Glass fiber-reinforced epoxy composites were prepared from the matrix resins tetraglycidyl diaminodiphenylmethane

  • (TGMBT) using various amines like 4,4′-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM), 4,4′-diaminodiphenylsulfone (DDS) and diethylene triamine (DETA) as curing agents. The fabricated laminates were evaluated for their mechanical and dielectrical properties and chemical resistance.     A suspension of mica particles (40m diameter and 3.7 thick) obtained in a mechanically stirred Al-4 wt % Cu-1.5 wt % Mg melt was poured and solidified in a variety of moulds under different heat flow configurations. The resulting cast structure showed a non-uniform distribution of dispersed mica particles with mica-depleted and segregated zones due to their flotation before and during solidification. The experimentally observed profiles of mica-free regions deviate significantly from those computed on the basis of Stokes's law and freezing-time computations. In relatively thick castings, segregation of mica could be minimized by using low pouring temperatures and/or side as well as bottom chilling. It was found, however, that thin castings (12.5 mm) could easily be produced with a homogeneous distribution of mica particles.  相似文献

    Ring rolling process is widely used in the production of seamless rings for automotive and aerospace industry. This paper presents a summary of the ring rolling technology: machine and process types; process considerations; and examples of ring rolling lines. In this technology survey, recent trends in ring rolling machines and processes are emphasized. This survey will be specially valuable for industry personnel engaged with the selection and implementation of ring rolling lines and process planning engineers working with ring rolling companies. It will also provide adequate background to researchers initiating research in the mechanics of the ring rolling process.  相似文献

    The Lovász ?-function (Lovász in IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, 25:1–7, 1979) of a graph G=(V,E) can be defined as the maximum of the sum of the entries of a positive semidefinite matrix X, whose trace Tr(X) equals 1, and X ij =0 whenever {i,j}∈E. This function appears as a subroutine for many algorithms for graph problems such as maximum independent set and maximum clique. We apply Arora and Kale’s primal-dual method for SDP to design an algorithm to approximate the ?-function within an additive error of δ>0, which runs in time $O(\frac{\vartheta ^{2} n^{2}}{\delta^{2}} \log n \cdot M_{e})$ , where ?=?(G) and M e =O(n 3) is the time for a matrix exponentiation operation. It follows that for perfect graphs G, our primal-dual method computes ?(G) exactly in time O(? 2 n 5logn). Moreover, our techniques generalize to the weighted Lovász ?-function, and both the maximum independent set weight and the maximum clique weight for vertex weighted perfect graphs can be approximated within a factor of (1+?) in time O(? ?2 n 5logn).  相似文献

    Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) onto guar gum (GG) in aqueous slurry has been carried out using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as initiator. The copolymers were characterized by infrared spectroscopy. The grafting parameters like percent grafting, grafting efficiency, percent add-on, and the grafting frequency were determined, and the effect of reaction time, concentration of initiator, and [GG]/[MMA] ratios on the grafting parameters have been discussed. The decrease in % add-on at increasing concentration of H2O2 indicated enhancement in the rate of homopolymerization of methyl methacrylate.  相似文献

    The characterization of the pore structure of microporous materials is of interest because of the usefulness of these materials in many applications. Of these, the characterization of carbon adsorbents is particularly problematic because of the presence of small pores with size on the order of small molecules (micropores) along with a wide distribution of pore sizes, and their non-crystalline structure. In this paper, we present results obtained using the Dubinin-Astakhov equation to analyze data from high pressure CO2 adsorption at 273 K to characterize two sets of microporous carbons. Our results support the conclusions of previous workers that the Dubinin-Astakhov (DA) equation is able to linearize adsorption data that gives rise to curved Dubinin-Radushkevich plots. However, when applied over different ranges of relative pressure on the adsorption isotherm, the Dubinin-Astakhov plots result in different values of micropore volume and characteristic adsorption potential. Furthermore, DA analysis of CO2 (273 K) adsorption data over a wide range of pressures (10–3–22000 Tort), gives results different from DA analysis of CO2 (273 K) isotherms measured at low pressures only (10–3–830 Tort). It would appear desirable to apply the DA equation to data that reflects the entire range of micropore filling on the adsorption isotherm, as opposed to data over a limited relative pressure range. For CO2 adsorption at 273 K, this would necessitate adsorption studies at high pressures, to about 28 atm. Micropore volumes obtained in this manner, agreed with the total pore volumes determined by nitrogen (77 K) adsorption for all the activated carbons studied.  相似文献

    The world’s population is aging, and developed countries are engaged in developing a new aged-care paradigm to reduce spiraling healthcare costs. Assistive technologies like Socially Assistive Robots (SAR) are being considered as enablers to support the process of care giving or keep elderly at home longer. This article reports a mixed-method systematic review of SAR in elderly care and recognizes its impact on elderly well-being, integrating evidence from qualitative and quantitative studies. It follows the principles explained in Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and classifies interventions, measures, and outcomes of field trials of SAR in elderly care. Eighty-six studies in 37 study groups have been included. The findings imply positive effects of SAR on elderly well-being. Ten significant recommendations are made to help avoid the current limitations of existing research and to improve future research and its applicability. This review revealed that SAR can potentially enhance elderly well-being and decrease the workload on caregivers. There is a need for rigorous research methodology, person-centered care, caregiver expectation model, multimodal interaction, multimodal data collection, and modeling of culturally diverse groups to facilitate acceptability of SAR.  相似文献

    Flexural properties, impact energy, heat deflection temperature, and resistance to thermal and hydrothermal degradation of composites based on E-glass and N-glass fibers as the reinforcing agents, and epoxy, unsaturated polyester, phenolic, and epoxy-phenolic resin systems as the matrix materials were studied and compared. As a reinforcing agent E-glass fiber is superior to N-glass fiber, particularly with respect to development of flexural strength and modulus, impact strength, and thermal resistance; N-glass fiber, however, imparts to the composites substantially higher resistance to hydrothermal degradation under boiling conditions in different chemical environments. For use of both E-glass and N-glass fibers as reinforcing agents, the general order of resistance to hydrothermal degradation for the composites based on different matrix resins is epoxy > phenolic > unsaturated polyester resin. Incorporation of a low dose of a rubbery polymer, such as styrene butadiene rubber (0.1–0.2%) and liquid polybutadiene (0.5–0.75%), in unsaturated polyester resin as the matrix resin measurably enhances impact energy of the composite. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

    Rotary forging is a relatively new manufacturing process with potential for cost-effective applications, especially in cold forging of intricate parts to net shape. In this paper orbital forging and axial die rolling processes are included as subsets of rotary forging while radial forging, also known as rotary forging, has been excluded; these decisions are primarily based on die kinematics. Because of its recent origins, the rotary forging process is first described. Then, a historical perspective is provided to trace its recent origins. The machines are classified based on die kinematics. Die kinematics influence the stick-slip or position discrepancy behavior of the different machine types and have deep implications on the die filling and accuracy capabilities of these machines. Rotary forging machines currently in operation in the U.S. and their applications are presented in greater detail.     The trend in metal forming is to produce parts with increased precision and geometric complexity. Thus, research and development is being conducted worldwide to develop presses and tooling for near-net and net shape forming of difficult-to-form components. As a result, presses with increased precision and multi-action tooling are being used routinely by advanced companies around the world.
