To address the problem the sensors were typically deployed in fixed positions, but the robots can be used to calibrate, deploy and maintain the surrounding wireless sensor network (WSN) in disaster relief applications, a novel framework was proposed to obtain a wide coverage of the unknown environment by the sensors, which can help the robot during the disaster recovery activities, for the concurrent deployment and localization of a WSN by means of a mobile robot. During the mission, the robot explored an unknown environment, and was equipped with both proprioceptive sensors, range finders and wireless antennas. Moreover, the robot carried a set of nodes, and it can deploy them while exploring the unknown environment. Variou experimental results showd the proposed algorithm can outperform trilateration method in unknown environment exploration and network coverage problems.  相似文献

Particulate matter is a natural occurrence in the environment, but some industries, such as the iron ore sector, can raise the total amount of particles in the atmosphere. This industry is primarily a source of iron and sulfur dioxide particulates. The effects of the pollutants from the iron ore industries on representatives of restinga vegetation in a Brazilian coastal ecosystem were investigated using physiological and biochemical measures. Two species, Schinus terebinthifolius and Sophora tomentosa, were exposed to simulated deposition of acid mist and iron ore particulate matter in acrylic chambers in a greenhouse. Parameters such as gas exchange, fluorescence emission, chlorophyll content, total iron content, antioxidant enzyme activity and malondialdehyde content were assessed in order to evaluate the responses of the two species. Neither treatment was capable of inducing oxidative stress in S. terebinthifolius. Nevertheless, the deposition of iron ore particulates on this species increased chlorophyll content, the maximum quantum efficiency of photosystem II and the electron transport rate, while iron content was unaltered. On the other hand, S. tomentosa showed a greater sensitivity to the treatments. Plants of S. tomentosa that were exposed to acid mist had a decrease in photosynthesis, while the deposition of iron particulate matter led to an increase in iron content and membrane permeability of the leaves. The activities of antioxidant enzymes, such as catalases and superoxide dismutase, were enhanced by both treatments. The results suggested that the two restinga species use different strategies to overcome the stressful conditions created by the deposition of particulate matter, either solid or wet. It seems that while S. terebinthifolius avoided stress, S. tomentosa used antioxidant enzyme systems to partially neutralize oxidative stress. The findings also point to the potential use of S. tomentosa as a biomarker species under field conditions.  相似文献

The interactions of ligands with nucleic acids are central to numerous reactions in the biological cell. How such reactions are affected by harsh environmental conditions such as low temperatures, high pressures, and high concentrations of destructive ions is still largely unknown. To elucidate the ions’ role in shaping habitability in extraterrestrial environments and the deep subsurface of Earth with respect to fundamental biochemical processes, we investigated the effect of selected salts (MgCl2, MgSO4, and Mg(ClO4)2) and high hydrostatic pressure (relevant for the subsurface of that planet) on the complex formation between tRNA and the ligand ThT. The results show that Mg2+ salts reduce the binding tendency of ThT to tRNA. This effect is largely due to the interaction of ThT with the salt anions, which leads to a strong decrease in the activity of the ligand. However, at mM concentrations, binding is still favored. The ions alter the thermodynamics of binding, rendering complex formation that is more entropy driven. Remarkably, the pressure favors ligand binding regardless of the type of salt. Although the binding constant is reduced, the harsh conditions in the subsurface of Earth, Mars, and icy moons do not necessarily preclude nucleic acid–ligand interactions of the type studied here.  相似文献

Human pregnancy is a sequence of events finely tuned by several molecular interactions that come with a new birth. The precise interlocking of these events affecting the reproductive system guarantees safe embryo formation and fetal development. In this scenario, melatonin and myo-inositol seem to be pivotal not only in the physiology of the reproduction process, but also in the promotion of positive gestational outcomes. Evidence demonstrates that melatonin, beyond the role of circadian rhythm management, is a key controller of human reproductive functions. Similarly, as the most representative member of the inositol’s family, myo-inositol is essential in ensuring correct advancing of reproductive cellular events. The molecular crosstalk mediated by these two species is directly regulated by their availability in the human body. To date, biological implications of unbalanced amounts of melatonin and myo-inositol in each pregnancy step are growing the idea that these molecules actively contribute to reduce negative outcomes and improve the fertilization rate. Clinical data suggest that melatonin and myo-inositol may constitute an optimal dietary supplementation to sustain safe human gestation and a new potential way to prevent pregnancy-associated pathologies.  相似文献

A fluidic chamber with an elastomeric grating membrane is fabricated. Grating groove spacing is modified through membrane deformation via fluid injection. Tunable diffraction output is demonstrated. At normal incidence, the diffraction angle changes by 14.2° and 9.8° for incident wavelengths 632.8 and 488?nm, respectively, with an injected fluid volume of 1?ml.  相似文献

In this work we present a purification technique for oxygen removal from carbon nanotubes (CNTs) at relatively low temperature monitored by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy and electrical characterization (change in resistance). We dope the sample with alkali metal (Na, K and Cs), which successively bind with the residual impurities of oxygen. The removal of the so formed oxides occur by heating the sample at relatively low temperatures (500-600 degrees C) without collateral damage to CNTs mat. In particular we investigate the in situ intercalation of alkali in SWNT followed by oxygen adsorption monitored by DC resistance measurements and X-ray photo-spectroscopy (XPS), demonstrating that the alkali intercalation in the samples trigger the oxygen adsorption. A subsequent sample heating at 500 degrees C removes both oxygen and alkali. Furthermore, the amount of the oxygen removal depends upon the deposited alkali species: in effect only with Na and K we obtain a complete oxygen removal, while other alkalis probably do not intercalate properly inside the nanotube walls. We hypothesize that the atomic radius of alkali can affect the intercalation properties of them inside the CNT structure.  相似文献

Humans have a massive capacity to store detailed information in visual long-term memory. The present studies explored the fidelity of these visual long-term memory representations and examined how conceptual and perceptual features of object categories support this capacity. Observers viewed 2,800 object images with a different number of exemplars presented from each category. At test, observers indicated which of 2 exemplars they had previously studied. Memory performance was high and remained quite high (82% accuracy) with 16 exemplars from a category in memory, demonstrating a large memory capacity for object exemplars. However, memory performance decreased as more exemplars were held in memory, implying systematic categorical interference. Object categories with conceptually distinctive exemplars showed less interference in memory as the number of exemplars increased. Interference in memory was not predicted by the perceptual distinctiveness of exemplars from an object category, though these perceptual measures predicted visual search rates for an object target among exemplars. These data provide evidence that observers' capacity to remember visual information in long-term memory depends more on conceptual structure than perceptual distinctiveness.
