To setup efficient wireless mesh networks, it is fundamental to limit the overhead needed to localize a mobile user. A promising approach is to rely on a rendezvous-based location system where the current location of a mobile node is stored at specific nodes called locators. Nevertheless, such a solution has a drawback, which happens when the locator is far from the source–destination shortest path. This results in a triangular location problem and consequently in increased overhead of signaling messages. One solution to prevent this problem would be to place the locator as close as possible to the mobile node. This requires however to predict the mobile node’s location at all times. To obtain such information, we define a mobility prediction model (an agenda) that, for each node, specifies the mesh router that is likely to be the closest to the mobile node at specific time periods. The location service that we propose formalizes the integration of the agenda with the management of location servers in a coherent and self-organized fashion. To evaluate the performance of our system compared to traditional approaches, we use two real-life mobility datasets of Wi-Fi devices in the Dartmouth campus and Taxicabs in the bay area of San Francisco. We show that our strategy significantly outperforms traditional solutions; we obtain gains ranging from 39 to 72% compared to the centralized scheme and more than 35% compared to a traditional rendezvous-based solution. 相似文献

The refractive index of silicon oxynitride (SiON), a widely used material for integrated optics devices, can be chosen in a wide range between 1.45-2.0. We describe how the consequent large design freedom can be exploited on the one hand for a “standard” polarization independent optical channel waveguide having a favorable tradeoff between efficient fiberchip coupling and small bend radii (compact devices) and on the other hand for special-purpose and hybrid components where the refractive index should be finely adjusted for obtaining the desired functionality. In this paper, we extensively investigate a family of solar-blind thin-film photodetectors optimized for the ultraviolet spectrum (UV). The devices are p-i-n structures made of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) and silicon carbide (a-SiC:H) on a glass substrate. At room temperature the photodetectors exhibit values of quantum efficiency of 20% at λ=187 nm, and are transparent to visible radiation. The excellent sensitivity of the device at short wavelengths is explained within the framework of a diffusive model of transport, taking into account the effects of hot carrier relaxation. The rejection of visible light is obtained with an appropriate design of the energy gap and intrinsic layer thickness. The variation of the diffusion coefficient D (E ) versus the electric field strength E is determined at 300 K in n-type GaAs (N D=3×10-17 cm-3 ), using pulsed high-frequency noise measurements. D (E ) is found to increase slightly at low field, then to decrease down to one tenth of its ohmic value near the threshold field. Long (⩾4 μm) real n+-n-n+ Gunn diodes, with an arbitrary doping profile, can be modeled. Comparisons are made, and excellent agreement is found, between experimental and theoretical characteristics of two real diodes, with notch and with gradual doping profiles. The doping profile N D(x ) is shown to have a considerable influence on the diode behavior, in regard to the electric field profile as well as the noise characteristics. Using the impedance field method, the noise current is modeled and found to by very sensitive in the D (E ) variation law, in particular in the range of 2.5-4 kV/cm. Three mixtures of precooked white corn flour with 10, 20 and 30% amaranth flour were prepared. The sedimentation and consistency of the mixtures differed from those of the white corn flour, but without altering the capacity of dough formation to prepare arepas. The protein, fiber, and ash contents were higher than those of the precooked white corn flour. The functional properties of water and oil absorption increased in 20 and 10%, respectively. During the three-month storage, the protein and fat contents were not altered. Acceptability tests of the arepas were carried out and results indicated that those mixtures prepared with 10% and 20% substitution levels were acceptable from the sensory point of view. The protein quality was analyzed in terms of protein efficiency ratio (PER), which proved to be higher than that of the commercial white corn flour (PER 1.93), and the apparent digestibility was 92%. As far as lysine is concerned, results showed that arepas prepared with the mixture containing 10% amaranth (1.6 g lysine/100 g protein) and 20% (2.0 g lysine/100 g protein) also proved to be higher than the commercial white corn flour arepas (0.7 g lysine/100 g protein). Based on the above findings, enrichment of commercial white corn flour with grain amaranth flour, prior to the preparation of arepas, a product of high consumption in Venezuela as part of the habitual diet, is recommended. 相似文献
