We consider the broadcasting problem in multi-radio multi-channel ad hoc networks. The objective is to minimize the total cost of the network-wide broadcast, where the cost can be of any form that is summable over all the transmissions (e.g., the transmission and reception energy, the price for accessing a specific channel). Our technical approach is based on a simplicial complex model that allows us to capture the broadcast nature of the wireless medium and the heterogeneity across radios and channels. Specifically, we show that broadcasting in multi-radio multi-channel ad hoc networks can be formulated as a minimum spanning problem in simplicial complexes. We establish the NP-completeness of the minimum spanning problem and propose two approximation algorithms with order-optimal performance guarantee. The first approximation algorithm converts the minimum spanning problem in simplical complexes to a minimum connected set cover (MCSC) problem. The second algorithm converts it to a node-weighted Steiner tree problem under the classic graph model. These two algorithms offer tradeoffs between performance and time-complexity. In a broader context, this work appears to be the first that studies the minimum spanning problem in simplicial complexes and weighted MCSC problem.  相似文献

On the Complexity of Distributed Self-Configuration in Wireless Networks   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
We consider three distributed configuration tasks that arise in the setup and operation of multi-hop wireless networks: partition into coordinating cliques, Hamiltonian cycle formation and conflict-free channel allocation. We show that the probabilities of accomplishing these tasks undergo zero-one phase transitions with respect to the transmission range of individual nodes. We model these tasks as distributed constraint satisfaction problems (DCSPs) and show that, even though they are NP-hard in general, these problems can be solved efficiently on average when the network is operated sufficiently far from the transition region. Phase transition analysis is shown to be a useful mechanism for quantifying the critical range of energy and bandwidth resources needed for the scalable performance of self-configuring wireless networks.  相似文献

A compact DC offset correction circuit based on the intrinsic properties of quasi-floating gate (QFG) transistors is presented. The proposed scheme uses a tuning mechanism to make its initial response faster improving the traditional large settling time of these circuits. A zero-IF baseband receiver chain suitable for Bluetooth that includes the proposed dc offset correction has been designed in a 0.18 μm CMOS technology at 1.2 V supply voltage.  相似文献

Recently, flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) has become a core research area in wireless networks that involves multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). It is widely used in modern warfare for surveillance, monitoring and reconnaissance. The routing in FANETs poses a more significant challenge due to limited energy and frequent link disconnection between the UAVs. Consequently, an effective route is always required to ensure data transmission between UAVs. Therefore, this research proposes a link-optimized cone-assisted location (LoCaL) routing protocol for FANETs. The main goal of the proposed LoCaL is to enhance the link duration between the UAVs in which a source selects a forwarding UAV from a given set of neighbours by estimating the residual energy, link duration time and safety degree parameters. Proposed LoCaL provides better stability and less frequent route breaks between source and destination. Further, the mathematical formulation of the proposed approach is presented through the utility function to enhance the route stability by selecting all those relay UAVs in the cone-shaped request zone, which reduces the routing overhead in discovering the route. Finally, the performance of the LoCaL has been presented through key indicators such as energy consumption, routing overhead, message delivery ratio, network lifetime and delay compared to the existing approaches.  相似文献

An infostation is an isolated pocket area, with small coverage of high bandwidth connectivity, which collects information requests of mobile users and delivers data while users are going through the coverage area. In this paper, the performance of infostations networks with single, double and triple frequencies is studied. The two-slope propagation loss model is used to calculate the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio. The effect of the propagation parameters on the infostation performance is studied.  相似文献

The EuQoS (End-to-End QoS over Heterogeneous Networks) IST Integrated European Project aimed to define a Next Generation Network architecture that builds, uses and manages end-to-end QoS across different administrative domains and heterogeneous networks (UMTS, xDSL, Ethernet, WiFi, Satellite and IP/MPLS). The EuQoS architecture preserves the openness and the decentralized decision model of the actual Internet, runs on off-the-shelf hardware and network equipment, and allows end users to request various services without changing the Application Signaling protocol, while meeting regulators’ and users’ Net Neutrality requirements. This paper presents the key elements of the EuQoS architecture and describes the main results obtained in field trials performed on a fully-functional EuQoS system prototype developed over a pan-European testbed. Furthermore, the paper discusses the main strengths of the system and the issues related to its actually deployment on a large scale, from both technical and market points of view.  相似文献

We have synthesized lead and lead sulfide nanoparticles embedded in a natural zeolite (clinoptilolite) matrix by a simple hydrothermal process. The process steps involve the partial removing of the natural cations in clinoptilolite, the ion-exchange process to enclose Pb ions and nanoparticles and finally a sulfuration process at different temperatures to obtain lead sulfide phases in the zeolite matrix. The samples were studied by X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray photon spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The experimental results show the inclusion of three Pb species with different valence states after the Pb ion-exchange step, namely Pb2+, Pb4+, and Pb0. At the end of the process, two simultaneous lead sulfide crystalline phases, PbS (Galena) and PbS2 (tetragonal) were synthesized in the clinoptilolite matrix. The optical absorption spectra of the samples show the exciton absorption peaks typical of colloidal PbS nanoparticles. The average size of the PbS nanoparticles was about 10 nm and their crystalline structure was determined from diffraction electron patterns. The high-pressure phase PbS2 was also identified and its formation was attributed to the influence of the special conditions of clinoptilolite matrix as crystallization media to induce some selective nucleation process of this crystalline phase.  相似文献

Individuals change over time, often in complex ways. Generally, studies of change over time have combined individuals into groups for analysis, which is inappropriate in most, if not all, studies of development. The authors explain how to identify appropriate levels of analysis (individual vs. group) and demonstrate how to estimate changes in developmental processes over time using a multivariate nonstationary time series model. They apply this model to describe the changing relationships between a biological son and father and a stepson and stepfather at the individual level. The authors also explain how to use an extended Kalman filter with iteration and smoothing estimator to capture how dynamics change over time. Finally, they suggest further applications of the multivariate nonstationary time series model and detail the next steps in the development of statistical models used to analyze individual-level data. The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between bulky DNA adducts in white blood cells (WBC) and lifestyle factors in a sample from the Spanish cohort of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC). 296 subjects aged between 35 and 64 years, from five regions, were included. Food intake was estimated with a computerized version of dietary history questionnaire. Daily intake of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) was estimated using a database with information on food content of potential carcinogens. Data on lifestyle and health factors were collected and DNA adducts measured using the nuclease P1 32P-postlabelling technique. Geometric means of adducts were similar for men and women (4.11/109 and 3.94/109 nucleotides, respectively). Highest levels of adduct were observed in non-smokers and non-occupationally exposed. Meat intake, oils and fats were associated with higher levels of adducts, but all non-statistically significant. Higher intakes of calcium, sodium and phosphorus were associated with lower adducts levels. Summarising, our study shows that bulky adducts measured by 32P-postlabelling in DNA from WBC do not correlate with the usual diet of healthy Spanish adults. Although it has been proposed that diet be the main source of PAH in nonsmokers without occupational exposure, DNA adducts do not seem to be suitable biomarkers of dietary PAH in general population.  相似文献

In the present study, monodisperse Fe3O4 nanoparticles with diameters ranging from 10 nm to 25 nm were synthesized using a simple organic-phase synthetic route and these monodispersed nanoparticles were then used as catalyst for seed growth of carbon nanotube. Fe3O4 nanoparticles were reduced to iron nanoparticles assembly by Argon mixed with 5% Hydrogen gas at 400 °C and then it was examined by atomic force microscopy (AFM), thermomechanical analysis (TMA) and powder diffraction X-ray spectroscopic techniques. XRD indicates that iron clusters are bcc in nature and AFM image shows that the iron nanoparticles assemblies are 50–65 nm in size. To control the agglomeration of iron nanoparticles, nanoporous hybrid support material of Al2O3 and SiO2 was used. However, this matrix also fails to stop the agglomeration of iron nanoparticles mainly due to the inhomogeneous distribution of pore diameters. TMA analysis of iron clusters shows a temperature-dependent morphology, therefore, the CNTs growth temperature critically ascertain the nature and structure of CNTs.  相似文献
