Solid-solution partitioning of Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn in the organic horizons of a forest soil 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2

We report the solid-liquid partitioning of Cd, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn in 60 organic horizon samples of forest soils from the Hermine Watershed (St-Hippolyte, PQ, Canada). The mean Kd values are respectively 1132, 966, 802, 3337 and 561. Comparison of those Kd coefficients to published compilation values show that the Kd values are lower in acidic organic soil horizons relative to the overall mean Kd values compiled for mineral soils. But, once normalized to a mean pH of 4.4, the Kd values in organic soil horizons demonstrate the high sorption affinity of organic matter, which is either as good as or up to 30 times higher than mineral soil materials for sorbing trace metals. Regression analysis shows that, within our data set, pH and total metal contents are not consistent predictors of metal partitioning. Indeed, metal sorption by the solid phase must be studied in relation to complexation by dissolved organic ligands, and both processes may sometime counteract one another. 相似文献

Optimum detectors for pilot symbol assisted modulation (PSAM) signals in Rayleigh and Rician fading channels are derived. Conventional PSAM as used on Rayleigh fading channels is also employed on Rician fading channels. It is shown that the conventional PSAM receiver is optimal for binary phase shift keying in Rayleigh fading but suboptimal for Rician fading and suboptimal for 16-ary quadrature amplitude modulation in Rayleigh fading. The optimum PSAM signal detector uses knowledge of the specular component and also jointly processes the pilot symbols and the data symbol. The performance of the optimum detector is analyzed and compared with that of the conventional detector. It is concluded that substantial gains can be achieved by exploiting knowledge of the specular component while joint processing of the data symbol with the pilot symbols may offer small benefits. 相似文献

This article presents a method to study and correct radiometric distortions caused by topography in SAR images. The method is easy to implement and requires neither sophisticated software nor code-level programming. It also considers the case of a flat surface having an elevation different from the one for which calibration parameters were derived. An ortho-image of the slant range distance is used with a Digital Elevation Model to generate images of the local incident angle along the range and azimuth directions. The method compensates for variations in the terrain area of each pixel and for the angular dependence of backscatter, allowing the choice of either an empirical or semi-empirical scattering model. The method is applied to high-resolution C-SAR subsets of an agricultural area in the Central Cordillera of Costa Rica. The removal of topographic features appears excellent for local incident angles up to 80°, but small-scale structures have pronounced effects on the radar return for higher local incident angles and are not adequately corrected. 相似文献

The segmentation of SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images is greatly complicated by the presence of coherent speckle. To carry out this process a hierarchical segmentation algorithm based on stepwise optimization is used. It starts with each individual pixel as a segment and then sequentially merges the segment pair that minimizes the criterion. In a hypothesis testing approach, we show how the stepwise merging criterion is derived from the probability model of image regions. The Ward criterion is derived from the Gaussian additive noise model. A new criterion is derived from the multiplicative speckle noise model of SAR images. The first merging steps produce micro-regions. With standard merging criteria, the high noise level of SAR images results in the production of micro-regions that have unreliable mean and variance values and irregular shapes. If the micro-segments are not correctly delimited then the following steps will merge segments from different fields. In examining the evolution of the initial segments, we see that the merging should take into account spatial aspects. In particular, the segment contours should have good shapes. We present three measures based on contour shapes, using the perimeter, the area and the boundary length of segments. These measures are combined with the SAR criterion in order to guide correctly the segment merging process. The new criterion produces good micro-segmentation of SAR images. A high performance liquid chromatographic method has been developed for the assay of flurbiprofen, or flurbiprofen sodium and related compounds in drug raw materials and tablets. A phenyl column with a mobile phase of acetonitrile: 1.0% acetic acid (60:40) provide for the resolution of twenty-one related compounds from the drug. Minimum detectable levels of the related compounds are 0.01% and minimum quantifiable levels are 0.1% or less. Total impurity levels in seven raw materials ranged from 0.0 to 0.6%. There is great interest in the use of decision feedback equalization (DFE) to mitigate the effects of intersymbol interference (ISI) on wireless multipath fading channels. The present study investigated the associated factors of internalising and externalising behaviour problems among sexually abused adolescents. One hundred fifty-eight female adolescent victims of sexual abuse, aged between 13 and 17 years, were recruited. Participants completed a battery of questionnaires measuring cognitive distortions, coping strategies, empowerment, behaviour problems, perception of their relationship with their mother and father, maternal support, characteristics of the sexual abuse as well as other forms of violence experienced. Results show that interpersonal distrust and general self-attributions of blame are two factors associated with both internalising and externalising behaviour problems. In addition, the mother/daughter relationship is associated with externalising behaviour problems. These results partially support Spaccarelli's model. They also highlight the important role of cognitive distortions, particularly general self-attributions of blame and interpersonal distrust, which may be targeted in treatments that are aimed at reducing behavioural problems. A maximum likelihood estimator for the local average signal-to-noise ratio in a slowly fading Rician channel is proposed. The probability density function of the estimator is derived and the mean, the variance and the mean square error of the estimator are obtained. The performance of the estimator is examined.
