A novel electrically conductive composite for NTC thermistor and piezoresistive sensor was successfully fabricated by homogeneously dispersing conductive SiC and B4C in an insulating natural rubber (NR) matrix. The morphology of the composites was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy, cross linking density (n), volume fraction of rubber (Vr), and interparticle distance among conductive phases (rp). The influence of the filler concentrations on the mechanical properties such as modulus of elasticity (E); hardness shore A (H), and elongation at break (EB) were studied in details. The dependences of volume resistivity of NR based composites filled with B4C and SiC as a function of fillers concentration was investigated. Temperature dependencies of volume resistivity were also measured to examine the possible application of the composites to polymer linear negative temperature (NTC) thermistors. Furthermore, the temperature dependencies of dielectric constant of the composites were studied. For practical application, the thermal stability of the composites was examined by means of resistivity temperature and pressure hysteresis cycle. In parallel, the conduction mechanism of conductivity of the composites was interpreted in terms of the computed the activation and hopping energy. The applicability of the composites to piezoresistive sensor was examined too. The good mechanical properties and thermal stability of NR composites behavior can be utilized for fabricating various electronic devices as NTC thermistors and piezoresistive sensor (i.e. transducers in pressure sensors). Double-layered gels, consisting of hydroxyethylcellulose cryogel core and poly(ethylene oxide) hydrogel shell, were synthesized with u.v. irradiation, using the same photoinitiator, (4-benzoylbenzyl) trimethylammoniumchloride (BBTMAC) for the both layers. The gels were characterized by measuring their rheological parameters, gel fraction yield, the degree of equilibrium swelling and diffusion coefficient. The diffusion coefficients for glucose and ethanol through the hydroxyethylcellulose cryogel were 3.9 × 10?6 cm2/s and 0.97 × 10?5 cm2/s, respectively. The applicability of these double-layered gels as carriers for immobilization was investigated by entrapment of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells. The immobilization efficiency and cell retention were determined in batch fermentation for ethanol production from glucose. The operational stability of the gels was evaluated in batch fermentation with three consecutive runs. The ethanol yield was in the range from 60% to 77% of the theoretical yield.  相似文献

Human endometrium is an object of extensive restructuring and remodeling during the female reproductive life and it is quite tempting to assume that these periodic changes happen with the participation of cells that should have the basic characteristics of multipotent cells. The aim of this study was to search for the presence of cells with plastic adherence, clonogenicity, and differentiation in human endometrium. To this end, human endometrial stromal cells were cultured in vitro for more than 15 passages. Flow cytometry analysis of the cultured cells showed that they were positive for CD29, CD73 and CD90, which are considered to be the markers of cells with mesenchymal origin. The cells were negative for the hematopoietic cell markers (CD45, CD34, CD14, CD3, CD19, CD16/56, and HLA-DR). Further, it was shown that the cultured cells had 15% clonogenic efficiency and could be induced to differentiate into adipogenic cells containing typical lipid-rich vacuoles. These results demonstrate that the human endometrium contains a low number of cells with the characteristics of endometrial stromal stem/progenitor cells, which seem to belong to the family of the mesenchymal stem cells. It can be speculated that these cells are engaged into the monthly restructuring and remodeling of human endometrium.  相似文献

Because a study of the results reported for the chain dimensions of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), critical for the onset of this polymer's non-Newtonian flow behavior, obtained from the viscosity-molecular weight relationships available from the literature, clearly revealed that considerable differences exist between the reported data, a detailed analysis of these data was performed together with an additional examination of 10 new PDMS samples that were selected so as to have molecular weights that would fill the gaps observed in the polymer viscosity–chain length relationship constructed from the accepted literature data. The results obtained were analyzed by using several different procedures integrated into a recently described comparative method that could allow for determination of what is called the most realistic critical value, Zwc. The latter was determined as 930 PDMS main-chain atoms, which corresponds to this polymer's degree of polymerization of 464.5 and the weight-average molecular weight of 34,500. It is not only shown that after elimination of some clearly erroneous data points from the previously reported relationships the obtained critical chain-length values could very well fit the earlier relationships, but also that appropriate “master” relationships were constructed including 48 pairs of the old and 10 pairs of the new data points. It is suggested that this relationship be accepted as the best-fit viscosity–polymer chain-length dependence for PDMS, and it is pointed out that the obtained PDMS critical chain-length value ranks this polymer's macromolecules as the most flexible of the corresponding long-chain molecules presently known. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The insecticidal effectiveness of two natural zeolite formulations (Minazel plus and Minazel), applied to wheat at selected rates of 0.25, 0.50 and 0.75 g/kg, and a diatomaceous earth formulation (DE) (Protect-It™), applied at the recommended rates of 0.15 g/kg for Sitophilus oryzae, 0.20 g/kg for Rhyzopertha dominica and 0.30 g/kg for Tribolium castaneum, were tested under laboratory conditions (24 ± 1 °C temperature and 45 ± 5% relative humidity). The highest adult mortality was observed after the longest exposure period of 21 days and 7 days of recovery, when all three zeolite dosage rates and the recommended DE dosage caused 97-100% mortality of S. oryzae and 94-100% of T. castaneum. On the other hand, 100% mortality was not achieved in any test variant involving R. dominica; the highest (about 92%) was detected for DE, while 52% and 79% mortality was achieved with the zeolites at the highest rate of 0.75 g/kg. Progeny reduction by >90% was achieved after 21 days of contact of all three beetle pests with DE-treated wheat, while the same level of reduction was achieved for S. oryzae and T. castaenum only after contact with the highest rate of the zeolite product, Minazel. Thus the two zeolite formulations are comparable to diatomaceous earth in controlling adult S. oryzae, R. dominica and T. castaneum, but only the Minazel formulation could effectively protect wheat from attack by S. oryzae or T. castaneum, and only with a higher rate of application than for the DE formulation.  相似文献

This study was focused on chemical characterisation of liverwort Scapania nemorea extracts and their antimicrobial activity against pathogenic and food-spoiling yeasts and bacteria. The chemical composition of three different extracts of the liverwort S. nemorea was determined by solid phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (SPME GC–MS). The dominant compounds in extracts were sesquiterpenes β-bazzanene (11%, 17.9% and 14.6%), isobazzanene (10.2%, 15.8% and 11.7%) and aromadendrene (8.8%, 12.9% and 10.6%) in the methanol, ethanol and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively. Antimicrobial potential of S. nemorea extracts against food spoiling yeasts and bacteria was determined in vitro by microdilution method. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) varied from 0.5 to 3 mg/mL for bacteria, and from 0.2 to 1 mg/mL for yeasts. Moreover, the combined effects of dry methanol extract of S. nemorea and heat processing on the survival and growth of a spoilage yeast in an apple/orange-based beverage, have been assessed through a Central Composite Design. Changes in color and flavor of the beverages were considered acceptable also after one week of storage at 25 °C. The results provide evidence of antimicrobial potential of S. nemorea extracts and suggest its potential as natural antimicrobial agent for food preservation.  相似文献

Since the industrial revolution, fashion and technology have been linked through the textile and manufacturing industries, a relationship that has propelled technical innovation and aesthetic and social change. Today, a new alliance is emerging through the integration of electronic technology and smart materials on the body. This study addresses the integration of technology with clothing from a fashion perspective, and examines its expressive and interactive potential. It proposes the concept of The Emotional Wardrobe: clothing that represents and stimulates emotional response through the interface of technology. It asks if fashion can offer a more personal and provocative definition of self, which actively involves the wearer in a mutable aesthetic identity. A multi-disciplinary framework combines fashion, material science and the real-time, affective computing platform, called AffectiveWare. By merging technology and fashion, The Emotional Wardrobe becomes a poetic interface, shifting emphasis from human–computer interaction to computer-aided, human–human communication.  相似文献
