This work proposes an effective method for dispersion of zirconia suspension for dental block preparation and optimizes the cold isostatic pressing (CIP) pressure to improve the densification of slip-casted zirconia blocks. Two batches of 44 wt% zirconia suspension were prepared using distilled water in a pH 2 medium containing 0.5 wt% polyethyleneimine as dispersant. The first batch was sonicated for different durations (from 5 min to 30 min), and the second batch was dispersed through ball milling at rotational speeds of 200, 300, and 400 rpm for 60, 90, and 120 min. All suspensions were subjected to sedimentation test and particle size measurement. Results revealed that the optimum ultrasonication duration was 10 min, which yielded the smallest particle size of 133 nm. Ball milling at 300 rpm for 120 min achieved the maximum dispersion of particles, with an average size of 75 nm. Under the optimum conditions of ultrasonication duration, ball milling duration, and ball milling speed, the particle size decreased to 48 nm, which is close to the primary particle size. These dispersion techniques and parameters were selected for preparing a suspension to be consolidated into blocks through slip casting and were enhanced through CIP at pressure ranging from 100 MPa to 300 MPa. CIP compaction at 250 MPa significantly increased the shrinkage percentage of green zirconia blocks, with pore radius decreased to 18 nm. The density of zirconia pressed at 250 MPa and presintered at a low temperature of 950 °C was 59% of the theoretical density and was higher than that of commercial presintered blocks. Confronted with the contemporary challenges of maximising energy efficiency with minimal impact on the environment, the automotive industry has developed various technologies to tackle them. Most of these technologies, however, have wider implications on the tribological performance of the automotive engines due to resultant soot build-up. This paper reviews the effects that attempts by stakeholders to satisfy requirements for reduced fuel consumption, reduced emissions and extended service intervals have had on increasing soot levels to an extent that can lead to engine component failure. Three areas have been identified that have either not been explored or not widely explored in the study of automotive soot namely: numerical simulation and modelling of soot wear, soot effects on wear of actual engine components and the wear and friction performance of non-metallic materials used in internal combustion engines. The effect of time (1 and 4 h), pH (2.0 and 2.5) and temperature (80 and 90 °C) on yield and degree of esterification (DE) of durian rind pectin was investigated. The yield and DE of the extracted pectin ranged from 2.1 to 10.3% (w/w, based on dry weight of durian rind) and 45.6–64.8% respectively. Yield was significantly affected by time, temperature and pH, and interactions between temperature and pH, and heating time and pH. DE was significantly affected by heating time and pH, and interactive effects of temperature and pH, and heating time and pH. The extraction yield was not related to DE. By considering pectin yield and DE, the acid extraction of durian rind pectin at 80 °C, for 4 h and at pH 2.5 could be suitable. 相似文献

Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were prepared by bulk polymerization in acetonitrile using 2,4-dinitrophenol, acrylamide, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, and benzoyl peroxide, as the template, functional monomer, cross-linker, and initiator, respectively. The MIP membrane was prepared by hybridization of MIP particles with cellulose acetate (CA) and polystyrene (PS) after being ground and sieved. The prepared MIP membrane was characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The parameters studied for the removal of 2,4-dinitrophenol included the effect of pH, sorption kinetics, and the selectivity of the MIP membrane. Maximum sorption of 2,4-nitrophenol by the fabricated CA membrane with MIP (CA-MIP) and the PS membrane with MIP (PS-MIP) was observed at pH 7.0 and pH 5.0, respectively. The sorption of 2,4-dinitrophenol by CA-MIP and PS-MIP followed a pseudo–second-order kinetic model. For a selectivity study, 2,4-dichlorophenol, 3-chlorophenol, and phenol were selected as potential interferences. The sorption capability of CA-MIP and PS-MIP towards 2,4-dinitrophenol was observed to be higher than that of 2,4-dichlorophenol, 3-chlorophenol, or phenol. 相似文献

This work describes the effect of a repetitive cooking-chilling process on resistant starch content in crackers prepared from a mixture of fish and starch, which are popularly known in Malaysia as “keropok.” Three fish cracker formulations were prepared using tapioca, wheat, and sago starch. Up to four cycles of repetitive cooking-chilling increased the resistant starch content in all products; however, the hardness of chilled samples decreased, and their moisture content increased. For the fried samples, the texture became harder, the color turned darker, and linear expansion was reduced. The dried fish cracker samples prepared with sago starch yielded the highest resistant starch content. The results demonstrated that four cycles of repetitive cooking-chilling were able to enhance resistant starch in fish crackers. 相似文献

This research was focused on the production of polyunsaturated fatty acid concentrates from a farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) by‐product (i.e. belly muscle). The effect of different process variables (urea/fatty acids (FA) contents ratio, crystallisation time and temperature and stirring speed of the urea/FA mixture) on the lipid oxidation development during the urea complexation process was investigated. For this purpose, an experimental design (26 runs) following the response‐surface methodology was developed. As a result, peroxide value and TOTOX index showed to be dependent on the crystallisation time and temperature and the urea/FA ratio, while no influence of the crystallisation stirring speed was detected on both indices; additionally, polyene index was affected by the urea/FA ratio and its interaction with the crystallisation time. An optimised desirability score near 1.0 was attained provided values of 2.8 °C, 3.05 h and 3.57 were applied for crystallisation temperature, crystallisation time and urea/FA ratio, respectively. 相似文献

We define two non-dimensional parameters and where τw is the wall stress, px(?0) is the pressure gradient to which the turbulent boundary layer (of thickness δ) is subjected, ν is the kinematic viscosity, is a characteristic velocity and p is the density. The limit corresponding to the strong adverse pressure gradient is formulated as Λ → 0, Rp → ∞, ΛRp finite. Using appropriate inner and outer asympcotic expansions, both above a wall layer possibly scaling with τw and ν, it is found by an application of Millikan's argument that there is an inertial sublayer where the streamwise velocity distribution obeys a half-power law, whose slope depends on Λ, and intercept on ΛRp. Indeed comparison with available experimental data shows the inner law to be well represented by .
