We review progress on the spintronics proposal for quantum computing where the quantum bits (qubits) are implemented with electron spins. We calculate the exchange interaction of coupled quantum dots and present experiments, where the exchange coupling is measured via transport. Then, experiments on single spins on dots are described, where long spin relaxation times, on the order of a millisecond, are observed. We consider spin-orbit interaction as sources of spin decoherence and find theoretically that also long decoherence times are expected. Further, we describe the concept of spin filtering using quantum dots and show data of successful experiments. We also show an implementation of a read out scheme for spin qubits and define how qubits can be measured with high precision. Then, we propose new experiments, where the spin decoherence time and the Rabi oscillations of single electrons can be measured via charge transport through quantum dots. Finally, all these achievements have promising applications both in conventional and quantum information processing.

Flow-dependent corrosion phenomena can be studied in the laboratory and on a pilot plant scale by a number of methods, of which the rotating disc, the rotating cylinder, the coaxial cylinder and the tubular flow test are the most important. These methods are discussed with regard to mass transfer characteristics and their applicability to flow-dependent corrosion processes and erosion corrosion. The aim of this study was to measure size and quality of the research carried out in Copenhagen (H:S) hospitals using conventional bibliometry. Based on the H:S-report on scientific publications in 1995, the research performed in each hospital and each department has been measured as the sum of publications and as journal impact factor score. Publication numbers and impact factor score varied eighty-fold between the individual H:S-hospitals. With a close relation between publication numbers and impact factor score, the Rigshospital produced 60%, Hvidovre Hospital 20% and Bispebjerg Hospital 11%, while the four remaining hospitals (Frederiksberg Hospital, the Copenhagen Community Hospital, Sct. Hans Hospital and Sundby Hospital) together produced 9% of the research. The departmental research activities as such showed correlation neither to clinical specialty nor to specific hospitals. In conclusion, the Rigshospital is responsible for most of the research in H:S. Generally, departments headed by university professors showed the highest research activity. 相似文献
