Laminar mixed convection of Al2O3/water nanofluid flow in a cavity in which the upper wall is moving from right to left has been studied numerically. Fifteen different arrangements of two discrete sources and four discrete sinks have been considered. This work shows when one source is located at the right side of the bottom wall and other one at the down half of the left wall, total heat transfer achieves its maximum value. The lowest heat transfer rate is achieved when more than two vortexes are created in the cavity (case 13 for Ri=1 and case 5 for Ri=100). In general, for cases with one overall vortex, the cavities which have separate sources induce better cooling and have higher Nu number.  相似文献

A novel process is developed to synthesize graphene oxide sheets with an ultralarge size based on a solution‐phase method involving pre‐exfoliation of graphite flakes. Spontaneous formation of lyotropic nematic liquid crystals is identified upon the addition of the ultralarge graphene oxide sheets in water above a critical concentration of about 0.1 wt%. It is the lowest filler content ever reported for the formation of liquid crystals from any colloid, arising mainly from the ultrahigh aspect ratio of the graphene oxide sheets of over 30 000. It is proposed that the self‐assembled brick‐like graphene oxide nanostructure can be applied in many areas, such as energy‐storage devices and nanocomposites with a high degree of orientation.  相似文献

In the present study, wear properties of A356 unreinforced alloy and composites with different vol.% of boron carbide particles were investigated. It is noted that composites exhibit better wear resistance compared to unreinforced alloy. According to the differences in wear rates of the composites, two separate wear rate were identified as low and high wear rate regimes. A combination of artificial neural network (ANN) and finite element technique (FEM) was implemented in order to predict the composites wear behavior. The FEM method is used for discretization and to calculate the transient temperature field of quenching. It is observed that predictions of ANN are consistent with experimental measurements for A356 composite and considerable savings in terms of cost and time could be obtained by using neural network model.  相似文献

In this research, polishing flat surfaces has been done by using a completely new and innovative method. In this method, rotary magnetic tool that carry magnetic abrasive powders, is placed in a very strong thermal induction field, and magnetic rotary tool frequently change its direction from clockwise (CW) to counterclockwise (CCW) and CCW to CW. The frequency of changing rotation direction is an important parameter of this innovation method. The intended pieces for polishing operations have been placed on a synchronic two-axis Cartesian CNC table, and the gap between rotary magnetic tool and the sheet surface can be controlled by a power transmission screw operating in the direction of the vertical axis. Several experiments have proved high performance of the new proposed method in the process of polishing.  相似文献

Large deflection of a cantilever beam subjected to a tip-concentrated load is governed by a non-linear differential equation. Since it is hard to find exact or closed-form solutions for this non-linear problem, this paper investigates the aforementioned problem via the differential transformation method (DTM) and the variational iteration method (VIM), which are well-known approximate analytical solutions. The mathematical formulation is yielded to a non-linear two-point boundary value problem. In this study, we compare the DTM and VIM results, with those of Adomian decomposition method (ADM) and the established numerical solution obtained by the Richardson extrapolation in order to verify the accuracy of the proposed methods. As an important result, it is depicted from tabulated data that the DTM results are more accurate in comparison with those obtained by the VIM and ADM, which is one of the objectives of this article. Moreover, the effects of dimensionless end point load, ??, on the slope of any point along the arc length and the dimensionless vertical and horizontal displacements are illustrated and explained. The results reveal that these methods are very effective and convenient in predicting the solution of such problems, and it is predicted that the DTM and VIM can find a wide application in new engineering problems.  相似文献

In our work, operation of hybrid desiccant cooling system (HDCS) has been investigated based on experimental studies. Different climates have been created by changing the temperature and humidity of HDCS inlet air, using an electrical heater and a centrifuge humidifier. Input energies, temperature of various points, and their relative humidity have been measured at the created climates. Coefficient of performance (COP), thermal coefficient of performance, and electrical coefficient of performance (ECOP) of the HDCS have been calculated. As a reference situation, vapor compression system (VCS) was examined at the same condition as HDCS. Results show that COP of HDCS in comparison with VCS decreased about 36% and 28% in hot-dry and hot-humid climates, respectively, which is due to the thermal energy consumption in HDCS. In contrast its ECOP increased, which means that by using HDCS some electrical energy would be saved. Defining operating cost index (OCI) parameter, operation costs of VCS and HDCS have been compared. Analyzing the OCI results shows that in HDCS, although decreasing the electricity consumption results in more usage of natural gas, these systems are economical especially in those countries with low natural gas prices.  相似文献

A new surface modification protocol encompassing an anodization treatment has been developed to improve the surface properties of biomedical titanium. Anodization in presence of nickel sulfate is one of a good way to improve the resistance of commercial pure titanium (cp‐Ti) in phosphate saline buffer solution (PSB). The potentiostatic behavior of anodized titanium in sulfuric acid with nickel sulfate differed markedly from that of titanium anodized in sulfuric acid free from nickel sulfate. Polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) recorded an increase in the corrosion resistance of the passive film. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy diffraction X‐ray (EDX) analysis were used to investigate the morphology and structure of the anodized film in absence and in presence of nickel sulfate. On the other hand, sealed anodized titanium samples exposed to PSB for up to 3 days have been studied by EIS to obtain detailed information concerning the electrochemical properties of sealed anodized titanium. An equivalent circuit that reproduces the impedance results of porous cp‐Ti oxide (TiO2) films is proposed. These observations indicate that anodization of cp‐Ti in presence of nickel sulfate and sealing the anodized film can serve as a simple low‐temperature method to enhance the corrosion resistance of cp‐Ti when used as an implant material.  相似文献

In this paper the acceleration motion of a vertically falling spherical particle in incompressible Newtonian media is investigated. The velocity is evaluated by using homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and Padé approximant which is an analytical solution technique. The current results are then compared with those derived from HPM and the established fourth order Runge–Kutta method in order to verify the accuracy of the proposed method. It is found that this method can achieve more suitable results in comparison to HPM.  相似文献

Water Distribution Systems (WDSs) are indispensable infrastructures for urban societies. Due to vitality of continuous supply of drinking water in urban areas, it is necessary to have a performance evaluation and monitoring system to provide the expected level of security in water distribution systems. A main weakness point of these systems is the physical break of pipes which results in high level of water loss, pollution risk and public unsatisfactory. In this study, a framework is developed to increase physical water supply security in urban areas. For this purpose, a physical vulnerability index (PVI) is developed for evaluation of physical statues of water mains. In quantifying PVI, pipe characteristics and bedding soil specifications are considered. The importance of these factors on PVI is determined using Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). In system performance evaluation, the pipe role in system performance is incorporated regarding pipe location in WDS, distance of pipe from reservoir and average pressure of pipe. Then, System Physical Performance Index (SPVI) is evaluated. An optimization algorithm is employed to determine ways to improve the system performance through enhancing the physical condition of the pipe in the system at a minimum cost. The genetic algorithm is employed for solving the optimization model. A global sensitivity analysis method named FAST, is used for sensitivity analysis to incorporate the correlation between different parameters in analysis. The proposed framework is applied to a case study located in Tehran metropolitan area. The results of this study show the significant value of the proposed algorithm in supporting decision makers to better choose vulnerable pipes for rehabilitation practices in order to decrease system vulnerability against physical failures.  相似文献
