The exponential expansion of the Internet and the widespread popularity of the World Wide Web give a challenge to experts on reliable and secure system design, e.g., e-economy applications. New paradigms are on demand and mobile agent technology is one of the features. In this paper, we propose a fault-tolerance execution model by using of mobile agents, for the purpose of consistent and correct performance with a required function under stated conditions for a specified period of time. Failures are classified into two classes based on their intrinsic different effects on mobile agents. For each kind of failure, a specified handling method is adopted. The introduction of exceptional handling method allows performance improvements during mobile agents’ execution. The behaviors of mobile agents are statistically analyzed through several key parameters, including the migration time from node to node, the life expectancy of mobile agents, and the population distribution of mobile agents, to evaluate the performance of our model. The analytical results give new theoretical insights to the fault-tolerant execution of mobile agents and show that our model outperforms the existing fault-tolerant models. This paper aims to assess quantitatively the actual visual environment of uncontrolled urban downtown intersections in Japan in relation to frequently occurring crossing collisions and to discuss the safety countermeasures for them. In Field Study 1 dealing with direct visibility, our ultra-wide-angle photograph analysis revealed that most of the right/left-ward visible range at 11 intersections were insufficient to check safety, and the quality of direct visibility was closely associated with causing crossing collisions. The countermeasures to reduce a blind area were determined to be a top priority. In Field Study 2 dealing with indirect visibility, more than half of the 25 traffic convex mirrors had marked shortcomings for preventive safety, and ergonomics guidelines ensuring indirect visibility were proposed for installing traffic convex mirrors. Low-cost/low-technology-oriented countermeasures are highly recommended to obtain clear/sufficient images of crucial information satisfying drivers' requirements on traffic convex mirrors in accordance with those ergonomics guidelines was highly recommended. In Web search, with the aid of related query recommendation, Web users can revise their initial queries in several serial rounds in pursuit of finding needed Web pages. In this paper, we address the Web search problem on aggregating search results of related queries to improve the retrieval quality. Given an initial query and the suggested related queries, our search system concurrently processes their search result lists from an existing search engine and then forms a single list aggregated by all the retrieved lists. We specifically propose a generic rank aggregation framework which consists of three steps. First we build a so-called Win/Loss graph of Web pages according to a competition rule, and then apply the random walk mechanism on the Win/Loss graph. Last we sort these Web pages by their ranks using a PageRank-like rank mechanism. The proposed framework considers not only the number of wins that an item won in competitions, but also the quality of its competitor items in calculating the ranking of Web page items. Experimental results show that our search system can clearly improve the retrieval quality in a parallel manner over the traditional search strategy that serially returns result lists. We propose a novel multi-spectral imaging method based on compressive sensing (CS). In CS theory, the enhancement of signal sparsity is important for accurate signal reconstruction. The main novelty of the proposed method is the employment of a self-correlation of an image, that is a local intensity similarity and multi-spectral correlation, to enhance the sparsity of the multi-spectral image to be recovered. Local intensity similarity, which is based on the concept that spatial changes in intensity are likely to be similar within local regions, contributes to sparsity enhancement. Furthermore, we exploit multi-spectral correlation to improve the sparsity of the multi-spectral components to be recovered. In order to simultaneously exploit different types of characteristics (i.e., local intensity similarity and multi-spectral correlation) for representing a signal as sufficiently sparse, we introduce a hierarchical joint sparsity model in the CS image recovery process. Our experiments show that the use of a self-correlation significantly improves the performance of multi-spectral image reconstruction. 相似文献

The effects of psychological stress on eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders have not been elucidated. This study investigated the effects of psychological stress in a mouse model of eosinophilic enteritis (EoN). BALB/c mice were treated with ovalbumin (OVA) to create an EoN model and subjected to either water avoidance stress (WAS) or sham stress (SS). Microscopic inflammation, eosinophil and mast cell counts, mRNA expression, and protein levels of type 2 helper T cell (Th2) cytokines in the ileum were compared between groups. We evaluated ex vivo intestinal permeability using an Ussing chamber. A corticotropin-releasing hormone type 1 receptor (CRH-R1) antagonist was administered before WAS, and its effects were analyzed. WAS significantly increased diarrhea occurrence and, eosinophil and mast cell counts, and decreased the villus/crypt ratio compared to those in the SS group. The mRNA expression of CRH, interleukin IL-4, IL-5, IL-13, eotaxin-1, and mast cell tryptase β2 significantly increased, and the protein levels of IL-5, IL-13, and OVA-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) also significantly increased in the WAS group. Moreover, WAS significantly increased the intestinal permeability. The CRH-R1 antagonist significantly inhibited all changes induced by WAS. Psychological stress exacerbated ileal inflammation via the CRH-mast cell axis in an EoN mouse model. 相似文献
