The analysis of X-ray diffraction line profile broadening reveals the relationship between lattice microstrain and crystallite size for some microcrystalline quartz in natural quartzose rocks which crystallized slowly and statically. The mean microstrain of quartz microcrystallites increases proportionally with the reciprocal of the crystallite size and its magnitude reaches 0.18% (1.8×10−3) for crystallites ∼43 nm in diameter. This large lattice microstrain is ascribed to the internal pressure derived from the surface energy of the quartz microcrystallite.  相似文献

Polyacrylonitrile-g-poly(N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) was synthesized photochemically and quaternized. The positively charged membranes made from the quaternized graftcopolymer showed high ultrafiltration rate for water by adding poly(vinyl alcohol) to casting solution and washing it out after the casting. In buffered saline solution, the permeability of the membranes was very small at pH below isoelectric point of albumin but increased markedly at higher pH. On the other hand, the permeability for γ-globulin was very small and did not show any pH dependence.  相似文献

Summary The bulk polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) with 1,2-disubstituted tetraphenylethanes, tetraphenylsuccinodinitrile (TPSN), tetra(p-methoxyphenyl)succinodinitrile (TMPSN), and pentaphenylethane (PPE), was investigated. These compounds were found to serve as thermal iniferters to induce living radical polymerization via a mechanism close to the model proposed previously (see Eq. 2). However, the living nature was not so high, because undesirable side reactions occurred. The oligomer with molecular weight of 2500 was isolated from the reaction mixture of MMA with TPSN, which was found to cause further polymerization of MMA. From the polymerization of styrene (St) with the polymers obtained by these iniferters, the block copolymers were produced.  相似文献

This study investigated the engine performance and emissions of a supercharged dual-fuel engine fueled by hydrogen-rich coke oven gas and ignited by a pilot amount of diesel fuel. The engine was tested for use as a cogeneration engine, so power output while maintaining a reasonable thermal efficiency was important. Experiments were carried out at a constant pilot injection pressure and pilot quantity for different fuel-air equivalence ratios and at various injection timings without and with exhaust gas recirculation (EGR). The experimental strategy was to optimize the injection timing to maximize engine power at different fuel-air equivalence ratios without knocking and within the limit of the maximum cylinder pressure. The engine was tested first without EGR condition up to the maximum possible fuel-air equivalence ratio of 0.65. A maximum indicated mean effective pressure (IMEP) of 1425 kPa and a thermal efficiency of 39% were obtained. However, the nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions were high. A simulated EGR up to 50% was then performed to obtain lower NOx emissions. The maximum reduction of NOx was 60% or more maintaining the similar levels of IMEP and thermal efficiency. Two-stage combustion was obtained; this is an indicator of maximum power output conditions and a precursor of knocking combustion.  相似文献

A compact sodium-cooled reactor is an important candidate as a fast breeder reactor (FBR) and has been investigated in the feasibility study of FBR cycle. Due to the compact sizing of the reactor vessel, gas entrainment at the free surface of sodium coolant becomes one of the significant issues for reactor design, and it is required to clarify the criterion of gas entrainment at free surface and the tolerance. In the present study, some visualization experiments were performed in a water-air system focusing on the gas entrainment due to surface vortex and its transient phenomena. Influences of horizontal velocity were clarified by the visualization. The gas entrainment due to the surface vortex occurs intermittently. Time trends of circulation and length of gas core for the intermittent surface vortices were measured by the particle image velocimetry and visualization. It was found that the gas core length extends with time delay to the increase of circulation around the vortex.  相似文献

A laboratory-scale prototype windowed internally circulating fluidized-bed reactor made of quartz sand and coal coke particles was investigated for steam gasification using concentrated Xe-light radiation as the energy source. The quartz sand was used as a chemically inert bed material for the fluidized bed, while the coal coke particles functioned as the reacting particles for the endothermic gasification reaction. The advantages of using quartz sand as the bed material for the directly irradiated gasification reactor are as follows: (1) The bed height is maintained at a constant level during the gasification. (2) The quartz sand functions as a thermal transfer/storage medium inside the reactor. The gasification performances such as the production rates of CO, H2, and CO2; carbon conversion; and light-to-chemical energy conversion were evaluated for the fluidized-bed reactor with a thermal transfer/storage medium (quartz sand). The effects of using the bed material (quartz sand) on the gasification performance are described in this paper.  相似文献

In this work, spark-induced breakdown spectroscopy (SIBS) was employed to investigate the mixing process of a hydrogen jet in a constant-volume vessel. The local fuel concentration of the hydrogen jet was measured at several locations, using a SIBS sensor. A high-speed camera was used to visualize spark discharge fluctuations, and hydrogen jet concentration measurements were conducted simultaneously. Spectrally resolved atomic emissions from the plasma generated by the spark plug were examined to determine the local equivalence ratio. Direct visualization of the spark discharge provided useful information about the influence of spark discharge characteristics related to the spark timing. Using the developed SIBS sensor, atomic emission spectra were obtained from hydrogen Hα at 656 nm and nitrogen N (I) at 501 nm. Comparison of the intensity peaks of atomic emissions from hydrogen and nitrogen allows the local hydrogen concentration in a measured volume to be determined, and hence also the local equivalence ratio. The measurement results demonstrate the local variation in the equivalence ratio throughout the jet and along its axis. From the results, the spatial structure of the hydrogen jet affects the hydrogen/nitrogen mixing and could be clarified with SIBS technique when the spark is discharged.  相似文献

Experiments were carried out to investigate the flow pattern, average void fraction, and pressure drop of an upward air‐water two‐phase flow in vertical tubes of 25‐mm inside diameter with wire coils of varying wire diameter, pitch, and number of coils in cross section. Five kinds of flow patterns—bubble, slug, churn, semiannular, and annular flow—were defined based on the observation of flow behavior in the experiments. At higher water flowrates, the bubble‐to‐slug transition occurred at lower air flowrates in tubes with wire coils than in smooth tubes. The average void fraction was found by using the drift flux model. Further, the experimental results of the friction pressure drop were compared with the Lockhart‐Martinelli correlation. As a result, a correlation with the constant C in Chisholm's equation was obtained as a function of the wire coil pitch‐to‐diameter ratio. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fluidized bed combustion is one of the advantageous technologies for coal and/or incineration firing especially with respect to the environmental protection of emissions, such as NOx/SOx. Bed material movement in such a fluidized bed has a prime importance in the heat transfer process. Thus, quantitative measurement of the bed material movement and the void fraction are indispensable for better understanding of the fluidized bed. In this investigation, neutron radiography is applied to visualize the bed material movement in a simulated fluidized bed heat exchanger installed with vertical tubes. Bubble behavior and void fraction profile are obtained by the image processing technique. Bubble movement is highly restrained by these vertical tubes, so that the bubbles rise up along the tube. The bubble diameter is well correlated by the modified Mori and Wen's correlation taking into account the pitch of the tube arrangement. The bubble rise velocity and void fraction are well correlated by applying the drift‐flux model. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The wave propagation experiments using Japanese geostationary satellites CS (20/30 GHz) and BSE (12/14 GHz) satellites have been performed at the Kashima earth station of the Radio Research Laboratories (RRL). Cumulative rain attenuation and cross-polarization discrimination (XPD) statistics are given for the period of three years at 11.7 GHz (vertical polarization) and for the period of four years at 19.5 GHz (circular polarization). It is shown that the yearly rainfall rate and attenuation distributions are well approximated by log-normal distributions, and the XPD distribution is well approximated by a normal distribution. Monthly and time-of-day variation of the attenuation and XPD distributions are presented. Duration statistics of attenuation and XPD are presented and characterized. Other characteristics in the wave propagation, such as effective path length, frequency dependence of attenuation, and joint statistics of attenuation and XPD are derived and discussed. Rainfall events are classified into three rainfall types, "stratus," "cumulus," and "others" using measurements of the radar reflectivity factor along the satellite-to-earth path, and the dependence of XPD characteristics on the rainfall type is also presented and discussed. Some prediction methods of calculating attenuation and XPD statistics are applied to the data obtained in these experiments and the predicted results are compared with the measured ones. It is found that some corrections are needed when the XPD statistics are predicted from the attenuation statistics using the theoretical relation between XPD and attenuation.  相似文献
