In this paper we evaluate several routing protocols for mobile, wireless, ad hoc networks via packetlevel simulations. The ad hoc networks are multihop wireless networks with dynamically changing network connectivity owing to mobility. The protocol suite includes several routing protocols specifically designed for ad hoc routing, as well as more traditional protocols, such as link state and distance vector, used for dynamic networks. Performance is evaluated with respect to fraction of packets delivered, endtoend delay, and routing load for a given traffic and mobility model. Both small (30 nodes) and medium sized (60 nodes) networks are used. It is observed that the new generation of ondemand routing protocols use much lower routing load, especially with small number of peertopeer conversations. However, the traditional link state and distance vector protocols provide, in general, better packet delivery and endtoend delay performance.  相似文献

We propose a framework for quality‐of‐service (QoS) provisioning for multimedia services in next generation wireless access networks. This framework aims at providing a differentiated treatment to multimedia traffic flows at the link layer, which can be broadly classified as real‐time (or delay‐sensitive) and non‐real‐time (or delay‐tolerant). Various novel schemes are proposed to support the differential treatment and guarantee QoS. These schemes include bandwidth compaction, channel reservation and degradation, with the help of which a call admission and control algorithm is developed. The performance of the proposed framework is captured through analytical modeling and simulation experiments. Analytically, the average carried traffic and the worst case buffer requirements for real‐time and non‐real‐time calls are estimated. Simulation results show up to 21% improvement in the admission probability of real‐time calls and up to 17% improvement in the admission probability of non‐real‐time calls, when various call control techniques like bandwidth compaction are employed. Using our channel reservation technique, we observe a 12% improvement in the call admission probability compared to another scheme proposed in the literature. Presents new methods for lossless predictive coding of medical images using two dimensional multiplicative autoregressive models. Both single-resolution and multi-resolution schemes are presented. The performances of the proposed schemes are compared with those of four existing techniques. The experimental results clearly indicate that the proposed schemes achieve higher compression compared to the lossless image coding techniques considered.  相似文献

Aluminium doped ZnO films have been developed by RF-magnetron sputtering at 350 °C substrate temperature on glass substrate and commercially available SnO2-coated glass substrate. The developed ZnO and SnO2/ZnO films can be used as the substrates of microcrystalline silicon based solar cell. The electrical, optical properties and surface morphologies of ZnO film and SnO2/ZnO bi-layer films have been investigated and they are compared with the commercially available SnO2-coated glass substrate. The resistivities of ZnO and SnO2 films are comparable (10−4 Ω-cm). Surface morphologies of different transparent conducting oxide coated substrates before and after H-plasma exposure were studied by scanning electron microscopy. The optical transmission of ZnO, SnO2/ZnO and SnO2 films are comparable and varies from 85 to 90% in the visible region. The optical transmission reduces drastically to less than 20% in SnO2 films and for ZnO film it remains almost unchanged after H-plasma exposure. For SnO2/ZnO film transmission decreases slightly but remains considerably high (80%). The performance of microcrystalline silicon solar cells fabricated on different transparent conducting oxides as substrates (ZnO/glass, SnO2/glass and ZnO/SnO2/glass double layer) is investigated in detail.  相似文献

The present work is concerned with computation of natural convection flow in a square enclosure with a centered internal conducting square block both of which are given an inclination angle. Finite volume method through the concepts of staggered grid and SIMPLE algorithm have been applied. Deferred QUICK scheme has been used to discretize the convective fluxes and central difference for diffusive fluxes. The problem of conjugate natural convection has been taken up for validating the code. The abrupt variation in the properties at the solid/fluid interface are taken care of with the harmonic mean formulation. Solution has been performed in the computational domain as a whole with proper treatment at the solid/fluid interface. Computations have been performed for Ra = 103–106, angle of inclination varying from 15° to 90° in steps of 15° and ratio of solid to fluid thermal conductivities of 0.2 and 5.0. Results are presented in terms of streamlines, isotherms, local and average Nusselt number.  相似文献

A method of preparing self-doped p- and n-type and In-doped n-type CdTe thin-films for photovoltaic applications has been developed using r.f. sputtering. Ohmic contacts to n-type films with contact resistivity less than 10?2 Ω — cm2 have been obtained. Schottky barrier diode test devices, formed by evaporation of various metals including Au on n-CdTe films, have been examined for electrical and photovoltaic evaluation of the sputtered films. Although S.B. diodes based on In doped films, prepared under Cd overpressure, show promising electrical and photovoltaic performance (Voc ~ 315 mV, Isc ~ 4.6mA/cm2), much improvement remains to be made by further control of dopant concentration and structural details of films.  相似文献

Ultrafiltration of black liquor was carried out using an asymmetric membrane and the results were compared with that of polyethylene glycol, a standard macromolecule, in a stirred batch cell. The effects of system parameters, e.g., pressure, concentration and stirrer speed on permeate flux and solute rejection were studied extensively for both the solutes.

An osmotic pressure model was used to analyze experimental results. To take into account the phenomena of concentration polarization, an extra resistance term, called the polarization layer resistance (Rp), was incorporated into the model. The polarization layer resistance was found to be a function of flow regime and concentration at the membrane. To correlate these, the following two types of relationship were examined and tested with the experimental results,

A quasi-TEM approach based on conformal transformation is used for the determination of the characteristic impedance of a rectangular coaxial line (TEM cell) having a symmetrically located inner conductor (septum) supported on a dielectric slab of equal width. The method of determination of the capacitance of the dielectric-filled portion is discussed. The results on characteristic impedance for two values of dielectric constant are presented.  相似文献

Eighteen-breath nitrogen washouts were performed on eight subjects. Each washout could be simulated by a four-compartment model, each compartment with a different ventilation-to-volume ratio and a variable contribution to expiratory flow. In large breaths initiated near residual volume, a terminal nitrogen rise (TNR) was seen. To account for the TNR with this model, there were relatively small changes in flow from compartments with markedly different nitrogen concentration. Reasons are given for believing these compartments could not be the upper and lower lung. Three of these subjects were studied in the supine, seated, and head-down positions. The TNR was seen at the same lung volume in all positions. At routine bronchospirometry in a second group of subjects, sampling with small catheters during a nitrogen washout showed a TNR in the expirate of lungs, lobes, segments, and subsegments in the upright and supine positions. Apparently a large vertical hydrostatic gradient is unnecessary to produce a TNR. Finally, the TNR was shown to occur at that lung volume where transpulmonary pressure is very small and changing rapidly with volume. This TNR was often followed by a terminal nitrogen fall while the lung was continuing to empty. The TNR occurs when flow from a large poorly ventilated compartment increases relative to the flow from other compartments. A model of lung in which the poorly ventilated compartment develops high specific compliance at low lung volume explains these data.  相似文献

The quantitative determinations of phenol in phenolated calamine lotion USP and of phenol and resorcinol in phenol-resorcinol-boric acid solution by high-pressure liquid chromatography are reported. The procedures are simple, rapid (no special preliminary treatment is required), and accurate. There is no interference from other ingredients of the lotion (bentonite magma, calamine, and zinc oxide) or solution (acetone and boric acid).  相似文献
