A frequency‐weighted parameter extraction method based on the performance evaluation criterion weighted error spectral power ratio is proposed. Performance of models extracted using the normalized mean square error are compared to the performances of models extracted using the WESPR. A metamodel considering material plasticity is presented for computationally efficient prediction of wheel–rail normal contact in railway switches and crossings (S&C). The metamodel is inspired by the contact theory of Hertz, and for a given material, it computes the size of the contact patch and the maximum contact pressure as a function of the normal force and the local curvatures of the bodies in contact. The model is calibrated based on finite element (FE) simulations with an elasto-plastic material model and is demonstrated for rail steel grade R350HT. The error of simplifying the contact geometry is discussed and quantified. For a moderate difference in contact curvature between wheel and rail, the metamodel is able to accurately predict the size of the contact patch and the maximum contact pressure. The accuracy is worse when there is a small difference in contact curvature, where the influence of variation in curvature within the contact patch becomes more significant. However, it is shown that such conditions lead to contact stresses that contribute less to accumulated plastic deformation. The metamodel allows for a vast reduction of computational effort compared to the original FE model as it is given in analytical form.

In this paper, we present a novel physically consistent implicit solver for the simulation of highly viscous fluids using the Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) formalism. Our method is the result of a theoretical and practical in‐depth analysis of the most recent implicit SPH solvers for viscous materials. Based on our findings, we developed a list of requirements that are vital to produce a realistic motion of a viscous fluid. These essential requirements include momentum conservation, a physically meaningful behavior under temporal and spatial refinement, the absence of ghost forces induced by spurious viscosities and the ability to reproduce complex physical effects that can be observed in nature. On the basis of several theoretical analyses, quantitative academic comparisons and complex visual experiments we show that none of the recent approaches is able to satisfy all requirements. In contrast, our proposed method meets all demands and therefore produces realistic animations in highly complex scenarios. We demonstrate that our solver outperforms former approaches in terms of physical accuracy and memory consumption while it is comparable in terms of computational performance. In addition to the implicit viscosity solver, we present a method to simulate melting objects. Therefore, we generalize the viscosity model to a spatially varying viscosity field and provide an SPH discretization of the heat equation.  相似文献

We will in this paper present methods and algorithms for estimating two-view geometry based on an orthographic camera model. We use a previously neglected nonlinear criterion on rigidity to estimate the calibrated essential matrix. We give efficient algorithms for estimating it minimally (using only three point correspondences), in a least squares sense (using four or more point correspondences), and optimally with respect to the number of inliers. The inlier-optimal algorithm is based on a three-point solver and gives a fourth-order polynomial time algorithm. These methods can be used as building blocks to robustly find inlier correspondences in the presence of high degrees of outliers. We show experimentally that our methods can be used in many instances, where the orthographic camera model isn’t generally used. A case of special interest is situations with repetitive structures, which give high amounts of outliers in the initial feature point matching.  相似文献

The incidence of early prostate cancer (PCa) has increased rapidly in recent years. The majority of newly diagnosed PCa are in early tumor phase. Presently, we do not have adequate biomarkers to assess tumor aggressiveness in individual cases. Consequently, too many patients are given curatively intended treatment. An exploration of the human proteome may provide clinically useful markers. 2-DE has been successfully used for analysis of the protein phenotype using clinical samples. Proteins are separated according to size and charge, gels are compared by image analysis, protein spots of interest are excised, and proteins identified by MS. This method is exploratory and allows protein identification. However, low-abundance proteins are difficult to detect and 2-DE is currently too labor-intensive for routine use. In recent years, nongel based techniques, such as LC-MS, SELDI-MS, and protein arrays have emerged. They require smaller sample sizes and can be more automated than 2-DE. In this review, we describe studies of the protein expression of benign prostatic tissue and PCa, which is likely to serve as the first step in prognostic biomarker discovery. The prostate proteome is still far from a complete mapping which would enhance our understanding of PCa biology.  相似文献

The capability to establish boundary‐spanning practices within and across organizations has for long been recognized as a key strategic resource. As organizations are becoming distributed and dynamic, they will be increasingly populated by multiple functional, geographical, hierarchical and professional boundaries. The inherent complexity of such settings makes it difficult for organizations to leverage their boundary‐spanning practices. Information technology (IT) systems have been hailed as a critical enabler of boundary spanning. However, there is little knowledge on how organizations are affected by the introduction of different types of IT systems. Building on an interpretive case study of Swedish transport organizations, this paper explores consequences of sensor technology for boundary spanning. The paper contributes with an understanding of what coexisting use contexts mean for boundary‐spanning practices. A theoretical implication is that such multi‐contextuality requires an integrative view on boundary spanning that combines insights from the organizational innovation and work practice literatures.  相似文献

We present a system for doing automatic surveying or structure and motion analysis given 1D images of a 2D surrounding. Nothing is known about the structure of the scene features or of the motion of the camera. The system automatically identifies and tracks the image of new points and solves the structure and motion problem. One key feature of the system is the ability to hypothesize, test and incorporate simple constraints on the scene, e.g. that two object points are the same, that several points are coplanar. In this paper we develop and test the theory for automatic geometric reasoning. Ideas on hypothesis generation and testing are presented. It is also shown how to update the uncertainty representation of the database.  相似文献

The limit of linear viscoelasticity is determined for poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(ethyl methacrylate) (PEMA) in uniaxial tension creep over the temperature range of 20° to Tg ?10°C. The time span covered is from 10 to 1000 sec. The linear limit is defined as the point at which the creep compliance deviates by more than 1% from its mean value in the linear viscoelastic range. For both materials, the stress limit of linear viscoelasticity falls to a minimum or plateau level at a temperature below Tg. It is suggested that the β-mechanism plays an important role in the existence of this minimum.  相似文献

Mixing is investigated in three laminar radial flow cells (capillary gap cell (stationary discs), pump cell (one disc spinning) and the rotating electrolyser (co-rotating discs)) using numerical and semianalytical methods for inert tracer transport. Results are compared to existing data. Mixing in the three cells is modelled using finite element techniques applied to convection-dominated inert tracer transport. For the capillary gap cell modes of tracer tagging and detection are commented on with respect to which type provides the correct representation of the residence time distribution. The extent of cross-gap communication, from anode to cathode, is quantified and compared to that observed in the other radial cell designs. Two semi-analytical solutions (convection only, Taylor diffusion) are derived for inert tracer transport in this configuration and are compared to the detailed numerical results. Convection only is relevant fort d/t c ratios of greater than 100 and the Taylor diffusion model applies fort d/t c ratios of about 0.10 and only beyond a critical radius defined herein. Pump cell (PC) mixing is modelled using finite element techniques for the tracer, the velocity field being provided by a semi-analytical solution. Mixing is quantified in this cell and cross-gap communication evaluated. The large axial velocities provide for significant cross-gap mixing. The rotating electrolyser is modelled and the efficiency of separation of catholyte/anolyte streams is observed to be determined by Taylor number (Taylor number () — ratio of half-gap width divided by theoretical boundary layer thickness). The superiority of separation in this cell is quantified by definition of the zeroth wall moment and comparison with the other two radial cells. For the example modelled, cross-gap communication was less than half that of the other cells.  相似文献
