A facile click chemistry approach to the functionalization of three‐dimensional hyperbranched polyurethane (HPU) to graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets is presented. HPU‐functionalized GO samples of various compositions were synthesized by reacting alkyne‐functionalized HPU with azide‐functionalized GO sheets. The morphological characterization of the HPU‐functionalized GO was performed using transmission electron microscopy and its chemical characterization was carried out using Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The graphene sheet surfaces were highly functionalized, leading to improved solubility in organic solvents, and consequently, enhanced mechanical, thermal, and thermoresponsive and photothermal shape memory properties. The strategy reported herein provides a very efficient method for regulating composite properties and producing high performance materials. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. F luorescent and magnetic poly(styrene) (PS) based random co‐polymer nanofiber was synthesized in a controlled manner via chemical polymerization in three steps. A fluorescent and magnetic nanohybrid {Fe3O4/Congored (CR)} was separately prepared and chemically grafted onto the epichlorohydrin (ECH) units of the random co‐polymer. Characterizations of the above synthesized polymers were done with the help of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, UV–visible spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, fluorescence emission spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) measurement, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and gel permeation chromatography (GPC) like analytical techniques. The FESEM results indicated that after the grafting of nanohybrid onto the random co‐polymer backbone, the polymer exhibited a nanofiber like morphology. Due to the surface functionalization and encapsulation reactions, the magnetic moment value of the nanohybrid and its nanocomposites were found to be reduced. Synthesis and characterization of magnetic and fluorescent random co‐polymer based nanofiber is the primary target of the present investigation and its application is extended to the catalysis field. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The n-6/n-3 fatty acid (FA) ratio has increased in the Western-style diet to ~10–15:1 during the last century, which may have contributed to the rise in cardiovascular disease (CVD). Prior studies have evaluated the effects on CVD risk factors of manipulating the levels of n-6 and n-3 FA using food and supplements or investigated the metabolic fate of linoleic acid (LNA) and α-linolenic acid (ALA) by varying the n-6/n-3 ratios. However, no previous studies have investigated the potential interaction between diet ratios and supplementation with eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5n-3) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3). We used a factorial design approach with adults (n = 24) in a controlled feeding trial to compare the accretion of EPA and DHA into red blood cell membranes (RBC) by adding a direct source (algal oil supplement) of EPA and DHA in a diet with a 10:1 versus 2:1 ratio of n-6/n-3 FA. Subjects were randomized into 8-week crossover diet sequences and each subject consumed three of four diets [10:1, 10:1 plus supplement (10:1 + S), 2:1 and 2:1 + S]. LNA and ALA intakes were 9.4 and 7.7%, and 1.0 and 3.0% during the low and high ALA diets, respectively. Compared to the Western-style 10:1 diet, the 2:1 diet increased EPA by 60% (P < 0.0001) in RBC membranes without the direct EPA source and a 34% increase (P = 0.027) was observed with the 10:1 + S diet; however, DHA levels increased in both diet ratios only with a direct DHA source. Shifting towards a 2:1 diet is a valid alternative to taking EPA-containing supplements.  相似文献

The effect of linear styrene–butadiene polymer structure on the temperature–viscosity behavior of model polymer-base oil solutions is investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. Simulations of alternating, random, and block styrene–butadiene polymers in a dodecane solvent are used to calculate viscosity at 40 and 100 °C, reference temperatures for characterizing their function as viscosity modifiers. Mechanisms underlying this function are explored by quantifying the radius of gyration and intramolecular interactions of the polymers at the same reference temperatures. The block styrene–butadiene configuration exhibits the least change in viscosity with temperature, characteristic of a good viscosity modifier or viscosity index improver, and the behavior is correlated to the ability of this structure to form smaller coils with more intramolecular interactions at lower temperatures and then expand as temperature is increased. The results indicate that there is a correlation between styrene–butadiene polymer structure, additive function, and the mechanisms underlying that function.  相似文献

In the proposed model, we consider the scenario of a supply chain with a single vendor and a single buyer for a single product, taking into consideration the effect of deterioration and credit period incentives. We also consider the situation in which the vendor and the buyer decide upon an investment in ordering cost reduction and coordinate their inventory policies to minimize their joint average annual cost. We study and analyze the benefits of order cost reduction and credit period incentives in a coordinated supply chain. The numerical examples with an exponential ordering cost function are used to evaluate the benefit of the proposed coordinated strategy.  相似文献

Human activity recognition using multidimensional indexing   总被引:12,自引:0,他引:12  
In this paper, we develop a novel method for view-based recognition of human action/activity from videos. By observing just a few frames, we can identify the activity that takes place in a video sequence. The basic idea of our method is that activities can be positively identified from a sparsely sampled sequence of a few body poses acquired from videos. In our approach, an activity is represented by a set of pose and velocity vectors for the major body parts (hands, legs, and torso) and stored in a set of multidimensional hash tables. We develop a theoretical foundation that shows that robust recognition of a sequence of body pose vectors can be achieved by a method of indexing and sequencing and it requires only a few pose vectors (i.e., sampled body poses in video frames). We find that the probability of false alarm drops exponentially with the increased number of sampled body poses. So, matching only a few body poses guarantees high probability for correct recognition. Our approach is parallel, i.e., all possible model activities are examined at one indexing operation. In addition, our method is robust to partial occlusion since each body part is indexed separately. We use a sequence-based voting approach to recognize the activity invariant to the activity speed.  相似文献

Yttria stabilized zirconia-alumina (YSTZ-Al2O3) nanocomposite system with various Al2O3 concentrations has been synthesized by sol-gel route. The experimental techniques XRD, DTA, TGA, FT-Raman, FT-IR, SEM, Vickers hardness measurements, density measurements and Impedance spectroscopy were used to characterize the synthesized specimens. DTA result shows two exothermic reactions: one around 760°C and another around 960°C. XRD results confirm that the specimen starts to crystallize on heating above 750°C. Well resolved XRD reflections corresponding to tetragonal (t) ZrO2 were obtained after the specimens were heated at 1000°C. FT-Raman results confirmed that the crystallites developed above 750°C was t-ZrO2. It was observed from the XRD and DTA results that the bulk and grain boundary region crystallize independently in two different temperatures with a difference in temperature of about 200°C. The crystallization temperatures increase with Al2O3 contents. At 1300°C, the pure YSTZ and 5 and 10 wt % Al2O3 added YSTZ specimens underwent structural transformation from tetragonal to monoclinic ZrO2. But, the tetragonal symmetry remains stable at 1300°C with an addition of 15 wt % Al2O3. The system which retain its tetragonal symmetry at its processing temperature (1300°C) gives high hardness and maximum density values. Almost 100% theoretical density value was obtained at 1300°C with an addition of 15 wt % of Al2O3.  相似文献

The optical constants of water ice have been determined in the near infrared from 4000 to 7000 cm(-1). Polycrystalline ice films with thickness as great as ~1164 mum were formed by condensation of water vapor on a cold silicon substrate at temperatures of 166, 176, 186, and 196 K. The transmission of light through the ice films was measured during their growth from 0 to 1164 mum over the frequency range of approximately 500-7000 cm(-1). The optical constants were extracted by means of simultaneously fitting the calculated transmission spectra of films of varying thickness to their respective measured transmission spectra with an iterative Kramers-Kronig technique. Equations are presented to account for reflection losses at the interfaces when the sample is held in a cell. These equations are used to reanalyze the transmission spectrum of water ice (358-mum sample at 247 K) recorded by Ockman in 1957 [Philos. Mag. Suppl. 7, 199 (1958)]. Our imaginary indices for water ice are compared with those of Gosse et al. [Appl. Opt. 34, 6582 (1995)], Kou et al. [Appl. Opt. 32, 3531 (1993)], Grundy and Schmitt [J. Geophys. Res. 103, 25809 (1998)], and Warren [Appl. Opt. 23, 1206 (1984)], and with the new indices from Ockman's spectrum. The temperature dependence in the imaginary index of refraction observed by us between 166 and 196 K and that between our data at 196 K and the data of Gosse et al. at 250 K are compared with that predicted by the model of Grundy and Schmitt. On the basis of this comparison a linear interpolation of the imaginary indices of refraction between 196 and 250 K is proposed. We believe that the accuracy of this interpolation is better than 20%.  相似文献

Unidirectional <100> potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate (KDP) single crystals were grown for the first time by Sankaranarayanan-Ramasamy (SR) method. The <100> oriented seed crystals were mounted at the bottom of the glass ampoules and the crystal of 15 mm diameter, 65 mm height were grown by SR method. The grown crystals were characterized by high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HRXRD), etching studies. The HRXRD analysis indicates that the crystalline perfection is excellent without having any very low angle internal structural grain boundaries. Dislocation density is less in SR grown KDP compared to conventional method grown KDP.  相似文献

Investigations on nucleation thermodynamical parameters are very essential for the successful growth of good quality single crystals from high temperature solution. A theoretical estimation of the nucleation thermodynamical parameters like interfacial energy between the solid Nd123 and its flux BaO-CuO, metastable zone-width, Gibbs free energy, critical energy barrier for nucleation and critical nucleation radius have been calculated from the knowledge of solubility data and by applying the classical nucleation theory.
