell-matrix contact sites and renders cancer cells more invasive at the migration front. To elucidate the relationship between MT-MMP expression and metastasis and prognosis in gastric cancer patients, MT-MMP expression was analyzed immunohistochemically in 127 primary tumors and results were correlated with several prognostic parameters and patient's survival. MT-MMP immunoreactivity was stained on the cell membrane of cancer cells and fibroblasts in the invasion front. MT-MMP was detected in 72 tumors (57%) (MT-MMP-positive). MT-MMP expression was closely associated with macroscopically invasive type, nodal involvement, lymphatic invasion, vessel invasion, and peritoneal dissemination. Patients with MT-MMP-positive tumor had a significantly worse prognosis than those with MT-MMP-negative tumor (p<0.001). Multivariate analysis showed MT-MMP overexpression as an independent prognostic factor in gastric cancer patients. Immunohistochemical analysis for MT-MMP may be an indicator of metastatic potential or the prognosis of gastric cancer patients.  相似文献

Water-insoluble powder is often dispersed in shells of commercial soft capsules for various reasons, but little reports have been published about the effect of powder addition on the physical properties of the gelatin gel. Glass powder, titanium oxide, calcium carbonate and γ-orizanol were used as model of powder. Changes of Young modulus obtained from the tensile test showed that any powder addition to the gelatin sheet made the gelatin sheet hard not by the surface effect of powder but by the volumetric effect of it. In this test, any powders had no effect on the tensile strength of the gelatin sheet because there was little interaction between each powder and the gelatin gel in the break point. The limiting strain was decreased a little up to the specific amount of each powder and then beyond the specific amount that decreased steeply in the case of glass powder and γ-orizanol. There might be a suitable range of the amount of powder for the gelatin sheet to keep the plastic flow similar to the gelatin sheet containing no powder. In this work, it was shown that the physical properties of the gelatin shell would be regulated by powder addition to the gelatin sheet.  相似文献

In the course of chemical compositional studies on seed oils from more than 2600 species of uncultivated plants, a number of new acids were isolated and structurally characterized at our laboratory. Also included in the studies were many fatty acids previously identified but not widely distributed or readily available. Oils containing unusual functional groups often gave unexpected responses to analytical procedures in frequent use. To exemplify the analytical results, data are presented relative to behavior of oils containing oxygenated fatty acids, cyclopropene rings, unusual types and positions of unsaturation, differing chain length, and sundry combinations of these, in the following procedures: Determinatio of polyunsaturated acids by ultraviolet spectrophotometry; iodine value versus refractive index plot to single out unusual oils; oxirane oxygen by HBr titration; gas-liquid chromatography; infrared, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy; and lipoxidase assay. Preliminary experimentation on an automatic analytical hydrogenation apparatus indicates good potential, in its aplication to both usual and unusual oils, for a rapid determination of total unsaturation with acceptable accuracy and precision. Serial changes in platelet and white blood cell (WBC) counts and other blood parameters were analyzed in 103 patients with aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). The WBC counts during days 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, and 12-14 after the onset of SAH were significantly higher in patients with than in patients without symptomatic vasospasm. Platelet counts during days 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-17, 18-21, and 22-28 after SAH were significantly higher in patients with than in patients without symptomatic vasospasm. Monitoring of platelet and WBC counts may provide an indicator of the occurrence of symptomatic vasospasm.  相似文献

Brassidic acid was prepared by elaidinization of 95% erucic acid with 4 mole % nitrous acid at 70 C for 30 min, followed by crystallization from 95% ethanol. Yield was 70%, and purity was 96–97% by gas liquid chromatography and thin layer chromatography. The isomerization reaction was monitored by IRtrans absorption for optimal reaction rate and yield. There was no migration of the double bond. The NMR spectrum of thetrans protons was wide and complex with a chemical shift of 5.34 δ. The nitrous acid elaidinization, generally explained as a free radical process, is believed to be induced initially by the nitrogen dioxide anion (nitrite) and followed immediately by complex formation between the excited triplet anion and the olefin. This paper reports a study on the possibility of an aerial flashover between a coil conductor and a casing in rotating machines under the application of a lower voltage than Paschen's voltage, even when enough insulation distance is secured. The time lag to aerial flashover originating from surface flashover was measured. To understand the aerial flashover influenced by the parameters of the voltage application circuit, the aerial flashover distance was measured using a cable which had a simulated pore to confirm the above issue. The surface flashover characteristic was also measured using a photomultiplier tube (PMT). It became clear that aerial flashover occurred a few milliseconds after surface flashover generation. After showing the peak, the aerial flashover distance decreased with increasing time constant. The surface flashover time estimated by the PMT output exhibited different values with change of capacitance when the time constant is larger. On the other hand, the average surface flashover current was almost the same in spite of the change of capacitance. From these results, it was concluded that the aerial flashover distance was influenced by the time constant of the circuit. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
