Field measurements were conducted to investigate the onset and growth of hypoxia in the Tone River Estuary. Vertical profiles of dissolved oxygen (DO), salinity, and temperature were measured along the deepest line of the estuary. Rates of oxygen consumption by water and sediment in a salt wedge were obtained using laboratory tests. The measurements showed that hypoxia frequently occurred in the front part of the salt wedge and expanded its area toward the river mouth during the summer when the river flow rate was small. The data also suggested that the onset of hypoxia was delayed by the estuarine circulation which supplied oxygen-rich seawater to the salt wedge. To simulate this phenomenon, a two-dimensional flow model in the vertical-longitudinal plane was constructed by transversely integrating the k–ε model equations. The results of model simulation for three months in the summer of 1997 closely matched the field data. The model simulation proved that DO degradation is highly correlated with the residence time of salt water in the estuary.  相似文献

Experiments were conducted on simultaneous recovery of uranium and plutonium electrochemically into laboratory scale liquid cadmium cathodes (LCCs) at different U/Pu ratios in the salt phase, and the influence of the salt composition on the recovered amounts of uranium and plutonium, the morphologies of uranium and plutonium in the LCC, and the behavior of americium, which is present as a decay product of plutonium-241, were examined. As a result, it was shown that there is a threshold in the U/Pu ratio in the salt phase between 1/4.3 and 1/1.73 for the successful simultaneous recovery of uranium and plutonium up to 10 wt% in the LCC at high current efficiencies. In the LCC, uranium and plutonium existed in the forms of intermetallic compounds, (U, Pu)Cd6 and (U, Pu)Cd11, and also pure uranium metal. It was also revealed that americium associates with plutonium according to the separation factor during the LCC operation.  相似文献

Estimations have been made, resulting in a general method for the prediction of the incubation time for cavitation erosion using various cavitating conditions and materials. Alkyl‐substituted cyclobutanetetracarboxylic dianhydrides (CBDAs) were synthesized by photo‐dimerization of alkyl‐substituted maleic anhydrides to obtain novel colorless polyimides (PIs). Dimethyl‐substituted CBDA (DM‐CBDA) showed much higher polymerizability with various diamines than conventional cycloaliphatic tetracarboxylic dianhydrides and led to high molecular weights of PI precursors. Polyaddition of non‐substituted CBDA and trans‐1,4‐cyclohexanediamine (t‐CHDA) was completely inhibited by salt formation in the initial reaction stage. The use of DM‐CBDA allowed the formation of a homogeneous/viscous PI precursor solution by overcoming the salt formation problem. The prominent substituent effect probably reflects how the methyl substituents of DM‐CBDA contributed to increasing the salt solubility. Some of the thermally imidized DM‐CBDA‐based systems simultaneously possessed non‐coloration, low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), very high Tg exceeding 300 °C and very low dielectric constant. Copolymerization was very effective for improving the solubility of DM‐CBDA‐based PIs. The copolyimide cast films prepared via chemical imidization displayed a further decreased CTE without sacrificing other target properties, suggesting that the present materials can be useful as plastic substrates in display devices. The mechanism of self‐chain orientation behavior during solution casting is also discussed. A potential application of the copolyimide systems as optical compensation film materials in liquid crystal displays is proposed. © 2013 Society of Chemical Industry .  相似文献

A new approach is presented to evaluate multi-loop integrals, which appear in the calculation of cross-sections in high-energy physics. It relies on a fully numerical method and is applicable to a wide class of integrals with various mass configurations. As an example, the computation of two-loop planar and non-planar box diagrams is shown. The results are confirmed by comparisons with other techniques, including the reduction method, and by a consistency check using the dispersion relation.  相似文献

Structure of poly(dioxanone) (PPDX) fibers produced through a two-step melt-spinning process with an additional short-period annealing above the melting temperature of PPDX was investigated and the effect of annealing on the degradation behavior was discussed. The morphological study carried out by etching the fibers using a phosphate or permanganate solution suggested that the fibers take a skin–core structure, and both the skin layer and the core region consist of a bundle of microfibrils. The micro-beam X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the short-period annealing in the production process only slightly promotes the crystallization in the skin layer but contributes to increasing the packing of amorphous chains near the skin, which seems to be the controlling factor of the hydrolytic degradation behavior of the fibers.  相似文献

Although octacalcium phosphate (OCP) powder and a collagen/gelatin composite demonstrate good potential as bone substitutes, an OCP block has not been fabricated to date. In this study, the feasibility of fabricating an OCP block was evaluated through a dissolution-precipitation reaction using a calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CSH) block as a precursor. When the block was immersed in a phosphate salt solution, its composition changed to that of OCP, while its structure was maintained. The diametral tensile strength (DTS) of the OCP block was 1.0?±?0.2?MPa. The macroporosity and microporosity of the OCP block were 33.4?±?4.5% and, 69.0?±?1.6%, respectively. New bone attached well to the OCP block, and this block was partially replaced by bone 2 weeks after implantation. Four weeks after implantation, the surface of the OCP block was nearly covered with new bone and ~30% of the block was replaced by new bone, while no replacement by bone was observed in the case of a hydroxyapatite (HAp) block used as a control. It is concluded that OCP blocks are potentially suitable for their use as artificial bone substitutes.  相似文献

The recent years have seen an increasing trend in the cumulative installed capacity of distributed generators. As a result, voltage management may become difficult in existing power distribution systems in the future. A STATCOM (STAtic synchronous COMpensator) is a promising option for solving this problem because it can control reactive power rapidly and continuously. For a distribution system, STATCOM needs to be pole‐mounted to realize its low cost. However, a transformer for a STATCOM is large and heavy, and hence it is difficult to install a STATCOM on a distribution pole. We adopt a transformerless STATCOM to reduce STATCOM size and use SiC devices with low‐loss performance to obtain a more compact and efficient STATCOM. There are a large number of circuits available for a STATCOM, and there has been considerable research on performance comparisons among these circuits. However, these comparisons were drawn under different conditions, including switching frequency and level number for the circuits. In addition, these comparisons do not include the use of SiC devices. We made an equitable comparison for a 100 kVa pole‐mounted STATCOM using SiC devices. We discuss the performance and characteristics of each circuit in terms of efficiency and volume.  相似文献
