Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is characterized by arterial obstruction in the lower extremities due to atherosclerosis, and manifests itself as intermittent claudicating, limb ischemia, or gangrene. Diagnosis of PAD using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment without contrast medium is available as a useful visual screening in clinical practice. In this article, we propose a new method for the segmentation of arterial images which are obtained from non-contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) based on a dot enhancement filter and 3-D region-growing methods, and satisfactory experimental results are obtained. 相似文献

Although it is well-known that cancers show intratumoral phenotypic heterogeneity, genotypic studies have been scarce. Using comparative genomic hybridization and laser scanning cytometric analyses, we investigated intratumoral cytogenetic heterogeneity in 21 surgically removed gliomas including 11 glioblastomas (GBMs), 8 anaplastic astrocytomas (AAs) and 2 low-grade astrocytomas. Comparative genomic hybridization analysis revealed gain or amplification of 7p in 63%, gain of 7q in 73%, loss of 9p in 53%, loss of 10p in 47%, loss of 10q in 47%, loss of 13q in 53%, and loss of 22q in 37% of high-grade astrocytomas. Because these aberrations were region-independent within the same tumor, they did not contribute to intratumoral cytogenetic heterogeneity. Such heterogeneity was due to cytogenetic changes other than the above region-independent aberrations. Intratumoral cytogenetic heterogeneity was detected in 8 of 11 GBMs, 4 of 8 AAs, and none of the 2 low-grade astrocytomas. These observations suggest that cytogenetic changes at chromosomes 7, 9p, 10, 13, and 22 are primary events in high-grade astrocytomas and that subsequent cytogenetic changes involving increases in copy number provide intratumoral heterogeneity. DNA aneuploidy was detected by laser scanning cytometry in 5 of 11 GBMs and 1 of 8 AAs. All tumors with DNA aneuploidy exhibited intratumoral cytogenetic heterogeneity, and there was a significant correlation between DNA aneuploidy and intratumoral cytogenetic heterogeneity. The service restoration to sound sections within a short period as much as possible, performed after the permanent fault occurs in a distribution system, is significant for maintaining power supply reliability. This paper proposes an efficient method to find service restoration procedures based on fault searching and the optimal work scheduling of crews, considering the power supply priorities of loads and the probability of occurrence of faults. The proposed method is composed of two-stage problems to reduce the outage sections efficiently: (i) the problem to find a series of searching procedures for unknown fault locations in the first stage and (ii) the optimization problem of work schedules of crews in the second stage. In the first stage, the order of operation of switches opened for searching for the fault direction is determined, constituting the searching tree. After that, the proposed optimization method can efficiently solve the work scheduling problem by formulating it as a mixed-integer linear programming problem in the second stage. The computational experiments using a large-scale distribution system model with many remote and manual switches show that the proposed method can provide efficient service restoration procedures within a reasonable computational time. 相似文献

We investigate the characteristics of amorphous silicon thin film transistors (a-Si TFTs) fabricated by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) and catalytic CVD (Cat-CVD), and their stability under bias and temperature (BT) accelerated stress. The Cat-CVD a-Si TFTs have off-leak current as small as 10− 14 A, and a smaller threshold voltage shift under the BT stress. The superiority in off-leak current and stability is observed in the Cat-CVD a-Si TFTs fabricated at both 320 °C and 180 °C. The high performance and stability of the Cat-CVD a-Si TFTs will enable to use low-cost glass substrates and result in a cost reduction of TFT fabrication. 相似文献

Abstract— First, conventional poly‐Si thin‐film photodevices, p‐i‐n thin‐film photodiodes (TFPDs) and p‐n TFPDs, were evaluated. It was found that the photo‐induced current (Iphoto) is not simultaneously relatively high and independent of the applied voltage (Vapply). Next, a novel poly‐Si thin‐film photodevice, p‐i‐n thin‐film phototransistor (TFPT), is proposed. It is found that the Iphoto is simultaneously relatively high and independent of the Vapply because the depletion layer is formed in the entire intrinsic region and the electric field is always high. These characteristics are preferable for photosensor applications. Finally, the p‐i‐n TFPT was applied to an artificial retina. The photo‐illuminance profile is correctly detected and the output voltage profile is correspondingly outputted. This artificial retina is expected to be suitable for human beings because it can potentially be fabricated on a flexible, harmless, plastic, and organic substrate. 相似文献

The nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (AChRs) from Torpedo electric organ and mouse muscles when expressed in Xenopus oocytes desensitize with different time courses. Initially, the role of cAMP-dependent phosphorylation on the gamma subunits in the different desensitization rates was investigated by expressing normal and mutant AChRs in the oocytes cultured in the presence of gentamicin. Mutant Torpedo AChRs lacking the potential cAMP-dependent phosphorylation sites in the gamma subunit appear to desensitize like normal Torpedo AChRs. Similarly, mutant mouse extrajunctional AChRs containing a newly created phosphorylation site in the gamma subunit appeared to desensitize like normal mouse AChRs, which lack the potential cAMP-dependent phosphorylation site in the gamma subunit. These results suggest that different rates of desensitization between the Torpedo and muscle extrajunctional AChRs are not attributable to differential cAMP-dependent phosphorylation of these AChRs. Subsequently, to determine whether gentamicin used in culturing oocytes differentially interacts with muscle junctional and extrajunctional AChRs, we analyzed rates of current decay following different gentamicin treatments. Both chronic and acute treatment with gentamicin profoundly accelerated the decay of whole-cell currents mediated by both types of AChR. The effect of prolonged gentamicin treatment on junctional AChRs was long lasting when compared to treatment on extrajunctional AChRs. Although the two types of AChR still desensitize differently in the absence of gentamicin, these results suggest that the characteristic desensitization of junctional and extrajunctional AChRs observed previously is largely due to differential interactions of gentamicin with the two types of AChR. 相似文献

Early osseointegration is important to achieve initial stability after implant placement. We have previously reported that atmospheric-pressure plasma treatment confers superhydrophilicity to titanium. Herein, we examined the effects of titanium implant material, which was conferred superhydrophilicity by atmospheric-pressure plasma treatment, on the surrounding tissue in rat femur. Control and experimental groups included untreated screws and those irradiated with atmospheric-pressure plasma using piezobrush, respectively. The femurs of 8-week-old male Sprague-Dawley rats were used for in vivo experiments. Various data prepared from the Micro-CT analysis showed results showing that more new bone was formed in the test group than in the control group. Similar results were shown in histological analysis. Thus, titanium screw, treated with atmospheric-pressure plasma, could induce high hard tissue differentiation even at the in vivo level. Racemic 8-[2-(2-pentyl-cyclopropylmethyl)-cyclopropyl]-octanoic acid (DCP-LA), a linoleic acid derivative with cyclopropane rings instead of cis-double bonds, contains possible four diastereomers such as α,α-, α,β-, β,α-, and β,β-DCP-LA. The present study examined the effect of racemic and diastereomeric DCP-LA on age-related learning and memory disorders using accelerated-senescence-prone mice 8 (SAMP8) and accelerated-senescence-resistant mice 1 (SAMR1). In the water maze test, the acquisition and retention latencies for SAMP8 mice were significantly longer than the latency for SAMR1 mice, indicating spatial learning and memory impairment for SAMP8 mice. All the racemic (1?mg/kg, per os) and diastereomeric DCP-LA (0.25?mg/kg, per os) significantly shortened the acquisition latency for SAMP8 mice, and racemic, α,α- and α,β-DCP-LA significantly shortened the retention latency, with the advantage greater than the acetylcholine (ACh) esterase inhibitor galanthamine. The results of the present study show that all the racemic and diastereomeric DCP-LA, has the potential to improve age-related learning and memory deterioration, the potential varying among them. 相似文献

Structural analogues of leukotriene B4 (LTB4) were designed based on the plausible conformation of LTB4 (1). Joining C-7-C-9 of the conformer A or B into an aromatic ring system led to the discovery of benzene analogues 2, 4 and 6a. Joining C-4-C-9 of the conformer C or D into an aromatic ring system led to the discovery of analogues 3, 5 and 7. The compounds examined in this study were evaluated as to their inhibition of [3H] LTB4 binding to human neutrophils, and by a secondary intact human neutrophil functional assay for agonist/antagonist activity. The first analogues prepared, compounds 2-7, demonstrated moderate potency in the LTB4 receptor binding assay. The modification of these compounds by the introduction of another substituent into the aromatic ring produced a marked increase in receptor binding (28c, IC50 = 0.020 microM; 38c, IC50 = 0.020 microM; 52a, IC50 = 0.020 microM; 52b, IC50 = 0.018 microM). Most of these structural analogues of LTB4 demonstrated agonist activity. Of the analogues prepared in this study, only compound 57 demonstrated weak LTB4 receptor antagonist activity, at 10 microM. 相似文献
