Automatic ultrasound (US) image segmentation is a difficult task due to the quantity of noise present in the images and the lack of information in several zones produced by the acquisition conditions. In this paper, we propose a method that combines shape priors and image information to achieve this task. In particular, we introduce knowledge about the rib-eye shape using a set of images manually segmented by experts. A method is proposed for the automatic segmentation of new samples in which a closed curve is fitted taking into account both the US image information and the geodesic distance between the evolving curve and the estimated mean rib-eye shape in a shape space. This method can be used to solve similar problems that arise when dealing with US images in other fields. The method was successfully tested over a database composed of 610 US images, for which we have the manual segmentations of two experts.  相似文献

This work studies the problem of recovering a complex signal (source) from an underdetermined linear mixture of bounded sources. We assume some a priori information of the desired signal in the form of a training sequence and complete absence of knowledge from the other sources, except for their bounded character. The main contribution of this letter is the proposal of a bounded component analysis of the training error that tries to condense the relevant information of the observations in a linear estimate of the desired signal. This subspace can be later used for subsequent refined estimation of the signal of interest. Simulations corroborate the good performance of the proposed method in high SNR scenarios.  相似文献

GPS-equipped taxis can be considered as pervasive sensors and the large-scale digital traces produced allow us to reveal many hidden facts about the city dynamics and human behaviors. In this paper we present a novel GPS-based taxi system which can detect ongoing anomalous passenger delivery behaviors leveraging our proposed iBOAT method. To achieve real time monitoring, we reduce the response time of iBOAT by more than five times with an inverted index mechanism adopted. We evaluate the effectiveness of the system with large scale real life taxi GPS records while serving 200,000 taxis. With this system, we obtain about 0.44 million anomalous trajectories out of 7.35 million taxi delivery trips, which correspond to 7600 taxis’ GPS records in one month time in the city of Hangzhou, China. Through further analysis of these anomalous trajectories, we observe that: (1) Over 60 % of the anomalous trajectories are “detours” that travel longer distances and time than normal trajectories; (2) The average trip length of drivers with high-detour tendency is 20 % longer than that of normal drivers; (3) The length of anomalous sub-trajectories is usually less than a third of the entire trip, and they tend to begin in the first two thirds of the journey; (4) Although longer distance results in a greater taxi fare, a higher tendency to take anomalous detours does not result in higher monthly revenue; and (5) Taxis with a higher income usually spend less time finding new passengers and deliver them in faster speed.  相似文献

Network virtualization opens the door to novel infrastructure services offering connectivity and node manageability. In this letter, we focus on the cost‐efficient embedding of on‐demand virtual optical network requests for interconnecting geographically distributed data centers. We present a mixed integer linear programming formulation that introduces flexibility in the virtual‐physical node mapping to optimize the usage of the underlying physical resources. Illustrative results show that flexibility in the node mapping can reduce the number of add‐drop ports required to serve the offered demands by 40%.  相似文献

State-of-the-art devices in the consumer electronics market are relying more and more on Multi-Processor Systems-On-Chip (MPSoCs) as an efficient solution to meet their multiple design constrains, such as low cost, low power consumption, high performance and short time-to-market. In fact, as technology scales down, logic density and power density increase, generating hot spots that seriously affect the MPSoC performance and can physically damage the final system behavior. Moreover, forthcoming three-dimensional (3D) MPSoCs can achieve higher system integration density, but the aforementioned thermal problems are seriously aggravated. Thus, new thermal exploration tools are needed to study the temperature variation effects inside 3D MPSoCs. In this paper, we present a novel approach for fast transient thermal modeling and analysis of 3D MPSoCs with active (liquid) cooling solutions, while capturing the hardware-software interaction. In order to preserve both accuracy and speed, we propose a close-loop framework that combines the use of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to emulate the hardware components of 2D/3D MPSoC platforms with a highly optimized thermal simulator, which uses an RC-based linear thermal model to analyze the liquid flow. The proposed framework offers speed-ups of more than three orders of magnitude when compared to cycle-accurate 3D MPSoC thermal simulators. Thus, this approach enables MPSoC designers to validate different hardware- and software-based 3D thermal management policies in real-time, and while running real-life applications, including liquid cooling injection control.  相似文献

We consider the problem of joint congestion control and resource allocation in spatial-TDMA wireless networks. The design problem is posed as a utility maximization problem subject to link rate constraints which involve both transmission scheduling and power allocation. Starting from the performance limitations of a centralized optimization based on global network information, we proceed systematically in our development of two distributed and transparent protocols that rely on local information only. In the process, we introduce a novel decomposition method for convex optimization, establish its convergence for the utility maximization problem, and demonstrate how it suggests a distributed solution based on TCP/AQM and incremental updates of the transmission schedule. We develop a two-step procedure for finding the schedule updates and suggest two schemes for distributed link scheduling and power control under realistic interference models. Although the final protocols are suboptimal, we isolate and quantify the performance losses incurred by each simplification and demonstrate strong performance in examples.

This paper discusses results from research related to the use of television as a device that supports social interaction between close-knit groups in settings that include more than two locations, each location being potentially equipped with more than one camera. The paper introduces the notion of a framing experience, as a specific scenario or situation within which social communication takes place. It reports on the evaluation of some of the key attributes of social communication through semi-structured interviews, with 16 families across four European countries. The inferences drawn from this study are reduced to four system capabilities including the ability to support: excitement, engagement and entertainment; high quality, reliable audiovisual communications; flexibility and adaptability sufficient to support the unpredictable and reactive nature of human interaction and discourse. These system requirements are, in turn, reduced to a number of technology challenges which if solved will help enable effective social communications between groups, mediated by the television. These technology challenges include: high quality reliable audio visual communication; interaction orchestration, multimedia interpretation and multimedia composition. Finally the paper reflects on the impact the use of framing experiences, such as those described here, could have on strategy and policy for service providers and regulators.  相似文献

A wavelet-based ECG delineator: evaluation on standard databases   总被引:14,自引:0,他引:14  
In this paper, we developed and evaluated a robust single-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) delineation system based on the wavelet transform (WT). In a first step, QRS complexes are detected. Then, each QRS is delineated by detecting and identifying the peaks of the individual waves, as well as the complex onset and end. Finally, the determination of P and T wave peaks, onsets and ends is performed. We evaluated the algorithm on several manually annotated databases, such as MIT-BIH Arrhythmia, QT, European ST-T and CSE databases, developed for validation purposes. The QRS detector obtained a sensitivity of Se = 99.66% and a positive predictivity of P+ = 99.56% over the first lead of the validation databases (more than 980,000 beats), while for the well-known MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database, Se and P+ over 99.8% were attained. As for the delineation of the ECG waves, the mean and standard deviation of the differences between the automatic and manual annotations were computed. The mean error obtained with the WT approach was found not to exceed one sampling interval, while the standard deviations were around the accepted tolerances between expert physicians, outperforming the results of other well known algorithms, especially in determining the end of T wave.  相似文献
