The immunological mechanisms that modulate immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection remain elusive. Little is known on the magnitude and the durability of antibody response against COVID-19. There is consensus that patients with immune dysfunction, such as dialysis patients, may be unable to mount a robust and durable humoral immunity after infections. Recent studies showed that dialysis patients seroconverted after COVID-19, but data on the durability of the immune response are missing. We reported the data of a durable anti-spike protein seroconversion after natural SARS-CoV-2 infection in three patients on hemodialysis with a mean age of 67.2 ± 13.8 years. A mean antibody titer of 212.6 ± 174.9 UA/ml (Liaison®, DiaSorin) was found after one year (range, 366–374 days) from the diagnosis of COVID-19. In conclusion, this case series provided evidence that patients receiving hemodialysis who recovered from severe COVID-19 were able to mount a long-lasting immune response against SARS-CoV-2. Although the protective capacity of this long-term immunity remains to be determined, these patients did not report signs of reinfection after recovery from COVID-19. 相似文献

By mechanical exfoliation, it is possible to deposit atomically thin mica flakes down to single‐monolayer thickness on SiO2/Si wafers. The optical contrast of these mica flakes on top of a SiO2/Si substrate depends on their thickness, the illumination wavelength, and the SiO2 substrate thickness, and can be quantitatively accounted for by a Fresnel‐law‐based model. The preparation of atomically thin insulating crystalline sheets will enable the fabrication of ultrathin, defect‐free insulating substrates, dielectric barriers, or planar electron‐tunneling junctions. Additionally, it is shown that few‐layer graphene flakes can be deposited on top of a previously transferred mica flake. Our transfer method relies on viscoelastic stamps, as used for soft lithography. A Raman spectroscopy study shows that such an all‐dry deposition technique yields cleaner and higher‐quality flakes than conventional wet‐transfer procedures based on lithographic resists. 相似文献

The risk from dangerous goods transport by road and strategies for selecting road load/routes are faced in this paper, by developing an original site-oriented framework of general applicability at local level. A realistic evaluation of the frequency must take into account on one side inherent factors (e.g. tunnels, rail bridges, bend radii, slope, characteristics of neighborhood, etc.) on the other side factors correlated to the traffic conditions (e.g. dangerous goods trucks, etc.). Field data were collected on the selected highway, by systematic investigation, providing input data for a database reporting tendencies and intrinsic parameter/site-oriented statistics. The developed technique was applied to a pilot area, considering both the individual risk and societal risk and making reference to flammable and explosive scenarios. In this way, a risk assessment, sensitive to route features and population exposed, is proposed, so that the overall uncertainties in risk analysis can be lowered. 相似文献

We present a novel approach for the direct synthesis of ultrathin Si nanowires (NWs) exhibiting room temperature light emission. The synthesis is based on a wet etching process assisted by a metal thin film. The thickness-dependent morphology of the metal layer produces uncovered nanometer-size regions which act as precursor sites for NW formation. The process is cheap, fast, maskless and compatible with Si technology. Very dense arrays of long (several micrometers) and small (diameter of 5-9?nm) NWs have been synthesized. An efficient room temperature luminescence, visible with the naked eye, is observed when NWs are optically excited, exhibiting a blue-shift with decreasing NW size in agreement with quantum confinement effects. A prototype device based on Si NWs has been fabricated showing a strong and stable electroluminescence at low voltages. The relevance and the perspectives of the reported results are discussed, opening the route toward novel applications of Si NWs. 相似文献

The first part of this two-part review focused on the fundamental and diagnostics aspects of laser-induced plasmas, only touching briefly upon concepts such as sensitivity and detection limits and largely omitting any discussion of the vast panorama of the practical applications of the technique. Clearly a true LIBS community has emerged, which promises to quicken the pace of LIBS developments, applications, and implementations. With this second part, a more applied flavor is taken, and its intended goal is summarizing the current state-of-the-art of analytical LIBS, providing a contemporary snapshot of LIBS applications, and highlighting new directions in laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy, such as novel approaches, instrumental developments, and advanced use of chemometric tools. More specifically, we discuss instrumental and analytical approaches (e.g., double- and multi-pulse LIBS to improve the sensitivity), calibration-free approaches, hyphenated approaches in which techniques such as Raman and fluorescence are coupled with LIBS to increase sensitivity and information power, resonantly enhanced LIBS approaches, signal processing and optimization (e.g., signal-to-noise analysis), and finally applications. An attempt is made to provide an updated view of the role played by LIBS in the various fields, with emphasis on applications considered to be unique. We finally try to assess where LIBS is going as an analytical field, where in our opinion it should go, and what should still be done for consolidating the technique as a mature method of chemical analysis. 相似文献

Inelastic tunnelling electrons are a proper excitation source to induce chemical transformations on a single adsorbate. When their energy is tuned to that of molecular vibrational states, the modification may follow complex internal vibrational pathways. Here, we analyse our recent results on the selective excitation of ammonium stretching or bending modes to control the outcome of a simple bond-cleavage reaction. With the help of model calculations, we provide a detailed molecular-scale picture of the competing internal pathways leading to molecular movement. A mode-selective strategy, based on local excitations of specific reaction coordinates, has an important drawback when applied to adsorbate systems due to the problem of fast energy randomization. The success of such a mode-selective strategy is determined here by the ability of the scanning tunnelling microscope to study reactivity in the limit of very low yield and very low power irradiation, in a regime where vibrational heating of the adsorbate/surface system becomes negligible. 相似文献

Background
A new tool, the SIMARD-MD, has been proposed to help physicians identify cognitively impaired drivers who may be unfit to drive, but little empirical evidence is available to justify its use. We analyzed data from a cohort of older Canadian drivers who had undergone cognitive testing to: (1) correlate the SIMARD-MD with other tools that measure cognition (e.g., trail-making test), (2) identify how many drivers, using published cut-offs on the SIMARD-MD, would be recommended to lose their license, or be considered fit to drive, or be required to undergo further driving assessment, and (3) determine if the SIMARD-MD is biased by level of education as many cognitive tools are.Methods
Cross-sectional data from 841 drivers aged 70 and over from seven Canadian sites who are enrolled in a 5-year cohort study were used for the analyses. Scores on the SIMARD-MD were correlated with scores on the other cognitive measures. The recommendations that would be made based on the SIMARD-MD scores were based on published cut-off values suggested by the authors of the tool. The impact of education status was examined using linear regression controlling for age.Results
Correlations between the SIMARD-MD and other cognitive measures ranged from .15 to .86. Using published cut-off scores, 21 participants (2.5%) would have been recommended to relinquish their licenses, 428 (50.9%) would have been deemed fit to drive, and 392 (46.6%) would have been required to undergo further testing. We found a difference of 8.19 points (95% CI = 4.99, 11.40, p < .001) in favor of drivers with post-secondary education versus those without, representing over 11% of the mean score.Discussion
The SIMARD-MD is unlikely to be valuable to clinicians because it lacks sufficient precision to provide clear recommendations about fitness-to-drive. Recommendations based solely on the SIMARD-MD may place many seniors at risk of losing their transportation mobility or incurring unnecessary stress and costs to prove they are safe to drive. Furthermore, the education bias may create an unwanted structural inequity. Hence, adoption of the SIMARD-MD as a tool to determine fitness-to-drive appears premature. 相似文献108.

Quaternary ammonium salts based on monofunctionalized Perfluoropolyether (PFPE) oligomers were synthesized and used for the cation exchange process of sodium Montmorillonite nanoclays. The new fluoromodified nanoclays were characterized through X-rays diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), termogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), electronic microscopy (SEM-EDS), and contact angle measurements (CA). In particular XRD showed rather complex patterns (presence of higher order reflections) which allowed the calculation of basal spacings, regularly increasing with the molecular weight of the fluorinated macrocation. Both IR and SEM confirmed the presence of fluorinated segments at clays interface, while TGA showed a limited thermal stability with an onset of degradation temperature which seems not dependent on the molecular weight of the macrocation. CA measurements showed a peculiar behaviour, with evident dynamic hysteresis phenomena and surface tension components quite different from those of commercially available, organomodified clays. 相似文献
