Heat exchangers are integral parts of important industrial units such as petrochemicals, medicine and power plants. Due to the importance of systems energy consumption, different modifications have been applied on heat exchangers in terms of size and structure. In this study, a novel heat exchanger with helically grooved annulus shell and helically coiled tube was investigated by numerical simulation. Helically grooves with the same pitch of the helical coil tube and different depth are created on the inner and outer wall of annulus shell to improve the thermal performance of heat exchanger. In the first section, thermal performance of the shell and coil heat exchanger with the helical grooves on its outer shell wall was compared with same but without helical grooves. At the second section, helically grooves created on both outer and inner wall of the annulus shell with different groove depths. The results showed that the heat exchanger with grooves on both inner and outer shell wall has better thermal performance up to 20% compared to the heat exchanger with grooves on only outer shell wall. The highest thermal performance achieves at lower flow rates and higher groove depths whereas the pressure drop did not increase significantly. 相似文献

A highly deacetylated (97.5%) chitosan in 50% acetic acid was electrospun at moderate temperatures (25-70 °C) in the presence of a low content of polyethylene oxide (10 wt% PEO) to beadless nanofibers of 60-80 nm in diameter. A systematic quantitative analysis of the solution properties such as surface tension, conductivity, viscosity and acid concentration was conducted in order to shed light on the electrospinnability of this polysaccharide. Rheological properties of chitosan and PEO solutions were studied in order to explain how PEO improves the electrospinnability of chitosan. Positive charges on the chitosan molecule and its chain stiffness were considered as the main limiting factors for electrospinability of neat chitosan as compared to PEO, since surface tension and viscosity of the respective solutions were similar. Various blends of chitosan and PEO solutions with different component ratios were prepared (for 4 wt% total polymer content). A significant positive deviation from the additivity rule in the zero shear viscosity of chitosan/PEO blends was observed and believed to be a proof for strong hydrogen bonding between chitosan and PEO chains, making their blends electrospinnable. The impact of temperature and blend composition on the morphology and diameter of electrospun fibers was also investigated. Electrospinning at moderate temperatures (40-70 °C) helped to obtain beadless nanofibers with higher chitosan content. Additionally, it was found that higher chitosan content in the precursor blends led to thinner nanofibers. Increasing chitosan/PEO ratio from 50/50 to 90/10 led to a diameter reduction from 123 to 63 nm. Producing defect free nanofibrous mats from the electrospinning process and with high chitosan content is particularly promising for antibacterial film packaging and filtration applications. 相似文献

Methylaluminoxane (MAO)-activated chromium (III) complexes of tridentate SNS ligands of the form (RSCH2–CH2)2NH (R = alkyl, aryl) have been prepared and tested for the trimerization of ethylene to 1-hexene. The effect of ethylene pressure, Al/Cr ratio and S donor substitution on 1-C6 selectivity and productivity has been examined. Exfoliated poly(styrene‐co‐methyl methacrylate) nanocomposites were synthesized using activators generated by electron transfer for atom transfer radical polymerization (AGET ATRP). Miniemulsion polymerization was used for its abundant advantages to encapsulate inorganic materials and eliminate organic solvents from products for environmentally friendly purposes. Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a cationic surfactant, which is an effective surfactant at higher temperatures, was used to stabilize the miniemulsion system. Successful miniemulsion AGET ATRP was carried out by using 4,4'‐dinonyl‐2,2'‐bipyridine (dNbPy) as a hydrophobic ligand. Formation of monodispersed droplets and particles with sizes in the range of 200nm was examined by dynamic light scattering (DLS). Conversion and molecular weight study were also carried out using gravimetry and gel permeation chromatography, respectively. By adding clay content, a decrease in the conversion and molecular weight of the nanocomposites are observed. However, an increase in the PDI values of nanocomposites was observed by the addition of nanoclay content. Thermogravimetric analysis results demonstrate that thermal stability of all the nanocomposites in comparison with the neat copolymer increases. Differential scanning calorimetry results show that Tg decreases by increasing clay content. Monodisperse distribution of spherical shape particles with sizes in the range of ∼ 200 nm was demonstrated by using scanning electron microscopy images of nanocomposite containing 1 wt% of nanoclay, which is more compiled with DLS results. Transmission electron microscopy results shows well‐dispersed exfoliated clay layers in the polymer matrix of PSMNM 1, which is coincidence with X‐ray diffraction data. POLYM. Tailor‐made polystyrene nanocomposite with mixed free and clay‐attached polystyrene chains was synthesized using atom transfer radical polymerization. Vinylbenzyl trimethylammonium chloride having a double bond, which could be incorporated into polystyrene chains by a grafting through process, was used as a nanoclay modifier. Conversion and molecular weight evaluation was carried out using gas chromatography and gel permeation chromatography, respectively. The thermogravimetric analysis results confirmed the elevated thermal stability of the nanocomposites in comparison with the neat polystyrene sample. Additionally, the Tg increases by clay loading was confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The difference in the degradation temperature of C? Br bond in attached and free polystyrene chains was well revealed in DSC thermograms. In this investigation, a theoretical study is performed to analyze the dynamic behavior of particles across flame propagation through a two-phase mixture consisting of micro-iron particles and air. In the first step for calculation of the particle velocity profile, the Lagrangian approach of particle motion is employed, and then thermophoretic, gravitational and buoyancy forces are taken into consideration. In order to simulate the temperature profile for the thermophoretic force, it is assumed that the flame structure consists of three zones: preheat, reaction, and post flame (burned). It should be noted that the radiative heat-transfer equation is employed to describe the thermal radiation exchanged between the burned zone and the preheat zone. In the resumption, a control volume above the leading edge of the combustion zone is considered and the change in the particle number density in this volume is obtained via the balance of particle mass fluxes passing through it. The results show that the induced thermal radiation plays a significant role in increasing the mixture temperature all over the preheat zone, and that the particle velocity profile and the concentration distribution of particles as a function of distance from the leading edge of the combustion zone also have considerable consistency with published experimental data. 相似文献

Today's strict environmental laws pose significant challenges for coating's formulators to look for eco-friendly products. Powder coatings, particularly polyester/epoxy blends have demonstrated their ability as alternatives to traditional solvent-borne coatings. Recently, the use of nanoparticles such as nano-CaCO3 (nCaCO3) has been suggested as a beneficial strategy towards powder coating application with improved properties. Here, we study the effect of nCaCO3 on morphology, cure behavior, adhesion and hardness of polyester/epoxy systems. The nanoparticles shape, size and dispersion state were investigated through X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) methods. Furthermore, isothermal cure characterization of the neat and filled systems was performed using a torque rheometer. The most important finding based on the rheological studies was the catalytic effect of nCaCO3 on cure reaction of polyester/epoxy, leading to the shorter curing time. Moreover, the kinetic analyses of rheograms revealed a marked decrease in the activation energy of the cure process upon raising nCaCO3 content. Interestingly, pull-off adhesion and hardness tests showed that the hardness and adhesion strength were dramatically increased by the addition of nCaCO3 into the polyester/epoxy system compared to pure blend resin. Therefore, considering the strong competition in powder coating market, the use of nCaCO3 as a commercial and inexpensive nanofiller is necessary not only to reduce the dwell time which has benefits in terms of the energy consumption and economics, but also to improve the performance of final polyester/epoxy coating. 相似文献

Phase morphology and rheological behavior of polyamide 6 (PA6)/acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) polymers blends was studied using scanning electron microscopy and rheometry. The results showed that the phase morphology and rheological properties depends on blend composition. We evaluated the effect of addition of ABS as dispersed phase and EnBACO‐MAH (ethylene n‐butyl acrylate carbon monoxide maleic anhydride) as a compatibilizer on the morphological and rheological behaviors of PA6/ABS blends. It was concluded that there is a good agreement between the results obtained from rheological and morphological studies. As a consequence, addition of the ABS and compatibilizer weight percent led to a significant change in morphological structure and a great mounting in the viscosity as well as the elasticity. The rheological properties results demonstrate that adding compatibilizer to polymer blends led to increasing the crossover point, which shows a transition from a high viscous to a considerably more elastic behavior. Also, the slow transition of relaxation time peak from the peak of the PA6 to the peak of the ABS implies increasing the miscibility of the PA6/ABS blend components by increasing compatibilizer content. In addition, the Carreau–Yasuda model was used to extract information on rheological properties (zero shear viscosity and relaxation time) for PA6/ABS/EnBACO‐MAH blends by fitting the experimental data with this model. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
