This article addresses two methodological questions that are crucial for research on the natural language in the counseling process: (a) What fraction, or segment, of an interview best represents the entire interview? (b) Do different starting points yield different results? Using a variety of data sets and process measures, we tested segment generalizability in different formats of counseling (individual and family) and with different coding systems (of client and counselor behavior). Results from three studies suggested that, whereas starting points made little difference, generalizing from any size segment to a whole session should not be done when interviews are examined individually. On the other hand, when interviews are aggregated, even fairly small segments can be sampled reliably. In making their own sampling decisions, investigators should consider theoretical and clinical significance and conduct subsample generalizability tests. In examining the process of change in structural family therapy, interpersonal control patterns were observed within and across 15 sessions of inpatient treatment of a chronic anorexic family. Results showed that the primary therapist maintained a consistently active, dominant, and central position in the therapeutic system. As predicted, complementarity (Therapist one-up/Family Member one-down) was the predominant relational control pattern; with the anorexic daughter, complementarity was observed more frequently in the early and late phases of treatment than in the middle, restructuring phase. Although several hypotheses could not be adequately tested because of an unexpected low frequency of within-family interaction, there was some evidence that the therapist challenged family behaviors indicative of enmeshment and intergenerational coalitions and that changes in the family's rigid communication style may have occurred over time. Learning Objects offer flexibility and adaptability for users to request personalised information for learning. There are standards to guide the development of learning objects. However, individual developers may customise these standards for serving different purposes when defining, describing, managing and providing learning objects, which are normally stored in heterogeneous repositories. Barriers to interoperability hinder sharing of learning services and subsequently affect quality of instructional design as learners expect to be able to receive their personalised learning content. All these impose difficulties to the users in getting the right information from the right sources. This paper investigates the interoperability issues in elearning services management and provision and presents an approach to resolve interoperability at three levels.  相似文献

Effects of LO-phonon contribution on the electronic and the optical properties are investigated in a Cd0.8Zn0.2Se/ZnSe quantum dot in the presence of magnetic field strength. The magneto-polaron induced hydrogenic binding energy as a function of dot radius in the wide band gap quantum dot is calculated. The oscillator strength and the spontaneous lifetime are studied taking into account the spatial confinement, magnetic field strength and the phonon contribution. Numerical calculations are carried out using variational formulism within the single band effective mass approximation. The optical properties are computed with the compact density matrix method. The magneto-polaron induced optical gain as a function of photon energy is observed. The results show that the optical telecommunication wavelength in the fiber optic communications can be achieved using CdSe/ZnSe semiconductors and it can be tuned with the proper applications of external perturbations.  相似文献

Evidence for a short-range sex pheromone in female Maladera matrida beetle   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Laboratory studies with live and frozen Maladera matrida female and male beetles showed that males were attracted to chemical substances emanating from the females at dusk. Beetles exhibited sexual activity (including mating) at dusk towards frozen females but not towards frozen males. Frozen females that had been extracted with methanol together with either hexane or dichloromethane or with a mixture of all three solvents did not elicit male sexual activity. Activity was fully restored when a concentrate of the extract was applied to the previously extracted frozen females. Males also responded with vigorous sexual activity to frozen males to which female extract had been applied. Deterrent chemicals appear to be absent from the male body. Males exposed to females that had been frozen during the morning displayed weak sexual activity, indicating that females lack active semiochemicals. Differences between dusk and morning extracts were found with respect to more than 20 compounds, some of which were present in much higher concentrations at dusk than in the morning, while others were not detected in the morning extract. The active component(s) of the short-range sex pheromone of female M. matrida is (are) presumably to be found among these compounds.  相似文献

This paper presents two new approaches used in the secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) for high sensitivity dopant and impurity analysis in HgCdTe materials, namely, the high mass resolution with dynamic transfer and the MCs+ technique. It is shown that better detection limits for As and Cu can be obtained at a level of 2–5e14 at/cm3. The MCs+ technique has added advantages of better measurement precision, monitoring Cd composition in the same profile, and small device area analysis capability. Advantages and trade-offs of each technique are discussed and compared. An updated detection limit table for all elements measured in HgCdTe materials using SIMS is also presented.  相似文献

Wind Gate     
Temporality came into play at a number of levels in this project. Programmatically a temporary, festival construction, the project worked with the reflective possibilities given in such structures. Contingent upon environmental and viewing conditions for its phenomenal character, the project also opened up critical issues about temporality as a "site" of perception and conception, and about the changes that take place in the latter as architectural works assume their place in the quotidian.  相似文献

Boundary Studies     
The design exercises presented here were developed to open critical and creative perception of occupied and populated spatiality. The studio worked with two tactics: a focal theme that asked students to consider boundary conditions in temporal, situational, and social terms; and the use of full-scale installations as speculative devices. As experiments to raise questions about what constitutes form, site, and program, the exercises also aimed at initiating inquiry into architecture's effects, limits, and accountability.  相似文献

The developing views of the purposes of school learning (PSLs) and related achievement among immigrant Chinese preschoolers and their European American (EA) age-mates were examined. Both culture and socioeconomic status (SES) were considered simultaneously, an often neglected research approach to studying Asian children. One hundred and fifty 4-year-olds—50 each of middle-class Chinese (CHM), low-income Chinese (CHL), and EA children—completed 2 story beginnings about school and were also tested for their language and math achievement. Results showed that 4-year-olds held sophisticated PSLs, ranging from intellectual to social and affect benefits. Large cultural and SES differences also emerged. CHM children mentioned more adult expectation and seriousness of learning than EA children who expressed more positive affect for self and compliance with adults. CHL children mentioned fewest PSLs. Achievement scores for oral expression of both immigrant groups were significantly lower than those of EA children despite similar reading and math achievement. Controlling for culture and SES, the authors found that children's articulated intellectual, but not other purposes, uniquely predicted their achievement in all tested domains.
