Here we quantitatively evaluated the mixing performance of a tailor-made microreactor with central-collision type through the iodide/iodate chemical test reaction, and applied the microreactor to the synthesis of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8), which is a subclass of porous coordination polymers (PCPs) or metal organic frameworks (MOFs). The chemical test reaction demonstrated excellent mixing performance of the microreactor with a characteristic mixing time shorter than 1 ms, which is approximately 100 times faster than those of a batch reactor and a millimeter-sized Y-shaped mixer. Taking advantage of the rapid and uniform mixing, the microreactor successfully produced ZIF-8 particles with high reproducibility by simply mixing aqueous solutions of zinc nitrate and 2-methylimidazole. The synthesis at room temperature resulted in ZIF-8 particles with chamfered cube shape, while a lower temperature of 5 °C produced raspberry-type spherical particles. We confirmed that prepared ZIF-8 particles have BET surface area of ~1500 m2/g and exhibit the gate adsorption behavior caused by the structural transition of the ZIF-8 framework. 相似文献

A simple process to clad conventional monofilament fibers with low‐molecular‐weight liquid crystals (LCs) stabilized by an outer polymer sheath is demonstrated. The fibers retain the responsive properties of the LCs but in a highly flexible/drapable format. The monofilament core makes these fibers much more rugged with a magnified response to external stimuli when compared to previously reported LC‐core fibers produced by electrospinning or airbrushing. The microscopic structure and the optical properties of round and flattened fibers are reported. The sensitivity of the response of individual fibers can be tuned over a broad range by varying the composition of the LCs. Complex fabrics can be easily woven from fibers that respond to different external stimuli, such as temperature variation, chemical concentrations, and pressure. The fabrics can be fashioned into garments that can sense and report the state of health of the wearer or the status of their environment. 相似文献

The leaching behavior of heat-treated waste ash was studied to verify the possibility of the thermal treatment of waste incineration ash in existing incinerators and boiler combustion chambers. The influence of temperature, oxygen concentration and treatment time on the leaching behaviors of harmful heavy metals, especially lead (Pb) and chromium(VI) (Cr (VI)) were studied to clarify effective treatment conditions to suppress leaching. By examining the leaching behavior of Pb and Cr from ash heat-treated under various conditions, it was found that leaching can be suppressed by heat-treating the ash under conventional combustion conditions of around 900-1000 °C at 5-10% oxygen concentration. The leaching behaviors of Pb and Cr (VI) from real ash with different particle sizes and from model samples were also investigated in detail to find an effective method to suppress Pb leaching. It was found that the formation and growth of gehlenite (SiO2·2CaO·Al2O3) in the ashes led to the decrease in the amount of Pb leaching. Therefore it was considered that the addition of an inorganic matrix with a high silica content that can promote gehlenite growth in the ash, for example, coal ash or waste glass is effective to suppress of Pb leaching. 相似文献

The prognosis of multiple myeloma (MM) has drastically improved owing to the development of new drugs, such as proteasome inhibitors and immunomodulatory drugs. Nevertheless, MM is an extremely challenging disease, and many patients are still refractory to the existing therapies, thus requiring new treatment alternatives. Venetoclax is a selective, orally bioavailable inhibitor of BCL-2 that shows efficacy in MM not only as a single agent but also in combination therapy, especially for MM patients with translocation t(11;14). However, many patients are refractory to this drug. Here, we treated the MM cell lines KMS12PE and KMS27 with a combination treatment of venetoclax targeting BCL-2 and daratumumab targeting CD38 to evaluate the synergistic cytotoxicity of these drugs in vitro. MM cell lines were co-cultured with natural killer (NK) cells at an effector:target ratio of 0.3:1 in the presence of serial concentrations of daratumumab and venetoclax, and the resulting apoptotic MM cells were detected by flow cytometry using annexin V. These results indicated that the antibody-dependent cell-mediated NK cytotoxicity was enhanced in KMS12PE and KMS27 cells harboring t(11;14) with a high BCL-2 expression, suggesting that the combination treatment of venetoclax and daratumumab should be especially effective in patients with these characteristics. 相似文献

A copolymer with α-D-mannose (Man) and trimethoxysilane (TMS) units was synthesized for immobilization on siliceous matrices such as a sensor cell and membrane. Immobilization of the trimethoxysilane-containing copolymer on the matrices was readily performed by incubation at high heat. The recognition of lectin by poly(Man-r-TMS) was evaluated by measurement with a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and adsorption on an affinity membrane, QCM results showed that the mannose-binding protein, concanavalin A, was specifically bound on a poly(Man-r-TMS)-immobilized cell with a higher binding constant than bovine serum albumin. The amount of concanavalin A adsorbed during permeation through a poly(Man-r-TMS)-immobilized membrane was higher than that through an unmodified membrane. Moreover, the concanavalin A adsorbed onto the poly(Man-r-TMS)-immobilized membrane was recoverable by permeation of a mannose derivative at high concentration. 相似文献

As health impact assessments (HIAs) become increasingly common in the USA, there is growing demand for instruction beyond short courses and online training. As of October 2013, there are graduate level courses that include instruction on HIA in at least 17 universities in the USA, including four courses that focus explicitly on HIA. Instructors of these four courses collaborated to develop a model curriculum for teaching HIA that draws on a framework for experiential learning and on a theoretical model of curriculum formulation. This article includes an in-depth analysis of these courses and presents a model curriculum for HIA instruction during an academic quarter or semester course in a university. This model curriculum may help faculty develop a graduate level HIA course at their institution, as well as inform public health and community design professionals interested in building capacity to conduct HIAs, and students considering taking an HIA course. International instructors could also learn from the US experience, and apply the model curriculum to their setting and educational structure. 相似文献

Mercury (Hg) in wet deposition in the United States is measured as part of the National Atmospheric Deposition Program--Hg Deposition Network (MDN). This study focused on compiling and assessing data collected since 2003 at two sites in Nevada, and at one in Nevada and three in Idaho where data were collected over shorter time intervals. At all locations the highest volume weighted concentrations and deposition were observed in the summer, a time of low precipitation, but high gaseous oxidized Hg (GOM) concentrations. Detailed assessment of high Hg wet deposition events showed variability across the region and higher deposition at the higher elevation sites. Potential Source Contribution Function analyses showed no specific point sources associated with the high Hg wet deposition events, but air masses derived predominantly from the southwest. Although this region has potential local and regional sources of GOM, detailed back trajectory analyses, the environmental setting of Nevada, results from other studies in Nevada, and GEOS-Chem modeling results point toward a free troposphere contribution to mercury in wet deposition input to this area of the western United States. 相似文献

Juice and integument of leaves of 3 Aloe species, Aloe vera, A. ferox and A. africana, are not allowed to be used as food according to the Pharmaceutical Affairs Law in Japan. On the other hand, whole leaves of A. arborescens can be used as food. The present study was designed to distinguish Aloe species by random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis. DNA was isolated from fresh and dried leaves of the 4 Aloe species. Five out of 32 different 10-mer primers examined were useful for analysis. By comparison of the characteristic bands of PCR products on agarose gel, it was possible to distinguish the 4 species. Pen shell (Atrina pectinata) is a popular food source with a high commercial value in a number of Asian Pacific areas. The natural A. pectinata population has been declining continuously over the past several decades. Microsatellite DNA markers are a useful DNA-based tool for monitoring the genetic variation of pen shell populations. In this study, 20 polymorphic microsatellite (MS) DNA markers were identified from a partial genomic pen shell DNA library enriched in CA repeats, and used to compare allelic variation between wild and hatchery pen shell populations in Korea. A total of 438 alleles were detected at the 20 MS loci in the two populations. All loci were easily amplified and demonstrated allelic variability, with the number of alleles ranging from 5 to 35 in the wild population and from 5 to 22 in the farmed population. The average observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.69 and 0.82, respectively, in the hatchery samples and 0.69 and 0.83, respectively, in the wild samples. Statistical analysis of fixation index (F(ST)) and analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) showed minor, but significant, genetic differences between the wild and hatchery populations (F(ST) = 0.0106, CI(95%) = 0.003-0.017). These microsatellite loci may be valuable for future aquaculture and population genetic studies for developing conservation and management plans. Further studies with additional pen shell samples are needed to conclusively determine the genetic diversity between the wild and hatchery populations. 相似文献
