dynamically reconfigure the radio access technologies and the spectrum they use, based on experience, in order to adapt to
the changing environment conditions. However, dynamic reconfiguration decisions call for robust discovery, i.e., radio-scene
analysis and channel identification schemes. This paper intends to contribute in the areas of radio-scene analysis and channel
identification: first, by providing an overview of interference estimation methods, and explaining how capacity estimations
can be derived based on the measured interference levels; second, by specifying the information flow for the radio-scene analysis
process of a cognitive radio system; and third, by enhancing the above with a learning system, which is essential for obtaining
a truly cognitive process. The proposed approach lies in the introduction of a robust probabilistic model for optimal prediction

A theoretical model has been developed for simulating the laser grooving process. It takes into account the interaction among subsequent pulses, the required time for the melting temperature to be reached and the subsequent removal of a finite volume of material during each laser pulse. The model predicts the maximum groove depth that can be achieved for a specified set of process parameters, such as laser power, pulsing frequency, and scanning velocity. A mathematical model of the electro-reduction furnace process (ERF process), for the production of ferronickel from laterite ores, has been tested at Larco's metallurgical plant at Larymna Greece. The theoretical predictions for the progress of the nickel reduction have been compared with the operational results. The tests were carried out in the ERF no. 2 of Larco's plant. The influence of the main process variables on the nickel recovery and nickel losses in the ERF slags have been investigated in conjunction with the variation of the analysis of the feed and the nickel content of the metal bath. The further application of the model to the metallurgical practice is discussed. According to the predictions of the model the further development of the process in the direction of the production of low-nickel ferronickel (Ni < 15%) is analyzed. The advantages of the production of low-nickel ferronickel are presented and the possibility of its straight conversion to nickel-bearing steel-grades is discussed. 相似文献

communications. The algorithmic exploration is based on matrix computations and factorizations. A scalable computational methodology
and architecture is proposed for the implementation of a 4×4 MIMO OFDM. A 2×3 Equalizer supporting Maximum Ratio Combining
and Zero Forcing equalization for 20/40 MHz 64-QAM OFDM modulation has been implemented in 150 nm technology. The Equalizer
area is 133k gates and the maximum throughput achieved is 480Mbits/s. The system described in this paper is compliant with

The most important constraint toward the successful implementation of the energy efficiency investments in Greece remains the absence of appropriate and competitive financial schemes. Energy efficiency improvements seems to be one of the areas that JESSICA instrument should focus on in the case of Greece, considering that energy efficiency constitutes a major component of sustainable urban development. The scope of this paper is to present, in an updating way, an analysis of energy efficiency investments’ environment in Greece as well as to examine the potential role of the JESSICA instruments, aiming to the supporting of the real implementation of energy efficiency investments in Greece. Local community detection is a widely used method for identifying groups of nodes starting from seeding nodes. The seed(s) are usually selected either randomly or based only on structural properties of the network. However, in many cases the choice of seed(s) incorporates external knowledge that attaches to these nodes an additional importance for their community. This knowledge, may be derived from an expert on the domain, or may arise from the network’s side information and it constitutes our motivation for the present work; this additional information about the importance of seed(s) can be exploited for detection of better and more relevant communities. We call such biased seed(s), hint(s). Our approach, is to reflect the importance of hints by changing appropriately the network in their vicinity. To the best of our knowledge, no such viewpoint of the seeding nodes in local community detection has been considered before. The aim of this study is to identify a single community which contains the hint(s). Our key contribution is the proposed Hint Enhancement Framework(HEF) that applies a two-step procedure to discover the community of the hint(s): 1) it changes the network by amplifying the hint(s) using re-weighting or re-wiring strategies so as to materialize the bias towards them and 2) it applies local community detection algorithms on the altered network of step 1. We experimentally evaluate HEF in synthetic and real datasets, and demonstrate the positive aspects of the framework in identifying better communities, in comparison with plain local community detection algorithms as well as a global one.
His paper presents a tool facilitating developers of user interfaces (UIs) to experience accessibility limitations that can be posed from various disabilities during the interaction of impaired users with their developments. In this respect, various aspects of visual, hearing, physical and cognitive impairments have been modelled through filters providing approximate, yet, realistic simulations over them. These filters have formed the basis for the developed tool, which can be used either on its own (as a standalone application), or be embedded in the NetBeans Integrated Development Environment. The tool, named DIAS, allows for impairment simulations to be performed over Java, mobile and web applications. Moreover, it integrates two of the most common assistive technologies (ATs), namely a screen reader and a magnifier. As a result, developers of UIs can not only experience how interaction would be affected from various impairments, but they can also understand how their developments would be perceived by impaired users through an AT. This work aims to provide an integrated, practical solution for impairment simulation, which could be easily adopted by developers, thus realistically increasing the possibilities for the future development of interactive applications that are more accessible to users with disabilities. 相似文献
Microbial-, and chemical-based burden of disease associated with lack of access to safe water continues to primarily impact developing countries. Cost-effective health risk-mitigating measures, such as of solar disinfection applied to microbial-contaminated water stored in plastic bottles have been increasingly tested in developing countries adversely impacted by epidemic water-borne diseases. Public health concerns associated with chemical leaching from water packaging materials led us to investigate the magnitude and variability of antimony (Sb) and bromine (Br) leaching from reused plastic containers (polyethylene terephthalate, PET; and polycarbonate, PC) subject to UV and/or temperature-driven disinfection. The overall objective of this study was to determine the main and interactive effects of temperature, UV exposure duration, and frequency of bottle reuse on the extent of leaching of Sb and Br from plastic bottles into water. Regardless of UV exposure duration, frequency of reuse (up to 27 times) was the major factor that linearly increased Sb leaching from PET bottles at all temperatures tested (13-47 °C). Leached Sb concentrations (∼360 ng L−1) from the highly reused (27 times) PET bottles (minimal Sb leaching from PC bottles, <15 ng L−1) did not pose a serious risk to human health according to current daily Sb acceptable intake estimates. Leached Br concentrations from both PET and PC containers (up to ∼15 μg L−1) did not pose a consumer health risk either, however, no acceptable daily dose estimates exist for oral ingestion of organo-brominated, or other plasticizers/additives compounds if they were to be found in bottled water at much lower concentrations. Additional research on potential leaching of organic chemicals from water packaging materials is deemed necessary under relevant environmental conditions. 相似文献
Moving between devices is omnipresent, but not for people with disabilities or those who require specific accessibility options. Setting up assistive technologies or finding settings to overcome a certain barrier can be a demanding task for people without technical skills. Context-sensitive adaptive user interfaces are advancing, although migrating access features from one device to another is very rarely addressed. In this paper, we describe the knowledge-based component of the Global Public Inclusive Infrastructure that infers how a device shall be best configured at the operating system layer, the application layer and the web layer to meet the requirements of a user including possible special needs or disabilities. In this regard, a mechanism to detect and resolve conflicting accessibility policies as well as recommending preference substitutes is a main requirement, as elaborated in this paper. As the proposed system emulates decision-making of accessibility experts, we validated the automatic deduced configurations against manual configurations of ten accessibility experts. The assessment result shows that the average matching score of the developed system is high. Thus, the proposed system can be considered capable of making precise decisions towards personalizing user interfaces based on user needs and preferences. 相似文献
