Spatial reasoning in a fuzzy region connection calculus   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Although the region connection calculus (RCC) offers an appealing framework for modelling topological relations, its application in real-world scenarios is hampered when spatial phenomena are affected by vagueness. To cope with this, we present a generalization of the RCC based on fuzzy set theory, and discuss how reasoning tasks such as satisfiability and entailment checking can be cast into linear programming problems. We furthermore reveal that reasoning in our fuzzy RCC is NP-complete, thus preserving the computational complexity of reasoning in the RCC, and we identify an important tractable subfragment. Moreover, we show how reasoning tasks in our fuzzy RCC can also be reduced to reasoning tasks in the original RCC. While this link with the RCC could be exploited in practical reasoning algorithms, we mainly focus on the theoretical consequences. In particular, using this link we establish a close relationship with the Egg-Yolk calculus, and we demonstrate that satisfiable knowledge bases can be realized by fuzzy regions in any dimension.  相似文献

Chemical frosting is used as a surface decorating method by many glass package producers. After immersion in an acid frosting bath, glass items present the desired frosted effect. The perception of this particular effect is due to the formation of a microscopic crystalline pattern on the glass surface, which scatters light passing through the glass surface. The chemical composition of the frosting bath influences these properties by modifying the surface roughness, the depth, and the average slopes of the crystalline pattern. Perception of the final aspect can be modified according to the chemical composition of the frosting bath. Different correlations between all these parameters exist and have been quantified.  相似文献

This study investigates the fatigue performance of resistance-welded thermoplastic composites. Lap shear specimens consisting of unidirectional carbon fibre/poly-ether-imide (CF/PEI), unidirectional carbon fibre/poly-ether-ketone-ketone (CF/PEKK) and 8-harness satin weave fabric glass fibre/poly-ether-imide (GF/PEI) composites were resistance-welded using a metal mesh heating element. The specimens were fatigue-tested at various percentages of their static lap shear strengths at a load ratio R = 0.1 and frequency f = 5 Hz. The fatigue performances of resistance-welded semi-crystalline (PEKK) and amorphous (PEI) composites were compared and the failure modes of the specimens were described. The stiffness degradation was monitored during the tests in order to evaluate the damage accumulation in the specimens. Linear stress-life (SN) curves were obtained for all three materials when plotted on a semi-log scale. Interlaminar failure modes, involving tearing of the heating element and damage to the adherends were observed. The indefinite fatigue lives of CF/PEKK and CF/PEI welded specimens were obtained at 25% of their static lap shear strengths. The indefinite fatigue life of the GF/PEI welded specimens was obtained at 20% of the static lap shear strength.  相似文献

The CXCR3 chemokine receptor was first discovered in 1996 and has been shown to play an important role in several diseases, most of which are related to inflammation. This review describes in detail the development of small CXCR3 ligands and their therapeutic potential. Classes of CXCR3 antagonists with strikingly variable core structures have emerged. Some of these compounds have confirmed the beneficial role of CXCR3 antagonism in animal models of disease. One of the compounds, AMG487, progressed to Phase II clinical trials but has been withdrawn because of lack of efficacy. New antagonist classes are being developed to reveal the full therapeutic potential of CXCR3.  相似文献

We report the experimental structure determination of cold, mass selected Ag(55)(+/-) cluster ions using the recently developed technique of trapped ion electron diffraction. By comparison of experimental and theoretical molecular scattering functions and consideration of computed total energies, we show that Ag(55)(+) constitutes an ideal Mackay icosahedron, whereas Ag(55)(-) is a weakly Jahn-Teller distorted icosahedron. Isomers of other structural types, for example, decahedral or close-packed, could be ruled out. The candidate structures were obtained by density functional theory calculations.  相似文献

Pig semimembranosus muscles, sampled from normal hams or from PSE-zones of defective hams, were analysed by histochemistry and electrophoretic techniques. PSE zones were characterised by a disorganisation of fibre alignment and a significant increase of inter fibre spacing (26.2% vs. 16.9%, p<0.05). Protein solubility was significantly lower in defective muscle (55.4 vs. 91.5mg/g, p<0.001). SDS-PAGE evidenced in such samples a lower abundance of the 97, 40 and 26kDa bands in the sarcoplasmic fraction and a higher abundance of the 97, 58, 34, 31, 15 and 11kDa bands in the myofibrillar fraction. Intensity of the MHC band (200kDa) was lower in PSE zone samples. By 2-D electrophoresis, it was shown that troponin T, MLC 1 and alpha-crystallin were less proteolysed in defective muscles, while creatine kinase fragments were more represented. One form of HSP 27 was absent from PSE zone samples. Overall, meat from PSE-zones and fast pH fall-PSE meat show numerous histological and biochemical similarities, particularly in their protein characteristics.  相似文献

Male American palm weevils (APWs),Rhynchophorus palmarum (L.) produced two sex-specific compounds, which were disclosed by volatile collections on Supelpak-2 and gas chromatography. One was a minor compound, not always detected. The major male-produced volatile was identified as (2E)-6-methyl-2-hepten-4-ol through coupled gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and gas chromatography-Fourier transform infrared spectrometry, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry, and rational synthesis. The purpose of this study is to determine the electrical behaviour of high-Tc superconductor microstrip lines. TheFdtd method is used to put into discrete terms Maxwell’s equations. The two-fluid model has been chosen to describe the behaviour of the superconductor. Evidence for the use of defensive compounds for sexual purposes is scarce, even though sexual selection might have some importance for the evolution of defensive traits. This study investigates the effect of defense-related traits and body size on mating success in two sister species of leaf beetle differing in their type of chemical defense. Oreina gloriosa produces autogenous cardenolides, whereas O. cacaliae sequesters pyrrolizidine alkaloids from its food plant. Larger O. gloriosa males with more toxin or higher toxin concentration had a mating advantage, likely due to direct or indirect female choice. In the laboratory, particular pairings recurred repeatedly in this species, indicating mate fidelity. O. gloriosa females were also subject to sexual selection, possibly by male choice, because larger females and those with higher toxin concentration mated more readily and more often. In O. cacaliae, in contrast, sexual selection for toxicity and body size was not detected, or at best was much weaker. Because toxicity is heritable in O. gloriosa but environment-dependent in O. cacaliae, individuals of the former species could be choosing well-defended partners with good genes. Our study suggests that sexual selection may contribute to the maintenance of heritable defensive traits.  相似文献
