Visual shape parameters and aesthetic aspects of a product are one of the crucial factors for the success of a product in the market. The type and the value of the shape parameters plays an important role in visual appearance of a product and designers tends to be critical while deciding these parameters. The aesthetic aspect of a product has been matter of concern for researchers with its electromechanical design. The Kano model has been found to be a useful tool to establish the relationship between performance criteria and customer satisfaction. To achieve the desired customer satisfaction weight of each product criteria is determined by using Kano model. This study presents an integrative design approach combining the Kano model, Taguchi method and grey relation analysis to obtain the optimal combination of shape parameters and aesthetic aspects. Prioritized criteria of aesthetic attributes have been abstracted through proposed methodology. A case study has been presented to evolve a profile of a car.  相似文献

Nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) in rice is low due to the inefficient management of fertilizer N by farmers. We evaluated a leaf color chart (LCC) as a simple tool for improving the time and rate of N fertilizer use in farmers’ fields for 4 years (2000–2003) in irrigated rice in northwestern India. Application of N fertilizer whenever leaf greenness was less than shade 4 on the LCC (the critical LCC value) produced rice grain yields on a par with blanket recommendation of applying 120 kg N ha−1 in three equal splits in different years, but it resulted in an average saving of 26% fertilizer N across villages and seasons. In most situations, there was no significant advantage of applying 20 kg N ha−1 as basal N at transplanting on grain yield and NUE of rice compared with no basal N. Use efficiencies of fertilizer N were higher when N was applied using LCC with a critical value of 4 than the recommended practice of applying 120 kg N ha−1 in three equal split doses on all sites and in all years. The LCC with a critical value of 4 for real-time N management can be efficiently used to increase NUE in all types of inbred rice cultivars presently popular with the farmers of the Indian Punjab. The LCC is a cheap and easy-to-use tool that allows real-time N management by farmers on a large area leading to improved fertilizer N use efficiency, and reduced risks associated with fertilizer N application.  相似文献

Riverscape genetics of fish, though extensively studied in temperate regions, have received limited interest in tropical rivers, especially in montane systems which not only harbour several endemic and threatened species, but are also subjected to extensive habitat modifications. We determine the population genetic structure of two endemic balitorid loaches (Bhavania australis and Travancoria elongata) in response to natural (25 m high waterfall) and artificial (23 m high and 290 m long hydropower dam) barriers in a small mountain riverscape in the Western Ghats Hotspot. Population genetics analysis using mitochondrial cytochrome b gene sequence showed low nucleotide diversity, haplotype diversity and genetic differentiation among populations, for both species, suggesting that barriers did not influence genetic structuring. Though migration analysis also revealed that barriers did not affect movement of the two species through the riverscape, patterns in mutation-scaled immigration rates and population sizes differed between the two species supporting our observation that they rarely co-exist in the same habitat, likely as an effect of competitive exclusion. Mismatch distribution and Bayesian skyline plot suggested recent expansion in the populations of B. australis and corresponding population decline in T. elongata in the last 100 years, which probably explains the widespread and abundant distribution of B. australis as opposed to the narrow endemism and rarity of T. elongata. Our results provide novel insights into the ecology of balitorid loaches and their response to riverine barriers in a tropical mountain landscape.  相似文献

To obtain new polymeric materials for environmental management, we used pine needles from the huge forest of the Western Himalayas as a source of cellulose. Cellulose was derivatized to hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC), a useful water‐soluble cellulose ether. HPC was graft‐copolymerized with acrylamide (AAm) with benzoyl peroxide as the initiator. At optimum grafting conditions, five different concentrations of the comonomers glycidyl methacrylate, acrylic acid, 2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate, and acrylonitrile were grafted with AAm. Networks of HPC and AAm were also synthesized by crosslinking reactions with glutaraldehyde as a crosslinker over a range of four different concentrations of crosslinker under acidic conditions. Crosslinked networks of HPC with AAm and a comonomer at one comonomer concentration were also synthesized. Graft copolymers were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and swelling behavior. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Piezoelectric energy harvesting from mechanical vibrations is a reliable technology to charge low power electronic equipment. It has been reported in the literature that low frequency broadband vibrations cannot be harvested effectively using linear piezoelectric energy harvester (PEH). In this paper a bistable nonlinear PEH with two distinct energy wells generated using repulsive magnetic interactions between a cantilever magnetic proof mass and an external magnet is considered. It has been modeled using finite element method and validated with experimental results. Experimental results verify that, for our study, distance between magnetic proof mass and external magnet of 1.32 T flux density should be less than or equal to 8.5?mm for maintaining bistability. This distance also affects to the resonance frequency of harvester. Maximum efficiency of the harvester has been noticed at 8.5mm. Further it has been shown experimentally that the bistable nonlinear piezoelectric energy harvester takes almost half of the time taken by its linear counterpart to charge a 20 mAh battery.  相似文献

Electromagnetic responses of cement–PZT composites under impact loading have been presented in this work. The values of density, dielectric constant and EMR voltage increase while that of porosity and loss tangent decrease with increase in PZT content. Filler (PZT) concentration dependent dielectric constant as well as loss tangent data shows exponential variation. The emitted EMR voltage as well as average EMR energy release rate for 21?cm height of impact increase from 1.03 V to 2.24 V and 0.10092 V2-sec/sec to 0.4635 V2-sec/sec respectively with the increasing PZT content (5% to 40%). The EMR responses of the composites were also found to be proportional to the height of impact in all the composites tested, indicating that the measurement of EMR responses from the cement based composites may be useful for deformation monitoring.  相似文献

Viability of a product or service in the market depends upon the satisfaction that it can extend to its customers through quality. Quality function deployment (QFD) is a tool that gathers voice of customer (VoC) and inducting the expected features in the final product. It is also desirable that the practitioners of QFD must extend due importance to latent expectations of the customers, which in turn may fulfill overall customer satisfaction for a product or service. Kano et al. (J Jpn Soc Qual Control, 14:39–48, 1984; 1996) and Kano (2001) have suggested a method to identify the different categories of requirements through customer responses. Based on the QFD and Kano model analysis, a function has been proposed to adjust the traditional improvement ratio (Tan and Shen, Total Qual Manag 11:1141–1151, 2000) for each product or service attribute to recognize the importance of a attribute, which can be helpful in developing a product or service in such a manner that maximum customer satisfaction can be achieved. The proposed methodology has been illustrated using customer survey data.  相似文献
