One of the most promising approaches for high speed networks for integrated service applications is fast packet switching, or ATM (asynchronous transfer mode). ATM can be characterized by very high speed transmission links and simple, hard-wired protocols within a network. To match the transmission speed of the network links, and to minimize the overhead due to the processing of network protocols, the switching of cells is done in hardware switching fabrics in ATM networks. A number of designs have been proposed for implementing ATM switches. Although many differences exist among the proposals, the vast majority of them are based on self-routeing multistage interconnection networks. This is because of the desirable features of multi-stage interconnection networks such as self-routeing capability and suitability for VLSI implementation. Existing ATM switch architectures can be classified into two major classes: blocking switches, where blockings of cells may occur within a switch when more than one cell contends for the same internal link, and non-blocking switches, where no internal blocking occurs. A large number of techniques have also been proposed to improve the performance of blocking and non-blocking switches. In this paper, we present an extensive survey of the existing proposals for ATM switch architectures, focusing on their performance issues.  相似文献

Heat and mass transfer with electrochemical reaction in an anode-supported flat-tube solid oxide fuel cell (FT-SOFC) is studied by means of three-dimensional numerical simulation. The distributions of the reaction fields in the anode-supported FT-SOFC are found to be similar to those in the planar SOFC with co-flow arrangement. However, in comparison with the latter, the concentration and activation overpotentials of the former can be reduced by additional reactant diffusion through the porous rib of the fuel channel. Parametric survey reveals that, for a fixed activation overpotential model, the output voltage can be improved by increasing the pore size of anode, while the cross-sectional geometry has smaller effect on the cell performance. Based on the results of three-dimensional simulation, we also develop a simplified numerical model of anode-supported FT-SOFC, which takes into account the concentration gradients in the thick anode of complex cross-sectional geometry. The simplified model can sufficiently predict the output voltage as well as the distributions of temperature and current density with very low computational cost. Thus, it can be used as a powerful tool for surveying wide range of anode-supported FT-SOFC design parameters.  相似文献

The purpose of this study is to investigate the vascular wall with a thermally self-regulating, cylindrical stent made of a low Curie temperature ferromagnetic alloy. Physiologic saline was circulated in the silicone model vessel implanted with the stent. The stent-temperature remained nearly constant for variable saline flows, saline temperatures, and magnetic flux densities. Stent implants of this type in human blood vessels could potentially enable thermotherapy and temperature determination without catheterization.  相似文献

An end-to-end packet delay in the Internet is an important performance parameter, because it heavily affects the quality of real-time applications. In the current Internet, however, because the packet transmission qualities (e.g., transmission delays, jitters, packet losses) may vary dynamically, it is not easy to handle a real-time traffic. In UDP-based real-time applications, a smoothing buffer (playout buffer) is typically used at a client host to compensate for variable delays. The issue of playout control has been studied by some previous works, and several algorithms controlling the playout buffer have been proposed. These studies have controlled the network parameters (e.g., packet loss ratio and playout delay), not considered the quality perceived by users. In this paper, we first clarify the relationship between Mean Opinion Score (MOS) of played audio and network parameters (e.g., packet loss, packet transmission delay, transmission rate). Next, utilizing the MOS function, we propose a new playout buffer algorithm considering user's perceived quality of real-time applications. Our simulation and implementation tests show that it can enhance the perceived quality, compared with existing algorithms.  相似文献

In this study, we have numerically analyzed the transport properties of Bi-Sb nanowires, taking into account wire boundary scattering. Wire boundary scattering slightly decreased the Seebeck coefficient of Bi-Sb nanowires. This effect is due to the observation that boundary scattering and the mobility ratio of L-point electrons to T-point holes in the nanowires are smaller than those in bulk Bi-Sb because the wire boundary scattering suppresses the mobilities of L-point electrons and heavy holes. The largest Seebeck coefficient for all wire diameters was obtained when the Sb concentration was 5 at.%. The effective mass approached zero near 5 at.% Sb, and the small effective mass led to a large subband shift in each band. Thus, a small effective mass enhances the quantum effect at a fixed wire diameter, even if wire boundary scattering is taken into account.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new view synthesis method in multiview camera configurations of Free viewpoint TV (FTV) where potential depth errors are considered. The emphasis is on the artifacts eliminating for photorealistic synthesis especially near object boundaries. In contrast to conventional techniques which ignore geometry errors, we first categorize the artifact cases and depth modes. Furthermore, this paper infers the complementarity principle of the artifacts from left and right references. This complementarity guarantees the effectiveness of our reliability-based synthesis. The reliability reasoning is crucial for artifacts reduction. The reliable and unreliable areas from different views can be correctly labeled. Then artifacts caused by unreliable pixels from one reference can be replaced by the reliable pixels from the other reference. As a final result, artifacts of novel view are demonstrated to be significantly reduced on different multiview sequences.  相似文献

The thermoelectric half-Heusler compounds Ti x NiSn0.998Sb0.002 (x = 1.0 to 1.2) and Ti y Zr0.25Hf0.25NiSn0.998Sb0.002 (y = 0.5 to 0.65) with nonstoichiometric nominal compositions were prepared by spin-casting and subsequent annealing at 1073 K for 24 h. The dimensionless figure of merit ZT at room temperature was maximized at x = 1.1 and y = 0.6 in Ti-rich compounds through an increase in absolute Seebeck coefficients despite a decrease in electrical conductivities. ZT reached 0.07 at x = 1.1 and 0.14 at y = 0.6. In powder x-ray diffraction analysis, minor phases of β-Sn, TiNi, Ti2Sn, and Ti5Sn3 were observed in addition to a major phase of half-Heusler. The quantity of the minor phases was minimized at x = 1.1 and y = 0.55, where the absolute Seebeck coefficients are maximized. In transmission electron microscopic (TEM) analysis of Ti0.55Zr0.25Hf0.25NiSn0.998Sb0.002, crystal grains of the half-Heusler phase, from several hundred nanometers to several micrometers in size, were observed. TEM energy-dispersive spectroscopy measurements indicated that fluctuations of Ti, Zr, and Hf compositions within the Ti-site in the half-Heusler phase may occur. Thermoelectric properties were improved at x = 1.1 and y = 0.6 rather than at the stoichiometric compositions of x = 1.0 and y = 0.5 due to minimization of the precipitate quantities.  相似文献

The thermodynamic properties of double oxides in rare earth-transition metal (V and Mn)-oxygen ternary systems have been collected and evaluated to examine their stability using chemical potential diagrams plotted as log (αAB) vs log ( P (O2)). The thermodynamic regularities of perovskites, pyrochlores, and other compounds have been discussed in terms of the effective ionic radii across a series of rare earths. The obtained regularities have been used to estimate tentatively the thermodynamic properties of some rare-earth vanadium and manganese oxides.  相似文献
