The concept of user-centred systems design (UCSD) has no agreed upon definition. Consequently, there is a great variety in the ways it is applied, which may lead to poor quality and poor usability in the resulting systems, as well as misconceptions about the effectiveness of UCSD. The purpose of this paper is to propose a definition of UCSD. We have identified 12 key principles for the adoption of a user-centred development process, principles that are based on existing theory, as well as research in and experiences from a large number of software development projects. The initial set of principles were applied and evaluated in a case study and modified accordingly. These principles can be used to communicate the nature of UCSD, evaluate a development process or develop systems development processes that support a user-centred approach. We also suggest activity lists and some tools for applying UCSD.  相似文献

As a part of on-going research on phase transformations during the deformation of light alloys, the effect of silicon excess on the extrudability and mechanical properties of the standard AlMgSi1 alloy within AA6082 alloy is investigated in this study. The AlMgSi1 alloy and three experimental aluminum alloys with a silicon content of 1.98%, 3.73% and 5.51% were direct-chilled cast into billets 95 mm in diameter, homogenized at 540 °C for 4 h and extruded into 12 mm diameter rods at different extrusion speeds. The results showed that an increase in the silicon content reduced the extrudability of the AlMgSi1 alloy by lowering the limiting extrusion speed. However, the extruded alloys with 3.73% and 5.51% silicon, generally characterized by a fine grained microstructure, exhibited higher strength levels compared with the 1.98% silicon alloy. Nonetheless, the mechanical properties of these alloys, in the T6 temper condition, were below those of the AlMgSi1 base alloy.  相似文献

Silicon feedstock for production of solar-grade silicon should be as pure as possible to decrease the cost of manufacturing of solar cells. Impurities in quartz, carbonaceous materials, electrodes, and refractories are mostly present in the form of oxides. These oxides can be reduced to volatile gaseous compounds in presence of SiO(g) and CO(g) atmosphere and potentially leave the furnace or stay in the condensed reaction products, metal, and slag. This work investigates the conditions under which volatile impurities report to the gas phase in laboratory experiments with lumpy and pelletized mixtures of SiO2, SiC, and Si at 1923 K and 2123 K (1650 °C and 1850 °C), respectively, were carried out. The volatile compounds were generated by the reduction of quartz and collected in the form of condensate. The effects of the reaction temperature, quartz type, charge composition, pellets, and lumps on the composition of the condensate were studied. The trace elements in the charge input, reacting charge, and condensate were analyzed using inductively coupled plasma (ICP)-mass spectroscopy (MS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). CO(g) and SiO(g), which are the major components in reduction reactions, formed four types of condensate: white, brown, green, and orange. The condensate constituents were amorphous SiO2, 3C:SiC, Si, and α-quartz. Each impurity present in the quartz charge entered the gas phase during quartz reduction and was detected in the condensate. Al and Fe show limited volatility. The volatility of Mn, P, and B depends on the charge mix: a higher PCO enhances the concentration of these elements in the gas phase. Fluid inclusions, common in hydrothermal quartz, enhance the distribution of the contaminants to the gas phase. Industrial campaigns on Si and Fe-Si production confirm the experimental results.  相似文献

Genetic fine mapping can be performed by exploiting the notion that haplotypes that are structurally similar in the neighbourhood of a disease predisposing locus are more likely to harbour the same susceptibility allele. Within the framework of Generalized Linear Mixed Models this can be formalized using spatial smoothing models, i.e. inducing a covariance structure for the haplotype risk parameters, such that risks associated with structurally similar haplotypes are dependent. In a Bayesian procedure a local similarity measure is calculated for each update of the presumed disease locus. Thus, the disease locus is searched as the place where the similarity structure produces risk parameters that can best discriminate between cases and controls.From a population genetic perspective the use of an identity-by-descent based similarity metric is theoretically motivated. This approach is then compared to other more intuitively motivated models and other similarity measures based on identity-by-state, suggested in the literature.  相似文献

Biological ammonium oxidation was carried out in two inverse turbulent bed reactors fed with synthetic mineral wastewater containing a high ammonium concentration (100 mg N-NH4+/L). Both reactors were started-up and operated in the same conditions except for the solid carrier concentration: the solid hold-up ratios applied, defined as the ratios of static to expanded bed height, were 0.1 and 0.3 in reactors R10 and R30 respectively. These two solid hold-up ratios generate different particle-to-particle collision frequencies and, therefore, detachment forces. The influence of solid hold-up on biofilm growth and nitrifying performance was studied from a macroscopic (i.e. nitrate and/or nitrite production) and microbiological point of view. After 60 days of operation, both reactors contained the same amount of biomass. However, R10 produced only nitrate while nitrite accumulated in R30. A comparison of microbial populations in the reactors showed that R10 contained both ammonium and nitrite oxidizing populations such as Nitrosomonas and Nitrospira, whereas in R30, ammonium oxidizing populations were much greater than those of nitrite oxidizers. The major ammonium-oxidizing organism was not the same in both reactors.  相似文献

We investigated, using questionnaires, different strategies for removing drivers’ overoptimism (Svenson et al., 2012a) about how fast their speed could be decreased when they were speeding compared with braking at the speed limit speed. Three different learning groups and a control group made collision speed judgments. The first learning group had the distance a car travels during a driver's reaction time for each problem. The second group had this information and also feedback after each judgment (correct speed). The third group judged collision speed but also braking distance and received correct facts after each problem. The control group had no information at all about reaction time and the distance traveled during that time. The results suggested the following rank order from poor to improved performance: control, group 1, group 3 and group 2 indicating that information about distance driven during a driver's reaction time improved collision speed judgments and that adding stopping distance information did not add to this improvement.  相似文献
