The mathematical transforms such as Fourier transform, wavelet transform and fractional Fourier transform have long been influential mathematical tools in information processing. These transforms process signal from time to frequency domain or in joint time–frequency domain. In this paper, with the aim to review a concise and self-reliant course, the discrete fractional transforms have been comprehensively and systematically treated from the signal processing point of view. Beginning from the definitions of fractional transforms, discrete fractional Fourier transforms, discrete fractional Cosine transforms and discrete fractional Hartley transforms, the paper discusses their applications in image and video compression and encryption. The significant features of discrete fractional transforms benefit from their extra degree of freedom that is provided by fractional orders. Comparison of performance states that discrete fractional Fourier transform is superior in compression, while discrete fractional cosine transform is better in encryption of image and video. Mean square error and peak signal-to-noise ratio with optimum fractional order are considered quality check parameters in image and video.  相似文献

Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) has gained eminence in a very short period as it can learn deep data distributions with the help of a competitive process among two networks. GANs can synthesize images/videos from latent noise with a minimized adversarial cost function. The cost function plays a deciding factor in GAN training and thus, it is often subjected to new modifications to yield better performance. To date, numerous new GAN models have been proposed owing to changes in cost function according to applications. The main objective of this research paper is to present a gist of major GAN publications and developments in image and video field. Several publications were selected after carrying out a thorough literature survey. Beginning from trends in GAN research publications, basics, literature survey, databases for performance evaluation parameters are presented under one umbrella.

The present study aims to study the antibacterial activity of food-grade lipidic nanoemulsion (noncationized/cationized) against Bacillus subtilis (BS). Bactericidal activity was ascertained by studying the morphological transitions on BS using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Morphological changes were witnessed by cell wall breakage, oozing out of cellular contents, loss of cell turgidity and contour. Furthermore, aggregation of cationic nanoemulsion (CaNM) was preferentially observed at apical side of BS construing comparatively more electrostatic attraction between electronegative apical side and CaNM. Resistance response of BS exhibited by apical cell-wall thickening was not able to protect the bacteria due to leakage of cellular content. AFM corroborated its importance in bacteriology, wherein the fragmented cell wall can be “piece-by-piece” identified and sutured back to its appropriate vacant places, thereby, completing the cell wall contour of the ghost cell. Such postmortem analysis of bacterial cell using AFM studies can throw light toward mechanism of cell fragmentation of bacterial cells. SEM study also demonstrated the deformed, fragmented, and amorphous nature of BS construing the bactericidal effect of prepared nanoemulsion.  相似文献

Surface area and morphology of materials play an important role on their gas sensing performance because of the varying number and nature of adsorption sites. Current work reports a comparative study of LaFeO3 synthesized by the facile hydrothermal method using two precursors; citric acid and KOH. The microstructure observed through FESEM and TEM showed different morphologies for the two precursors and calcination time (2?h & 6?h). Prior to calcination, higher surface area (50.54?m2/g) was obtained for LaFeO3 prepared using KOH as compared to that for LaFeO3 using citric acid (3.21?m2/g). Surface area increased from 3.21 to 7.06?m2/g for citric acid and decreased from 50.54 to 11.42?m2/g for KOH as calcination takes place for 6?h. Needle-shaped morphology of p-type LaFeO3 with high surface area (50.54?m2/g) for KOH would provide large active sites which would enhance sensitivity towards gases. Hence, LaFeO3 samples prepared using KOH with and without calcination are expected to give better performance for gas sensing than LaFeO3 samples synthesized using citric acid.  相似文献
