The method has been developed to improve the bitumen product which incorporates an evaporator concentrate from a BWR, with respect to the swelling and leaching. The leachability of the product has been measured by the method recommended by the IAEA. The swelling of the product is successfully prevented by the addition of calcium chloride. The specimen containing the waste up to Wa/B (Weight ratio of Na2SO4 + CaCl2 and bitumen) = 60:40 shows no pronounced swelling, when it is immersed in water. The cumulative fractions of 137Cs and 60Co leached from a specimen which does not contain CaCl2 are 0.65 and 0.2 at the leaching time of 30 days. On the hand, the corresponding value at 100 days for the specimen with calcium chloride addition is 5 × 10?4 for 137Cs and 1 × 10?4 for 60Co. The coating of the specimen surface with a fresh bitumen (5 mm thickness) reduces the leachability further. These results indicate that this method is effective to improve the bitumen product incorporating BWR's evaporator concentrate.  相似文献

A novel sample extraction technique for polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and organochlorine pesticides (OCPs) analysis using microwave-heating device is developed. In this study, microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and steam distillation techniques were combined. Desorption of the anatytes from solid matrixes was accelerated with water vapor which was generated by microwave irradiation. A sample holder in a commercial microwave extraction cell kept the sample from direct contact with the organic solvent for analytes trapping during the treatment process. Therefore, relatively clean extracts were obtained with small amount of solvents. Without any cleanup steps, the obtained extract could be analyzed with gas chromatograph/mass spectrometers (GC/MS). Six PCB congeners (PCB15, 28, 70, 101, 180, 194, 209) and three OCPs (gamma-HCH, 4,4'-DDE, 4,4'-DDD) in two marine sediment samples (a sediment collected from a bay of Kyusyu Island, Japan, and a certified reference material NIST SRM1944) were analyzed by using this microwave-assisted steam distillation (MASD) technique and another extraction method (exhaustive steam distillation, MAE, and Soxhlet extraction); and comparisons of the results are shown in this report. Although recovery yields of highly chlorinated biphenyls (PCB180, 194, 209) and relatively polar OCPs (gamma-HCH, 4,4'-DDD) were low (30-60%) compared with other analytes (PCB15, 28, 70, 101, 4,4'-DDE; recovery, 80-100%), use of isotope labeled internal standards for the MASD technique gave comparable results with the values obtained by other extraction methods and the certified values in the samples.  相似文献

Electronic devices and their highly integrated components formed from semiconductor crystals contain complex three-dimensional (3D) arrangements of elements and wiring. Photonic crystals, being analogous to semiconductor crystals, are expected to require a 3D structure to form successful optoelectronic devices. Here, we report a novel fabrication technology for a semiconductor 3D photonic crystal by uniting integrated circuit processing technology with micromanipulation. Four- to twenty-layered (five periods) crystals, including one with a controlled defect, for infrared wavelengths of 3-4.5 microm, were integrated at predetermined positions on a chip (structural error <50 nm). Numerical calculations revealed that a transmission peak observed at the upper frequency edge of the bandgap originated from the excitation of a resonant guided mode in the defective layers. Despite their importance, detailed discussions on the defective modes of 3D photonic crystals for such short wavelengths have not been reported before. This technology offers great potential for the production of optical wavelength photonic crystal devices.  相似文献

Lead-free commercial products have been dramatically increasing in the world markets as the restriction of certain hazardous substances (RoHS) directive in the European Union has been enacted. At the same time, the problem of “tin whiskers” has become one of the most serious problems in the industry. Growth of tin whiskers is believed to be related to residual stress inside the tin plating film and external compressive stress. Whiskers in fine-pitch connectors have affected the practical production of advanced digital equipment. The Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association (JEITA) has proposed a new testing method to evaluate tin whiskers, especially for the fine-pitch connectors. This paper describes the microstructures of external stress whiskers and the mechanical indentation test method.  相似文献

A polarization-insensitive monolithic 40-Gbps semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA)-Mach-Zehnder interferometer wavelength converter has been developed. Based on the photon-electron rate equation, we optimized the dimensions of the waveguide structure to maximize the field confinement in the active layer. An InGaAsP active layer with narrow SOA waveguide effectively enables polarization-insensitive high-speed wavelength conversion. High-precision wafer processing technique enabled the fabrication of submicrometer-wide active waveguides with low current leakage. Input waveguide arrays were fabricated at intervals of 25 mum and mounted in a module with two-lens aspherical lens optics. The 40-Gbps nonreturn-to-zero wavelength conversion experiment demonstrates a clear eye opening over full C-band operation  相似文献

In image classification based on bag of visual words framework, image patches used for creating image representations affect the classification performance significantly. However, currently, patches are sampled mainly based on processing low-level image information or just extracted regularly or randomly. These methods are not effective, because patches extracted through these approaches are not necessarily discriminative for image categorization. In this paper, we propose to utilize both bottom-up information through processing low-level image information and top-down information through exploring statistical properties of training image grids to extract image patches. In the proposed work, an input image is divided into regular grids, each of which is evaluated based on its bottom-up information and/or top-down information. Subsequently, every grid is assigned a saliency value based on its evaluation result, so that a saliency map can be created for the image. Finally, patch sampling from the input image is performed on the basis of the obtained saliency map. Furthermore, we propose a method to fuse these two kinds of information. The proposed methods are evaluated on both object categories and scene categories. Experiment results demonstrate their effectiveness.  相似文献
