Marine polysaccharides are believed to be promising wound-dressing nanomaterials because of their biocompatibility, antibacterial and hemostatic activity, and ability to easily shape into transparent films, hydrogels, and porous foams that can provide a moist micro-environment and adsorb exudates. Current efforts are firmly focused on the preparation of novel polysaccharide-derived nanomaterials functionalized with chemical objects to meet the mechanical and biological requirements of ideal wound healing systems. In this contribution, we investigated the characteristics of six different cellulose-filled chitosan transparent films as potential factors that could help to accelerate wound healing. Both microcrystalline and nano-sized cellulose, as well as native and phosphorylated cellulose, were used as fillers to simultaneously elucidate the roles of size and functionalization. The assessment of their influences on hemostatic properties indicated that the tested nanocomposites shorten clotting times by affecting both the extrinsic and intrinsic pathways of the blood coagulation system. We also showed that all biocomposites have antioxidant capacity. Moreover, the cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of the materials against two cell lines, human BJ fibroblasts and human KERTr keratinocytes, was investigated. The nature of the cellulose used as a filler was found to influence their cytotoxicity at a relatively low level. Potential mechanisms of cytotoxicity were also investigated; only one (phosphorylated microcellulose-filled chitosan films) of the compounds tested produced reactive oxygen species (ROS) to a small extent, and some films reduced the level of ROS, probably due to their antioxidant properties. The transmembrane mitochondrial potential was very slightly lowered. These biocompatible films showed no genotoxicity, and very importantly for wound healing, most of them significantly accelerated migration of both fibroblasts and keratinocytes.  相似文献

Poly(butylene terephthalate), poly(butylene azelate), and poly(butylene terephthalate/butylene azelate) random copolymers of various compositions were synthesized in bulk using the well‐known two‐stage polycondensation procedure, and characterized in terms of chemical structure and molecular weight. The thermal behavior was examined by thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry. As far as the thermal stability is concerned, it was found to be rather similar for all copolymers and homopolymers investigated. All the copolymers were found to be partially crystalline, and the main effect of copolymerization was a lowering in the amount of crystallinity and a decrease of melting temperature with respect to pure homopolymers. Flory's equation was found to describe the Tm–composition data and permitted to calculate the melting temperatures (T°m ) and the heats of fusion (ΔHu) of both the completely crystalline homopolymers. Owing to the high crystallization rate, the glass transition was observable only for the copolymers containing from 30 to 70 mol % of the terephthalate units; even though the samples cannot be frozen in a completely amorphous state, the data obtained confirmed that the introduction of the aromatic units gave rise to an increase of Tg, due to a chain stiffening. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Despite much work on Universal Multimedia Experience (UME), existing video adaptation approaches cannot yet be considered as truly user-centric, mostly due to their poor handling of semantic user preferences. Indeed, these works mainly concentrate on lower-level user preferences but do neither consider any fine-grained object-level adaptation nor evaluate different adaptation options based on predicted user expectations. Moreover, these works do not provide owners with property rights that enable them to place restrictions on the types of modifications to be made to the video content. To address these shortcomings, we propose the Personalized vIdeo Adaptation Framework (PIAF) for high-level semantic video adaptation. PIAF is a fully integrated framework providing all the requirements for a semantic video adaptation. It defines a video annotation model and a user profile model comprising semantic constraints that are delineated in a consistent way, based on the standards MPEG-7 and MPEG-21. At the heart of the framework, the Adaptation Decision Taking Engine (ADTE) computes utility values for different adaptation options, considering each shot separately. The corresponding utility function evaluates the possible choices by evaluating multiple parameters that capture different dimensions of a multimedia experience: amount of modified content, modifications to key objects and shots with respect to the semantic integrity of the original content, expected processing cost of the adaptation, and the anticipated visual and temporal quality of the adapted content. Furthermore, the ADTE can deal with intellectual property issues by selecting an adaptation plan of good quality that also satisfies constraints specified by the content owner. This paper places a significant emphasis on theoretical details of the utility function and the computation of the adaptation plan. It also presents the results and evaluation of the adaptation process both in simulation and user study.  相似文献

A recent meta-analysis (P. Verbaeghen & L. De Meersman, 1998a) revealed that older adults show a reliable but significantly reduced negative priming effect compared with young adults. The present study provides an updated quantitative review on the effect of aging on the magnitude of the negative priming effect in identity tasks. This analysis demonstrated that the negative priming effect was not significantly different between young and old adults. This result differs from P. Verhaeghen and L. De Meersman's study.
