The preparation of large quantities of heterogeneous materials containing non-agglomerated and monodispersed nanoparticles is becoming one of the bottlenecks that hinders the development of commercial devices. Here we describe a method to prepare monodispersed metallic (Cu, Ag, Au, Ni, Co, and Fe) nanoparticles in a silicate matrix (sepiolite) by means of a reduction process of metallic cations associated with a dehydration process of the matrix. This process is characterized by the huge amount of monodispersed metallic nanoparticles that it produces. Additionally, these nanoparticles have been revealed to be remarkably stable against oxidation because the transformed sepiolite matrix becomes a diffusion barrier for oxygen. To assess the relation between immunological disorders and recurrent abortion, 15 pregnant women with previous unexplained recurrent abortivity were submitted to serum screening for antiphospholyeid antibodies syndrome (APA) syndrome. The screening included specific tests for autoimmune diseases (ANA, specific organ antibodies, immune complexes research, etc.), the immunoenzymatic assay (ELISA) for the research of anticardiolipin antibodies (ACA) and the determination of the kaolin coagulation time (KCT) through Exener method for lupus anticoagulant (LAC). Nine gravids out of 15 were positive both to LAC and ACA antibodies, two gravids were positive to only ACA antibodies, while four had no antibody reaction. Therefore, whatever the effective mechanism is, it seems ascertained that several cases of unexplained recurrent abortion are related to APA syndrome. Nowadays the above-mentioned syndrome is successfully treated using corticosteroid immunosuppressors and platelet antiaggregators which reduce autoimmune reaction and thrombotic episodes. 相似文献

Suitability of sardine (lean and fatty), dolphinfish and blue whiting for cold-smoking was evaluated. Stable water-holding capacity was observed in dolphinfish and blue whiting, but this tended to decrease in sardine throughout the storage. The 2-thiobarbituric acid index was not suitable for lipid oxidation measure in these smoked fishes and rancid flavours were only detected in sardine at the end of storage period. Total volatile basic nitrogen tended to increase in all three species. Lactic acid bacteria became the dominant microflora and Enterobacteriaceae did not show any growth. A bacteriostatic effect of at least 21 days was observable in all the smoked species. Sensory shelf life was 11 weeks for both types of sardine and 9 weeks for dolphinfish and blue whiting. Softening of muscle tissue and the development of bitter and off flavours were the main causes of rejection. Smoking as a processing technology can be used to add value to excess sardine and dolphinfish catches, due to sensory acceptability ratings. In contrast, the blue whiting was not suitable for smoking due to unacceptable soft texture, a characteristic of this species. 相似文献

By reviewing the syndromic manifestation, transsexualism in characterized as a psychiatric entity, apart from homossexualism and transvestism. The two main feasible etiologic causes of transsexualism are discussed: the psychoanalytical hypothesis based upon psycossexual regression with imprinting of maternal figure and the neuroendocrine model which assumes alterations of the gender role identity centers in the hypothalamus. On the grounds of the latter explanation and after the scheme that seems to occure in the Morris syndrome whose cells (XY) do not respond to the masculinizing effect of plasma testosterone, it is proposed that transsexuals should possess detectable or cryptic sex-chromosome mosaicism affecting hypothalamic centers of gender role identity which do not respond to the androgenic secretion produced by primitive gonad. This possibliity explains the excessive prevalence of the syndrome among men, its typical features in the male as well as its sporadic occurrence. Cytogenetic investigation reveals that the frequency (32%) of sex-chromosome mosaicism among 25 transsexuals and 40 normal control people, both groups presenting the proportion of the mosaicism practically null. The karyotypic criterion as a valuable aid in the syndrome diagnosis is considered. 相似文献

Essential oils of clove (Syzygium aromaticum L.), fennel (Foeniculum vulgare Miller), cypress (Cupressus sempervirens L.), lavender (Lavandula angustifolia), thyme (Thymus vulgaris L.), herb-of-the-cross (Verbena officinalis L.), pine (Pinus sylvestris) and rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) were tested for their antimicrobial activity on 18 genera of bacteria, which included some important food pathogen and spoilage bacteria. Clove essential oil showed the highest inhibitory effect, followed by rosemary and lavender. In an attempt to evaluate the usefulness of these essential oils as food preservatives, they were also tested on an extract made of fish, where clove and thyme essential oils were the most effective. Then, gelatin–chitosan-based edible films incorporated with clove essential oil were elaborated and their antimicrobial activity tested against six selected microorganisms: Pseudomonas fluorescens, Shewanella putrefaciens, Photobacterium phosphoreum, Listeria innocua, Escherichia coli and Lactobacillus acidophilus. The clove-containing films inhibited all these microorganisms irrespectively of the film matrix or type of microorganism. In a further experiment, when the complex gelatin–chitosan film incorporating clove essential oil was applied to fish during chilled storage, the growth of microorganisms was drastically reduced in gram-negative bacteria, especially enterobacteria, while lactic acid bacteria remained practically constant for much of the storage period. The effect on the microorganisms during this period was in accordance with biochemical indexes of quality, indicating the viability of these films for fish preservation. 相似文献

The design and evaluation of a compact C-band orthomode transducer for dual polarisation satellite communications is presented, covering the bands 3.7-4.2 GHz and 5.925-6.425 GHz (54% of fractional bandwidth separation). Over such a broadband, the main difficulty is to obtain a compact structure able to fulfil the stringent satellite specifications with minimum longitudinal length. The proposed configuration, validated with a tested prototype, also reduces the number of connections and parts in the fabrication, decreasing the passive intermodulation risk and the mass and volume. 相似文献

Biodegradable self‐reinforced films of poly (3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV) and PHBV microparticles were prepared through the solvent casting method (srPHBV). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), wide angle X‐ray scattering (WAXS) and polarized optical microscopy results confirmed the nucleating effect of PHBV microparticles. WAXS proved that diffractograms of PHBV and srPHBV‐6 films at room temperature contain the main characteristic diffraction peaks of an orthorhombic α‐type crystalline structure. Small angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS) showed a similar decrement rate of long spacing in PHBV and srPHBV films. SAXS/WAXS data revealed that when the amount of filler was increased, lamellae thickness grew. Transmission electron microscopy images illustrated well filler dispersion in the srPHBV films. Scanning electron microscopy results exhibited a significant reduction in porosity for srPHBV films once the PHBV microparticles were added. Atomic force microscopy analysis showed higher surface roughness after filler incorporation. Samples of srPHBV films showed higher barrier properties against water vapor, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. Combined properties of srPHBV films revealed the possibility of being suitable candidates for food packaging applications. POLYM. ENG. Placebo white tablet cores (lactose anhydrous [47.6%], corn starch [23.8%], microcrystalline cellulose [19.1%], polyvinylpyrrolidone [7.9%], magnesium stearate [0.8%], and talcum powder [0.8%]) were coated with a colorant (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose [8% w/v], titanium dioxide [0.2% w/v], FD&C yellow No. 6 with aluminum lacquer [0.8% w/v], polyethylene glycol 4000 [0.4% w/v], and purified water [q.s.p. 100 mL]) using a random spraying method during 130 minutes. During the coating process, batches of 21 samples were extracted every 10 minutes and measured with a DigiEye imaging system. The initial cores showed very similar and uniform colors (Mean Color Difference from the Mean [MCDM] of 0.8 CIELAB units), but partially coated tablets showed lower uniformity (MCDM below 2.0 CIELAB units). There was a high color variability (MCDM about 4.0 CIELAB units) among tablets of the same batch in the period between 10 and 30 minutes, which decreased as the coating process progressed, until achieving a final acceptable value (MCDM below 2.0 CIELAB units). During the coating process, L* decreased, C*ab strongly increased, and h ab remained nearly constant (disregarding results at 0 and 10 minutes). CIELAB and CIEDE2000 color differences (mainly chroma differences) with respect to the initial color of the tablets were modeled as a function of time by exponential functions with three coefficients. The color change in the interval from 90 to 130 minutes (4.3 CIELAB units, or 2.6 CIEDE2000 units), may be considered negligible bearing in mind the color variability in the batches of 21 samples and typical values of visual color thresholds. 相似文献
