The fictitious crack method (FCM) is applied to determine the load-deflection diagrams of notched plain concrete beams under three-point bending using various forms of strain softening in the stress-deformation relationship. Low cycle fatigue life and crack growth rates were analytically estimated for random load sequences, generated from three combat aircraft load exceedance curves using different algorithms, including simulated rainflow cycle count, extreme-to-extreme excursions, upper to lower bound excursions and unrestricted peak-trough excursions. Also, the response of a fatigue meter to a random load sequence was simulated. Fatigue damage for the different load histories was computed using material constants for an Al-Cu alloy. Computed fatigue damage was relatively insensitive to the algorithm used for load sequence generation from combat aircraft load exceedance curves. Fatigue meter data based damage estimates were, however, sometimes unconservative.  相似文献

The effects of bacterial endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide, LPS) are amplified by lipopolysaccharide binding protein (LBP) and CD14, resulting in cellular activation at very low concentrations of LPS. To investigate the importance of this pathway in acute lung injury, we measured LPS, LBP, and soluble CD14 (sCD14) in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BAL) of 82 patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). LBP and sCD14 increased markedly in BAL of patients with ARDS. sCD14 and LBP each were strongly related to BAL total protein and polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN) concentration, whereas LPS concentration was not. Multivariate analyses showed sCD14 to be strongly related to BAL total protein, even after controlling for LPS and LBP concentrations. sCD14 was strongly and independently related to PMN concentration, after controlling for BAL LPS, LBP, and interleukin-8 (IL-8). The BAL LPS concentration was not strongly related to either BAL total protein or BAL PMN. The BAL sCD14 and LBP values were similar in all subgroups of patients with ARDS, and were not related to survival. The serum LBP and sCD14 were elevated in ARDS, but were not related to BAL total protein, LBP, sCD14, PMN, or clinical outcome. Thus, LBP and sCD14 reach high concentrations in the lungs of patients with ARDS, and BAL sCD14 is strongly related to two major indices of lung inflammation: total protein and PMN concentration. CD14-dependent mechanisms may contribute to lung inflammation in ARDS.  相似文献

A variety of belief maintenance schemes for image analysis have been suggested and used to date. In the recent past, several researchers have suggested the use of the Dempster-Shafer theory of evidence for representation of belief. This approach appears to be particularly suited for knowledge-based image analysis systems because of its intuitively convincing ways of representing beliefs, support, plausibility, ignorance, dubiety, and a host of other measures that can be used for the purpose of decision making. It also provides a very attractive technique to combine these measures obtained from disparate knowledge sources. In this article, we show how the Dempster-Shafer theoretic concepts of refinement and coarsening can be used to aggregate and propagate evidence in a multi-resolution image analysis system based on a hierarchical knowledge base.  相似文献

Regioselective photooxidative demethylation of methyl‐substituted N‐containing heterocyclic compounds is investigated in non‐aqueous (ethane nitrile) solutions containing semiconductor oxide (TiO2) as photocatalyst in the presence of molecular oxygen upon irradiation at room temperature conditions. A plausible electron transfer mechanism, in which an electron‐hole pair is generated on the surface of TiO2 by illumination, is proposed for the semiconductor‐mediated photocatalysis. Molecular orbital calculation by the AM 1 method has been performed for the electron densities of N‐atoms of heterocyclics in the present study. © 2002 Society of Chemical Industry  相似文献

ABSTRACT: The effect of red wine (RW), red grape juice (RGJ), green tea (GT), and representative polyphenols on Caco-2 cell 65Zn uptake was explored. RW, RGJ, and GT enhanced the uptake of zinc from rice matrix. Fractionation of RW revealed that enhancing activity of zinc uptake was exclusively resided in the polyphenol fraction. Among the polyphenols tested, only tannic acid and quercitin stimulated the uptake of zinc while others did not influence the uptake. In tune with these results, only tannic acid and quercitin competed with zinquin (a zinc selective fluorophore) for zinc in vitro. Although all the polyphenols tested appear to enhance the expression of metallothionein (MT), the induction was higher with tannic acid, quercitin, and RW extract. Furthermore, phytic acid abrogated the tannic acid-induced MT expression. These results suggest that polyphenol-rich beverages, tannic acid, and quercitin bind and stimulate the zinc uptake and MT expression in Caco-2 cells.  相似文献

The cure kinetics of medium reactivity unsaturated polyester resin formulated for Liquid Composite Molding process simulation was studied by Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) under isothermal conditions over a specific range of temperature. For isothermal curing reactions performed at 100, 110, and 120°C, several influencing factors were evaluated using the heat evolution behavior of curing process. We propose two‐ and three‐parameter kinetic models to describe the cure kinetics of thermoset resins. Comparisons of the model solutions with our experimental data showed that the three‐parameter model was the lowest parameter model capable of capturing both the degree of cure and the curing rate qualitatively and quantitatively. The model parameters were evaluated by a non‐linear multiple regression method and the temperature dependence of the kinetic rate constants thus obtained has been determined by fitting to the Arrhenius equation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) has earned tremendous attraction in the recent period due to its usage in a wireless intelligent transportation system. VANET is a unique form of mobile ad hoc network (MANET). Routing issues such as high mobility of nodes, frequent path breaks, the blind broadcasting of messages, and bandwidth constraints in VANET increase communication cost, frequent path failure, and overhead and decrease efficiency in routing, and shortest path in routing provides solutions to overcome all these problems. Finding the shortest path between source and destination in the VANET road scenario is a challenging task. Long path increases network overhead, communication cost, and frequent path failure and decreases routing efficiency. To increase efficiency in routing a novel, improved distance‐based ant colony optimization routing (IDBACOR) is proposed. The proposed IDBACOR determines intervehicular distance, and it is triggered by modified ant colony optimization (modified ACO). The modified ACO method is a metaheuristic approach, motivated by the natural behavior of ants. The simulation result indicates that the overall performance of our proposed scheme is better than ant colony optimization (ACO), opposition‐based ant colony optimization (OACO), and greedy routing with ant colony optimization (GRACO) in terms of throughput, average communication cost, average propagation delay, average routing overhead, and average packet delivery ratio.  相似文献

In this study, a locking-free n-sided C1 polygonal finite element is presented for nonlinear analysis of laminated plates. The plate kinematics is based on Reddy's third-order shear deformation theory (TSDT). The in-plane displacements are approximated using barycentric form of Lagrange shape functions. The weak-form Galerkin formulation based on the kinematics of TSDT requires the C1 approximation of the transverse displacement over the polygonal element. This is achieved by embedding the C0 Lagrange interpolants over a cubic Bernstein-Bezier patch defined over the n-sided polygonal element. Such an approach ensures the continuity of the derivative field at the inter-element edges. In addition, Eringen's stress-gradient nonlocal constitutive equations are used in the present formulation to account for nonlocality. The effect of geometric nonlinearity is taken by considering the von Kármán geometric nonlinearity. Examples are presented to show the effect of nonlocality, geometric nonlinearity, and the lamination scheme on the bending behavior of laminated composite plates. The results are compared with analytical solutions, conventional FEM results, and with those available in the literature. Shear locking is addressed considering reduced integration and consistent interpolation techniques. The patch test is used to check the convergence of the element developed.  相似文献
