The ferroelectric liquid crystals, because of their fast electro‐optical response, are one of the most important classes of liquid crystals. Here, in this review, we have summarized the different electro‐optical modes for ferroelectric liquid crystals. Clark–Lagerwall effect (surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystal), deformed helix ferroelectric (DHF) effect, electrically suppressed helix (ESH) mode, DHF orientational Kerr effect, and ESH diffraction modes have been discussed. All of the crucial features, that is, optics, electro‐optics, dynamics, and their dependence on material parameters, operational regime, and applications, have been reviewed.  相似文献

Program verification is the task of automatically generating proofs for a program’s compliance with a given specification. Program synthesis is the task of automatically generating a program that meets a given specification. Both program verification and program synthesis can be viewed as search problems, for proofs and programs, respectively. For these search problems, we present approaches based on user-provided insights in the form of templates. Templates are hints about the syntactic forms of the invariants and programs, and help guide the search for solutions. We show how to reduce the template-based search problem to satisfiability solving, which permits the use of off-the-shelf solvers to efficiently explore the search space. Template-based approaches have allowed us to verify and synthesize programs outside the abilities of previous verifiers and synthesizers. Our approach can verify and synthesize difficult algorithmic textbook programs (e.g., sorting and dynamic programming-based algorithms) and difficult arithmetic programs.  相似文献

This paper proposed a Neuro-Genetic technique to optimize the multi-response of wire electro-discharge machining (WEDM) process. The technique was developed through hybridization of a radial basis function network (RBFN) and non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II). The machining was done on 5 vol% titanium carbide (TiC) reinforced austenitic manganese steel metal matrix composite (MMC). The proposed Neuro-Genetic technique was found to be potential in finding several optimal input machining conditions which can satisfy wide requirements of a process engineer and help in efficient utilization of WEDM in industry.  相似文献

In the present work, reflectance properties of one-dimensional photonic crystal (1D PC) containing a metamaterial and high-temperature superconductor have been investigated theoretically and analyzed. The reflectance/transmittance spectrum of the proposed structure is obtained by using the characteristic or transfer-matrix method (TMM). The results show that by increasing the thickness of the metamaterial layer, the width of the second reflection band decreases while the width of the first reflection band remains almost the same though it shifts towards the higher frequency side. In addition to this, a new band gap arises in the lower side of frequency. But, when the thickness of the superconductor layer is increased, the width of both the bands increases and no additional band arises in this case. Moreover, the reflection band is also affected by varying the operating temperature of the superconducting layer and the results show that bands get narrower by increasing the operating temperature. Finally, the effect of incident angle on the reflection band has been discussed for both transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) polarizations.  相似文献

Ionic self‐assembly of charged molecular building blocks relies on the interplay between long‐range electrostatic forces and short‐range, often cooperative, supramolecular interactions, yet has been seldom studied in two dimensions at the solid–liquid interface. Here, we demonstrate anion‐driven switching of two‐dimensional (2D) crystal structure at the Au(111)/octanoic acid interface. Using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), three organic salts with identical polyaromatic cation (PQPC6+) but different anions (perchlorate, anthraquinonedisulfonate, benzenesulfonate) are shown to form distinct, highly ordered self‐assembled structures. Reversible switching of the supramolecular arrangement is demonstrated by in situ exchange of the anion on the pre‐formed adlayer, by changing the concentration ratio between the incoming and outgoing anion. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations reveal that perchlorate is highly mobile in the adlayer, and corroborate why this anion is only resolved transiently in STM. Surprisingly, the templating effect of the anion persists even where it does not become part of the adlayer 2D fabric, which we ascribe to differences in stabilization of cation conformations by the anion. Our results provide important insight into the structuring of mixed anion–cation adlayers. This is essential in the design of tectons for ionic self‐assembled superstructures and biomimetic adaptive materials and valuable also to understand adsorbate–adsorbate interactions in heterogeneous catalysis.  相似文献

Cotton fibres coated with biogenically fabricated silver nanoparticles (SNPs) are most sought material because of their enhanced activity and biocompatibility. After successful synthesis of SNPs on cotton fibres using leaf extract of Vitex negundo Linn, the fibres were studied using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, nanoparticle tracking analysis, energy dispersive X‐ray, and inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The characterisation revealed uniformly distributed spherical agglomerates of SNPs having individual particle size around 50 nm with the deposition load of 423 μg of silver per gram of cotton. Antimicrobial assay of cotton–SNPs fibres showed effective performance against pathogenic bacteria and fungi.
