Angiographic and computed tomographic correlation in cerebral venous angiomas

Venous angioma of the brain is a rare congenital vascular anomaly. In the last few years there have been several reports on the angiographic appearance of this lesion, but very little has been written about the findings on computed tomography (CT). Angiographically, the arterial phase is normal, while the capillary phase might demonstrate a blush. The major abnormality is the venous phase, where multiple dilated medullary veins converge centrally into a large drainage vein. The two cases presented here correlate the angiographic and CT appearances. It is felt that, with a knowledge of these findings, an accurate diagnosis of this condition can usually be reached.     

Effects of contingency-contracting and decision-making groups with chronic mental patients.

Placed 74 29-74 yr. old institutionalized male mental patients in 1 of 3 treatment conditions for a 4-mo period. Ss in the milieu condition received the customary hospital treatment; Ss in the interaction condition received the same treatment as the milieu condition but received 2 hr. additional weekly group therapy; Ss in the incentive condition were placed in groups responsible for making decisions concerning group members. Ss in the incentive condition were rewarded with funds and canteen books contingent upon recommendations from the groups and attendance of Ss in each group at all activities. Results show the incentive condition as superior on percentage of attendance at activities, town passes taken, and days spent out of the hospital, while the interaction condition was superior on nurses' rating scales. Electronic music synthesis is a process whereby several parts or elements of a musical composition that are performed or produced as separate entities are combined to form the entire or rendered composition. Since the entire process can seldom be carried out in real time, the synthesis of music has not been a performing-type rendition; therefore, the final product takes the form of a record that can be reproduced at any given time. Electronic music synthesis includes the modification and combination of conventional and original sound sources, manual and programmed electronic music synthesizers, and digital computers.
