This paper presents an adaptive memetic algorithm to solve the vehicle routing problem with time windows (VRPTW). It is a well-known NP-hard discrete optimization problem with two objectives—to minimize the number of vehicles serving a set of geographically dispersed customers, and to minimize the total distance traveled in the routing plan. Although memetic algorithms have been proven to be extremely efficient in solving the VRPTW, their main drawback is an unclear tuning of their numerous parameters. Here, we introduce the adaptive memetic algorithm (AMA-VRPTW) for minimizing the total travel distance. In AMA-VRPTW, a population of solutions evolves with time. The parameters of the algorithm, including the selection scheme, population size and the number of child solutions generated for each pair of parents, are adjusted dynamically during the search. We propose a new adaptive selection scheme to balance the exploration and exploitation of the solution space. Extensive experimental study performed on the well-known Solomon’s and Gehring and Homberger’s benchmark sets confirms the efficacy and convergence capabilities of the proposed AMA-VRPTW. We show that it is very competitive compared with other state-of-the-art techniques. Finally, the influence of the proposed adaptive schemes on the AMA-VRPTW behavior and performance is investigated in a thorough sensitivity analysis. This analysis is complemented with the two-tailed Wilcoxon test for verifying the statistical significance of the results.  相似文献

This work describes the mechanochemical synthesis, structural characterization and electrical properties of an interesting group of novel ionic conductors, with general formula Gd2(Hf2?x Ti x )2O7. Different compositions in this system (x = 0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6 and 2) were obtained at room temperature, via a mechanochemical reaction between the corresponding elemental oxides, and characterized by using XRD, Raman spectroscopy and SEM. The XRD structural analysis by the Rietveld method revealed that all the Hf-containing compositions show a disordered fluorite-like structure instead of the expected pyrochlore-like atomic ordering, and the cation size mismatch criteria for pyrochlore stability. Increasing Ti content promotes a phase transformation to the pyrochlore structure with post-milling thermal treatments, which takes place in all samples on annealing at 1200 °C, except for Gd2Hf2O7. These results were confirmed by Raman spectroscopy, which also suggests that the x = 0.4 sample has the highest degree of oxygen disorder in the system and that this disorder decreases with increasing Ti4+ content. Finally, all samples show the pyrochlore structure on firing at 1500 °C. Activation energies E dc for oxygen migration were determined by using impedance spectroscopy and found to be within the ~0.9–1.2 eV range, whereas conductivity σ dc values at 700 °C vary from 1.12 × 10?6 to 2.75 × 10?4 S cm?1, with decreasing conductivity as Ti4+ content increases.  相似文献

Fatigue is a governing design limit state for marine structures. Welded joints are important in that respect. The weld notch stress (intensity) distributions contain essential information and formulations have been established to obtain a total stress fatigue damage criterion and corresponding fatigue resistance curve; a total stress concept. However, the involved weld load carrying stress model does not provide the required estimates and trends for varying geometry dimensions and loading & response combinations. A new one has been developed and performance evaluation for T‐joints and cruciform joints in steel marine structures shows that in comparison with the nominal stress, hot spot structural stress and effective notch stress concept based results up to 50% more accurate fatigue design life time estimates can be obtained. Taking advantage of the weld notch stress formulations, the effective notch stress concept performance has improved adopting a stress‐averaged criterion rather than a fictitious notch radius‐based one.  相似文献

Fully tetragonal and sintered 13 mol% TiO2─3 mol% Y2O3─84 mol% ZrO2 was thermally treated at 1300°C for 1 h in argon in the presence of carbon. No phase changes occurred on the as-received surface and in the bulk of the material, but t → m transformation occurred on polished surfaces under reducing conditions, and it resulted in increased fracture toughness, Young's modulus, and modulus of rigidity. Deoxidation of the system occurred and 0.174 wt% of carbon was found in the sample. This seemed to stabilize the tetragonal phase.  相似文献

Automated measurement programs are an efficient way of collecting, processing, and visualizing measures in large software development companies. The number of measurements in these programs is usually large, which is caused by a diversity of the needs of the stakeholders. In this paper, we present the application of the self‐healing concepts to assure the availability of measurements to the stakeholders without the need for effort‐intensive and costly manual interventions of the operators. We study the measurement infrastructure at one of the development units of a large infrastructure provider. In this paper, we present how the Monitor, Analyze, Plane, and Execute with Knowledge model was instantiated in a simplistic manner to reduce the need for manual intervention in the operation of the measurement systems. Based on the experiences from the 2 cases studied in this paper, we show how an evolution toward self‐healing measurement systems is done both with a dedicated failure taxonomy and with an effective straightforward handling of the most common errors in the execution. The mechanisms studied and presented in this paper show that self‐healing provides significant improvements to the operation of the measurement program and reduces the need for daily oversight by an operator for the measurement systems.  相似文献

Attaining higher levels of system integration is seen as the primary goal of construction enterprise information systems (CEIS). Increased system integration resulting from CEIS implementation is expected to lead to numerous benefits. These benefits encompass information technology infrastructure and strategic, operational, organizational, and managerial aspects of the firm. By adopting CEIS, firms seek tangible and intangible benefits, such as cost reduction, improved productivity, enhanced efficiency, and business growth. Through the use of statistical analysis, this study quantifies the critical success factors that impact CEIS integration and the ensuing benefits. Furthermore, it analyzes the effects of system integration on CEIS induced benefits. It also investigates the impact of CEIS strategy on CEIS induced benefits and identifies the relationship between CEIS strategy and system integration. Optical access networks provide a future proof platform for a wide range of services, and today, several operators are deploying fibre to the home (FTTH) networks. Installing an FTTH infrastructure, however, involves very high investment cost. Therefore, a good estimation of the investment cost is important for building a successful business strategy and, consequently, to speed up the FTTH penetration. In this paper, for calculating the amount of cable and fibre in the outside plant together with the associated civil works, and the number of required network elements, two different approaches are investigated: (1) geometric modelling of the fibre plant based on approximate mathematical models and (2) geographic modelling of the fibre plant based on map-based geospatial data. The results obtained from these two approaches can then be used as input for preliminary investment cost calculations and/or techno-economic evaluations. Compared to more complex and accurate geographic modelling, we verify that especially with uneven population density and irregular street system, simple geometric models do not provide accurate results. However, if no geospatial data is available or a fast calculation is desired for a first estimation, geometric models definitely have their relevance. Based on the case studies presented in this paper, we propose some important guidelines to improve the accuracy of the geometric models by eliminating their main distortion factors.  相似文献

Air gauges for dimensional measurement are known for decades. They have been applied in many technological processes, especially in the systems of in-process control. The air gauges are connected with pneumatic measuring devices able to generate control signals. Nowadays, however, it is not enough to just indicate dimensional bounds of tolerance. The Quality Management Systems require recorded and processed data achieved during the measurement. Investigations led to the development of air gauges integrated with piezoresistive pressure transducers. In those systems the results of measurement are achieved in digital form, they are processed and recorded. Additionally, dynamical properties of integrated air gauges appear much better. Multipoint linearization of the air gauge appears to be advantageous, though some companies offer the adjustment using one setting master only.  相似文献
