Greenhouse technology is a practical option for the production and drying of agricultural products in controlled environment. For the successful design of a greenhouse, the selection of a suitable shape and orientation is of great importance. Of various shapes of greenhouses, the even-span roof and the Quonset shape greenhouses are the most commonly used for crop cultivation and drying. The orientation of greenhouses is kept east–west for maximum utilization of solar radiations. Hybrid and modified greenhouse dryers have been proposed for drying of products. The agricultural products dried in greenhouses are found to be better in quality as compared to open sun drying because they are protected from dust, rain, insects, birds and animals. Moreover, various greenhouses shapes along with their applications have been reviewed.  相似文献

Asymmetric patchy Ag/Cu Janus nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized via a “seed-mediated” approach. This is the first report of synthesis of nanometer sized metal-based Janus NPs without using complicated methods. Selective adsorption of the surfactant onto the seed NPs leads to the formation of Janus type structure. Subsequently the reduction potential of Ag+/Ag0 and Cu2+/Cu0 systems directs the formation of the “patch”. The patchy Janus NPs show significant antifungal activity towards a potent rice pathogen thus offering the prospect of future application in crop protection.  相似文献

Spoken language is one of the distinctive characteristics of the human race. Spoken language processing is a branch of computer science that plays an important role in human–computer interaction (HCI), which has made remarkable advancement in the last two decades. This paper reviews and summarizes the acoustic, phonetic and prosody features that have been used for spoken language identification specifically for Indian languages. Incremental sheet forming process has been proved to be quiet suitable and economical for job and batch type production, which exempts expensive and complex tooling for sheet forming. Investigation of forming forces becomes important for selecting the appropriate hardware and optimal process parameters in order to assure perfection and precision of process. Moreover, lack of available knowledge regarding the process parameters makes the process limited for industrial applications. This research paper aims at finding out effects of different input factors on forming forces in single-point incremental forming (SPIF) process. For operation sustainability and hardware safety, it becomes critical to optimize forming forces for a given set of factors to form a particular shape. In this study, optimization of input factors has been performed to produce conical frustums with helical tool path using Taguchi analysis as design of experiment (DOE) and analysis of variance (ANOVA). The optimal experimental conditions for forming forces have been calculated as sheet thickness (0.8 mm), step size (0.2 mm), tool diameter (7.52 mm), tool shape (hemispherical), spindle speed (1000 rpm), feed rate (1000 mm/min) and wall angle (50o). Effects of tool shape and viscosity of lubricants have also been investigated. An intensive understanding of the mechanism of forming forces has been presented, which shows that force trend after peak values depends upon instant input factors that can be categorized as a safe, severe and crucial set of parameters.  相似文献

The go-green concept results in multipoint focus towards materials made from nature; easily decomposable and recyclable polymeric materials and their composites along with natural fibres ignited the manufacturing sectors to go for higher altitudes in engineering industries. This is due to the health hazard and environmental problems faced in manufacturing and disposal of synthetic fibres. This study was undertaken to analyse the suitability of new natural fibre as an alternative reinforcement for composite materials. In this paper, tensile, flexural and impact test is made for the woven alovera and kenaf (AK), sisal and kenaf (SK), alovera, sisal and kenaf fibre hybrid epoxy composites (ASK). The composite laminates are made through a hand-layup process. The surface analysis is studied through scanning electron microscopy. From the investigation the SK hybrid composite shows good tensile property, AK hybrid composite shows better flexural property and the best impact strength is observed for ASK hybrid composite. The natural fibres slowly replace the synthetic fibres from its environmental impact, marching towards a revolution in engineering materials.  相似文献

An approach for determining fracture toughness of materials using miniature chevron‐notched specimens is reported here for the first time. An outline of the principle and the experimental procedure for the test is depicted using results generated on eutectoid steel. Fracture toughness values of soft annealed and fully annealed eutectoid steels with inter‐lamellar spacing 167 nm and 549 nm are found to be 76 and 56 , respectively. The estimated fracture toughness values from miniature specimens are found to be in good agreement with the ones reported for similar bulk materials.  相似文献

In this paper, Bernstein polynomials have been used to derive an explicit formula for the coefficients of linear phase FIR notch filters which are maximally flat at ω=0 and π. ABSTRACT

Studies on seasonal variation in oil and fatty acid profile of developing solid endosperm of two cultivars, West Coast Tall (WCT) and Chowghat Orange Dwarf (COD), and their hybrids indicated that oil percentage increased from 30% in 6‐month‐old nuts to 63% in matured nuts (12 months old). Nuts sampled during July from different levels of maturity had high oil percentage and followed by those sampled during April, October and January. During nut development to maturity, the percentages and contents of medium and long chain saturated fatty acids increased except that of palmitic and myristic acids. Concentration of long chain unsaturated fatty acids (LCUFAs) in developing coconut kernel were high at 5 and 6 months after fertilization and then decreased toward maturity. The LCUFAs were high in nuts developing during October; consequently, saturated to unsaturated fatty acid ratios were low during October. Results indicated that nuts matured during October had better nutritional quality for human consumption and those matured during January are more suitable for industrial purpose due to higher medium chain fatty acid concentrations.

PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS

Coconut is consumed either as the tender nut (5–6 months after fertilization) or as the kernel from mature nut (12 months after fertilization). Recent technologies of making snowball tender nut use the nuts aged 7–8 months old. Kernel also is consumed in this product. Apart from this, the coconut is being increasingly used for making different kernel‐based value‐added products. This information is useful, as the value‐added products are being developed using different maturities of coconut. Hence, it is of paramount importance that the fatty acid profile of coconut kernel is known in detail for assessing the safety of food consumption from the human health point of view. Apart from this, information on the seasonal variation in fatty acid profile of developing endosperm gives an integrated knowledge so as to optimize the usage of coconut kernel for both human consumption and industrial exploitation.

Toned dairy milk and soy milk were mixed in different proportions and coagulated at various temperatures to produce paneer blends, and their textural properties were evaluated. As the soy milk proportion in the blend increased from 0% to 50%, hardness, cohesiveness and chewiness of the samples decreased initially, but further increase in the blend from 50% to 100% cause these values to increase slightly. The proportion of soymilk in the prepared paneer had a significant effect on hardness, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, chewiness and yield, whereas the coagulation temperature affected cohesiveness and yield. The process parameters did not show any effect on the springiness.  相似文献
