The potential changes of single-use plastic materials (EVA/EVOH/EVA multilayer film in this study) used in biopharmaceutical and food-packaging industries are investigated after several gamma irradiation doses: 30, 50, 115, and 270 kGy, and for nonsterilized samples (0 kGy) from a point of view of mechanical properties, thermal properties and permeability properties. Tensile tests, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), oxygen transmission rate (OTR) and water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) are performed on the multilayer film. For irradiation doses below 50 kGy, thermal and water vapor barrier properties are not altered. For higher doses (50 to 270 kGy), mechanical, thermal and water vapor barrier properties are slightly altered whereas oxygen barrier property decreases from 13 to 27 cm3.m−2.day−1. This slight change is shown not to happen due to chain entanglement or chain mobility loss in the amorphous phase of the different polymers. It rather comes from a change of the chemical environment of the EVOH layer.  相似文献

Arterial smooth muscle exhibits rhythmic oscillatory contractions called vasomotion and believed to be a protective mechanism against tissue hypoperfusion or hypoxia. Oscillations of vascular tone depend on voltage and follow oscillations of the membrane potential. Voltage-gated sodium channels (Nav), responsible for the initiation and propagation of action potentials in excitable cells, have also been evidenced both in animal and human vascular smooth muscle cells (SMCs). For example, they contribute to arterial contraction in rats, but their physiopathological relevance has not been established in human vessels. In the present study, we investigated the functional role of Nav in the human artery. Experiments were performed on human uterine arteries obtained after hysterectomy and on SMCs dissociated from these arteries. In SMCs, we recorded a tetrodotoxin (TTX)-sensitive and fast inactivating voltage-dependent INa current. Various Nav genes, encoding α-subunit isoforms sensitive (Nav 1.2; 1.3; 1.7) and resistant (Nav 1.5) to TTX, were detected both in arterial tissue and in SMCs. Nav channels immunostaining showed uniform distribution in SMCs and endothelial cells. On arterial tissue, we recorded variations of isometric tension, ex vivo, in response to various agonists and antagonists. In arterial rings placed under hypoxic conditions, the depolarizing agent KCl and veratridine, a specific Nav channels agonist, both induced a sustained contraction overlaid with rhythmic oscillations of tension. After suppression of sympathetic control either by blocking the release of catecholamine or by antagonizing the target adrenergic response, rhythmic activity persisted while the sustained contraction was abolished. This rhythmic activity of the arteries was suppressed by TTX but, in contrast, only attenuated by antagonists of calcium channels, Na+/Ca2+ exchanger, Na+/K+-ATPase and the cardiac Nav channel. These results highlight the role of Nav as a novel key element in the vasomotion of human arteries. Hypoxia promotes activation of Nav channels involved in the initiation of rhythmic oscillatory contractile activity.  相似文献

The current work presents a pivotal study of the nanogelation of the linear poly(N5-2-hydroxypropyl-L-glutamine) polymer precursor containing tyramine (TYR) units in an inverse miniemulsion by horseradish peroxidase/H2O2-mediated crosslinking. The effects of various nH2O2/nTYR ratios on the kinetics of nanogelation in the inverse miniemulsion and on the reaction time are investigated by linear sweep voltammetry, while the formation of dityramine crosslinking is explored by fluorescence spectroscopy. The study is completed using dynamic light scattering measurements, nanoparticle tracking analysis, and cryogenic transmission electron microscopy to acquire comprehensive information about the formed nanoparticulate systems. With the optimal ratio nH2O2/nTYR = 2, the strategy yields in the high-quality ~ 130 nm poly(amino acid)-based nanogel, which is prepared in 2 h. The nanogel is colloidally stable under different temperature and pH conditions for over 168 h. Moreover, the demonstrated nanogel is noncytotoxic for HeLa cells and human primary fibroblasts and is quickly enzymatically hydrolyzed into small fragments during a biodegradation study in human blood plasma. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The low temperature sintering of silica is studied under the influence of sintering aids and nanosized powders using X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD) and high-temperature environmental scanning electron microscopy analyses (HT-ESEM). Two particular aids were chosen to conduct this study, [Bi2O3–ZnO]eutectic and titania. We report a lowering of the crystallization temperature when the former compound is introduced in the silica while a raise is observed when the latter is used. Moreover, the amorphous silica crystallization into cristobalite inhibits drastically the kinetics of densification of silica-based materials.  相似文献

Polyurethane (PUR) films were obtained by casting waterborne formulation of polyhydroxylated polyacrylate resin and hexamethylene 1,6-diisocyanate trimer hardener. Conversion of the polyaddition reaction was followed by FTIR spectroscopy and appears independent of the NCO/OH stoichiometric ratio between HDI trimer NCO groups and polyhydroxylated polyacrylate OH groups (resin), but thermally activated. The crosslinked networks were investigated by swelling experiments and dynamic mechanical analysis. Calculated values of the average mass between crosslinks allowed explaining the evolutions of the conservation modulus and loss factor with NCO/OH stoichiometric ratio. Elastic recovery and creep behavior of the PUR films were investigated by micro-indentation. A four-element viscoelastic model was used to fit the indentation depth evolution during micro-indentation creep experiments. Results show that creep instantaneous elasticity is fully controlled by the network elasticity and thus by the NCO/OH stoichiometric ratio and that the ability of the network to dissipate energy remains high for non-continuous (NCO/OH ratio < 1) networks. On the other hand, for high NCO/OH ratios, it was shown that hard PUR networks exhibit creep properties and significant retardation times. Finally the evolution of indentation springback factor vs. indentation creep factor was determined, showing that instantaneous elastic recovery behavior increases as creep behavior decreases.  相似文献

A genetic assay permits simultaneous quantification of two interacting proteins and their bound fraction at the single-cell level using flow cytometry. Apparent in-cellula affinities of protein-protein interactions can be extracted from the acquired data through a titration-like analysis. The applicability of this approach is demonstrated on a diverse set of interactions with proteins from different families and organisms and with in-vitro dissociation constants ranging from picomolar to micromolar.  相似文献

Zein is renewable plant protein with valuable film-forming properties that can be used as a packaging material. It is known that the addition of natural cross-linkers can enhance a film’s tensile properties. In this study, we aimed to prepare antimicrobial zein-based films enriched with monolaurin, eugenol, oregano, and thyme essential oil. Films were prepared using the solvent casting technique from ethanol solution. Their physicochemical properties were investigated using structural, morphological, and thermal techniques. Polar and dispersive components were analyzed using two models to evaluate the effects on the surface free energy values. The antimicrobial activity was proven using a disk diffusion method and the suppression of bacterial growth was confirmed via a growth kinetics study with the Gompertz function. The films’ morphological characteristics led to systems with uniform distribution of essential oils or eugenol droplets combined with a flat-plated structure of monolaurin. A unique combination of polyphenolic eugenol and amphiphilic monoglyceride provided highly stretchable films with enhanced barrier properties and efficiency against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, yeasts, and molds. The prepared zein-based films with tunable surface properties represent an alternative to non-renewable resources with a potential application as active packaging materials.  相似文献
