During the design phase of a control chart, the determination of its exact run length properties plays a vital role for its optimal operation. Markov chain or integral equation methods have been extensively applied in the design phase of conventional control charts. However, for distribution-free schemes, due to the discrete nature of the statistics being used (such as the sign or the Wilcoxon signed rank statistics, for instance), it is impossible to accurately compute their run length properties. In this work, a modified distribution-free phase II exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA)-type chart based on the Wilcoxon signed rank statistic is considered and its exact run length properties are discussed. A continuous transformation of the Wilcoxon signed rank statistic, combined with the classical Markov chain method, is used for the determination of the average run length in the in- and out-of control cases. Moreover, its exact performance is derived without any knowledge of the distribution of sample observations. Finally, an illustrative example is provided showing the practical implementation of our proposed chart.  相似文献

An overview of monitoring schemes from a class called generally weighted moving average (GWMA) is provided. A GWMA scheme is an extended version of the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) scheme with an additional adjustment parameter that introduces more flexibility in the GWMA model as it adjusts the kurtosis of the weighting function so that the GWMA scheme can be designed such that it has an advantage over the corresponding EWMA scheme in the detection of certain shift values efficiently. The parametric and distribution-free GWMA schemes to monitor various quality characteristics and its existing enhanced versions (ie, double GWMA, composite Shewhart-GWMA, mixed GWMA-CUSUM, and mixed CUSUM-GWMA) have better performance than their corresponding EWMA counterparts in many situations; hence, all such existing research works discussing GWMA-related schemes (ie, 66 publications in total) are documented and categorized in such a manner that it is easy to identify research gaps. Finally, a number of possible future research ideas are provided.  相似文献

Although lexical frequencies are familiar measures of stylistic and thematic analysis, only recently have some stylostatisticians been tempted to investigate the relationship between the frequency and topography of repeated lexical items. In the present paper the authors have turned to the study of the four focal types of discursive narratology, using Marguerite Duras'Moderato Cantabile. Their intent is to uncover aspects of narratological performance which further elucidate the communicative strategies in the story. Part 1 summarizes the problematic between frequency and topography. It describes how a topographical index can be computed for any repeated item and how a Global Topography Index (GTI) can summarize the major topographical characteristics of any text sequence. Part 2 presents a four-cell typology of narrational mode: a segmentation of the verbal chain into narrating and narrated speech acts, with each text sequence tagged according to its discursive function: overt sender intervention for story coherence or comment on the focal level of a narrating present; representation of discrete or unlocalized events on the focal level of a mimeticized past. In Part 3 the focal encodings are displayed in numerical and graphic form, first according to the eight surface chapter divisions and then according to twenty-six subsets of approximately equal length. The fluctuations of the topography indices are reviewed, with particular attention being paid to the manifestation of cluster effects. Although sender interventions predominate, the relativized behavior of each focal type contributes to a climactic unraveling of the intrigue in the final chapters. In conclusion, the authors stress the dichotomy between the calm surface of the chapters and the agitated tensions of the twenty-six subsets.  相似文献

H2 and H control design methodologies are known to be efficient to deal with multivariable control problems. However, most of them do not take explicitly the parametric uncertainties into account. This paper proposes a low parametric sensitivity H2 control design method as an alternative to µ‐synthesis or robust H2 control design. In addition to the standard H2 criterion, the H2 norm of the parametric sensitivity function is introduced in order to improve the robustness of the resulting controller. Unfortunately, this problem is a difficult one. Its equivalence to structured feedback H2 control problem will be shown. The underlying BMI will be solved by making use of an iterative LMI procedure. This article presents a novel framework for adapting the behavior of intelligent agents. The framework consists of an extended sequential pattern mining algorithm that, in combination with association rule discovery techniques, is used to extract temporal patterns and relationships from the behavior of human agents executing a procedural task. The proposed framework has been integrated within the CanadarmTutor, an intelligent tutoring agent aimed at helping students solve procedural problems that involve moving a robotic arm in a complex virtual environment. We present the results of an evaluation that demonstrates the benefits of this integration to agents acting in ill-defined domains.  相似文献

Virtual execution environments, such as the Java virtual machine, promote platform‐independent software development. However, when it comes to analyzing algorithm complexity and performance bottlenecks, available tools focus on platform‐specific metrics, such as the CPU time consumption on a particular system. Other drawbacks of many prevailing profiling tools are high overhead, significant measurement perturbation, as well as reduced portability of profiling tools, which are often implemented in platform‐dependent native code. This article presents a novel profiling approach, which is entirely based on program transformation techniques, in order to build a profiling data structure that provides calling‐context‐sensitive program execution statistics. We explore the use of platform‐independent profiling metrics in order to make the instrumentation entirely portable and to generate reproducible profiles. We implemented these ideas within a Java‐based profiling tool called JP. A significant novelty is that this tool achieves complete bytecode coverage by statically instrumenting the core runtime libraries and dynamically instrumenting the rest of the code. JP provides a small and flexible API to write customized profiling agents in pure Java, which are periodically activated to process the collected profiling information. Performance measurements point out that, despite the presence of dynamic instrumentation, JP causes significantly less overhead than a prevailing tool for the profiling of Java code. In this study, development of pea (Pisum sativum) protein stabilised dry and reconstituted emulsions is presented. Dry emulsions were prepared by spray-drying liquid emulsions in a laboratory spray-dryer. The effect of drying on the physical stability of oil-in-water emulsions containing pea protein-coated and pea protein/pectin-coated oil droplets has been studied. Oil-in-water emulsions (5 wt.% Miglyol 812 N, 0.25 wt.% pea protein, 11% maltodextrin, pH 2.4) were prepared that contained 0 (primary emulsion) or 0.2 wt.% pectin (secondary emulsion). The emulsions were then subjected to spray-drying and reconstitution (pH 2.4). The stability of the emulsions to dry processing was then analysed using oil droplet size, microstructure, Zeta potential, and creaming measurements. Obtained results showed that the secondary emulsions had better stability to droplet aggregation after drying than primary emulsions. To interpret these results, we propound that pectin, an anionic polysaccharide, formed a less charged protective layer around the protein interfacial film surrounding the oil droplets that improved their stability to spray-drying mainly by increasing steric effects.  相似文献
