Image‐ and data‐parallel rendering across multiple nodes on high‐performance computing systems is widely used in visualization to provide higher frame rates, support large data sets, and render data in situ. Specifically for in situ visualization, reducing bottlenecks incurred by the visualization and compositing is of key concern to reduce the overall simulation runtime. Moreover, prior algorithms have been designed to support either image‐ or data‐parallel rendering and impose restrictions on the data distribution, requiring different implementations for each configuration. In this paper, we introduce the Distributed FrameBuffer, an asynchronous image‐processing framework for multi‐node rendering. We demonstrate that our approach achieves performance superior to the state of the art for common use cases, while providing the flexibility to support a wide range of parallel rendering algorithms and data distributions. By building on this framework, we extend the open‐source ray tracing library OSPRay with a data‐distributed API, enabling its use in data‐distributed and in situ visualization applications.  相似文献

Network measurement was neglected in the Internet’s early stages, taking lower priority to increasing the network’s speed, capacity, and coverage. Recently, however, interest in network measurement has expanded, paving the way toward a growing understanding of the Internet’s structure and behavior. Unfortunately, as the number of Internet users has grown, antisocial and even malicious behavior has also increased. Countering these and other scaling challenges will require substantially more investment in Internet measurement and data analysis. Demand cardiac pacemaker functions are under study that provide new methods to distinguish between cardiac activity and pulsatile electromagnetic interference (PEMI). All known forms of currently marketed ventricular inhibited demand pacemaker (VVI) functions can be inhibited by high level pulsatile electromagnetic interference. The recent introduction of shielded circuitry to protect against disruptive (inhibiting) EMI has reduced pacemaker sensitivity to interference. However, EMI received via the cardiac lead/electrode can still mimic cardiac activity. This mimicing occurs as a consequence of detection by defribrillator protection structures or by amplifier saturation from RF artifacts insufficiently suppressed by input QRS bandpass filters. The new functions under development employ a separate EMI detection receiver for controlling the pacemaker mode to minimize inhibition by PEMI.  相似文献

Tests were conducted on rechargeable mercury-zinc pacemaker batteries under simulated and actual biologic conditions, using a variety of discharge rates and charging schedules. In tests on 96 cells at a 6.4 milliampere (ma) discharge, recharging once every 15 months of simulated pacing at a 25 microampere (mua) drain, the earliest cell failure occurred after an equivalent of 50 years of pacing. The mean pacing equivalent for all 96 cells was more than 140 years. In 6.4 ma discharge tests on 24 cells, recharging once every 8 days of simulated pacing, only 1 cell in 24 failed after an equivalent of more than 500 years of pacing (actual time 2 years). In tests on 13 cells pacing at a 200 mua drain without recharging, the simulated mean duration of pacing before total discharge was 4.8 years. Seven other cells at a 200 mua drain with periodic recharging continue to function normally after more than 7 years of actual time, simulating 56 years of pacing at a 25 mua drain. Cardiac pacemakers using the rechargeable mercury-zinc cell have been implanted in animals for more than 2 1/2 years and in patients for more than 1 year with all units continuing to function satisfactorily. It has been demonstrated unequivocally that a rechargeable mercury-zinc pacemaker will function continuously for more than 4 years without recharging and that periodic recharging will extend pacing life far beyond that predicted for lithium and nuclear primary power sources.  相似文献

The sequence A-A-U-A-A-A is present in six different purified messenger RNA molecules (specifically the alpha-and beta-globulin mRNAs of rabbit and human, the immunoglobulin light chain mRNA of mouse (MOPC 21) and the ovalbumin mRNA of chicken) about 20 residues away from the 3'-terminal poly (A) sequence. In addition, a large selection of the 3' non-coding regions of rabbit and human globulin mRNAs (both the alpha and beta globin mRNAs) are 85% homologous, demonstrating that this region is significantly conserved in evolution.  相似文献

This work concerns the analysis of model naphthenic acids and authentic naphthenic acids from the tailings ponds of the Athabasca tar sands. A first objective was to compare atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry (APCI-MS) with the previously studied electrospray mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) in this analysis. APCI-MS had a wider range of quantitation than ESI-MS, but its detection limit was poorer and model compounds showed greater variation in calibration sensitivity. A second objective was fractionation of naphthenic acids from tailings pond water and analysis by the Microtox toxicity assay. Fractionation on the basis of solubility gave fractions that did not differ significantly either in their congener distribution by ESI-MS or in their response to the Microtox assay. When partial separation was achieved by anion exchange chromatography, fractions with a higher proportion of multi-ring structures exhibited lower toxic potency. This finding is consistent with field observations that indicate that the toxic potency of tailings ponds water declines as the samples age-multi-ring structures are more highly branched and therefore more resistant to microbial degradation.  相似文献

This paper describes the multi-objective optimized design of fenestration that is based on the façade of the building being divided into a number of small regularly spaced cells. The minimization of energy use and capital cost by a multi-objective genetic algorithm was investigated for: two alternative problem encodings (bit-string and integer); the application of constraint functions to control the aspect ratio of the windows; and the seeding of the search with feasible design solutions. It is concluded that the optimization approach is able to find near locally Pareto optimal solutions that have innovative architectural forms. Confidence in the optimality of the solutions was gained through repeated trail optimizations and a local search and sensitivity analysis. It was also concluded that seeding the optimization with feasible solutions was important in obtaining the optimum solutions when the window aspect ratio was constrained.  相似文献
